  • you fucking think that is bad??? you should see my back :(

  • does this mean a girl at my school that has a brace.....has it????

  • As I watched this, I started sitting straighter

  • I hate my scoliosis because one side of my hip is higher than the other. So when I wear something form fitting I am self concious because I can see the unevenness. So I usually do not buy anything form fitting.

  • I have mild scoliosis and it doesn't affect my lifestyle. All i know is that my left shoulder blade sticks out slightly and my left ribcage pokes out a little.

  • I've been Diagnosed with Scoliosis when i was 14 and now im 15 i have a brace but..

like the teenager i am.. i care what people think its a small curve plus my back has a slight bump Thats why i wear Boy clothes then girls clothes so yeah i felt like i had to comment :)

  • Dr. Stephen Lewis at Toronto Western Hospital saved my back. He's the miracle worker in orthopaedics. Best of luck in your ongoing success. Check out "Lindsay's Scoliosis Journey" on youTube as well.

  • As someone who had spinal fusion surgery at 16, I hate that scoliosis is featured on a show called "embarrassing bodies." Why should I be embarrassed? There is enough to deal with through searing pain and discomfort, even being self-conscious, without an added stigma. I love my scar and I embrace it. It's a part of who I am.

  • I was diagnosed with scoliosis at 17 and im the same way. Im in crazy amount of pain where all i want to do is cry. and the specialist wont do anything. and its getting worse. im the same way, Im always tired and out of breath and hard time sleeping. and my back looks the some way. the doctor wont give me surgery tho cause I was only 18 when i seen him abd ill be 20 in april and said i was too young wait 5 years so I still have about 3 years to go.

  • @miniteen59 Really? I had the surgery at 16. I guess there might be differences in our severity. Hang in there, though! :-D

  • first of all that scar looked significant to me! and second of all, how much flexibility have you in your spine now? and what are the long term effects of all that soft ware. to make a film like this w/o listing the possible side effects or complications is a mistake. this is a huge and serious undertaking and should not be done for cosmetic purposes.

  • @bopeep05403 In the part in which the surgery has been done, there's no flexibility. The pain - in the first days after the surgery, you've even got a lot of pain WITH morphine - is another point...

  • u have scoliosis

a double curve.49 degrees in one and 52 the other

I'm having surgery on July 9th

just 8 days after my birthday.I'm so scared

  • That's a very white room.

  • do you know whats even more embarressing and painful? being 6 feet tall with scoliosis

  • omg im so sad i have scoliosis too and im 14 i think it's about 70 degree and by watching these videos helped a bit but I am still scared because in the surgery you will have to open the back so wide and i dont want a scar on by back. so what will it feel after... fml=( hope you feel better~

  • @strawberry1231997 i have it to but not bad and im 13

  • wow glad that i don't suffer from that but good that it can be cured

  • shes got a uhhh nice chest area

  • Modern medicine is amazing. It's too bad Americans can't benefit from it. At least not the middle-class and lower population. It's so damn expensive out here for just about anything when it comes to medicine.

  • @rminitials

if you have proper health insurance it won't be a problem.I'm from a middle class family in america and I'm having back surgery soon.My mom and I don't have to worry about coast because we have great insurance

  • @Taang4evr

You just said it - "If you have proper health insurance"

Yes, IF you do, if not well then who cares... die of HIV, AIDS, etc. Health Care in this country is a joke and it's insulting how politicians try to scare us by saying socialized medicine wont work. Seems like Canada is doing just fine. As is France, the UK.... even CUBA. Yes, CUBA is owning the US when it comes to FREE universal healthcare. Tell me, how the hell can Cuba manage to pull it off but we can't? GREED.

  • @rminitials

    true

  • I'm somewhat scared/irritated now. I was diagnosed at the age of 17 as well, and they told me that it won't get too bad. I was sent to a therapist and hated it. I hope this will motived me enough to start doing the exercises again.

  • How the fuck did I get here from a call of duty vid?

  • @Bondenoknarket Uhmmm well, let see....you clicked on a video named "Embarrassing Bodies - Scoliosis"? Yea?

    Hooray, what did I win?

  • @Bondenoknarket I think you clicked on a video..and PUFF!You got here -.-

  • ez még semi

  • wow. english are so patient and understanding. much better listeners than u.s.

  • That is not a "debilitating" case. Do people really feel pain from a curve like that? I know I had a curve that was 75 degrees and I had fused ribs but I've never experienced any back pain or fatigue or had any trouble moving around. I had a spinal fusion 8 years ago and now I have my curve is at 40-something degrees (that's as straight as they could get it) and I've still never felt crippled. If anything the surgery has limited my range of motion.

  • i hav this to, but the doctors said tht its not bad, i might need back acupuncture

  • I was diagnosed with Scoliosis when I was 17 as well, by then it was to late to use a brace. I am 22 years old now and am going to get xrays tomorrow to see if it has progressed. I have a deep feeling it has and I am really scared about getting the surgery. I have never asked anyone to do this for me before but if you could say a little prayer for me I would really appreciate it.

  • I HAVE SCOLOSIS

  • Pretty lady.

  • Surgery doesn't have to be the solution. I have a 67degree curve that I've reduced to 50degrees and a 50degree curve that I've reduced to 35degrees through a doctor certified with CLEAR Institute. I've grown an inch because my spine is straightening. I'm 28, I was having breathing problems and I was in so much pain, now I can breathe well and my pain is reduced. I highly recommend trying the exercises from CLEAR Institute before considering surgery or bracing.

  • Picture after the surgery looks amazing, but I was wondering since the doctors have straightened her spine with *something* I thought she was unable to bend over and such. Did they remove those screws and "stuff" that made her spine straight or it'll stay there 4ever ? (I apologize for my bad English, I'm Croatian ^^)

  • I had a good friend who had a sister who had scoliosis. She flew to Singapore to have her surgery done (woah). I remember during our school play she was wearing a dress and I could see her scar down her back, I could not bare to look at it. She was so brave!

  • I hate my scoliosis. It even affects the way I walk :((

  • Comment removed

  • im 19 and i have too. with 15 degree. and i have pain. :(

  • i remember being told my back wouldn't get any worse... i was about 17 too. now i have pain.

  • Sigh..I have scoliosis too. Hopefully, I won't need surgery.

Holla to all my fellow ladies with scoliosis! :)

  • @CaliHollisterbabe Guys have scoliosis too :)

  • my best friend had this operation about a year ago now, her scar goes all the way down her back, she's absolutely beautiful but is so self conscious about the scar, is there anything she can do to make it fade or cover it up?

  • @leesiii Hi tell her to be proud of her scar, it tells a valuable story :) To be honest I don't know if the creams work I certainly haven't tried any. I'm 2 months post op now. Come and visit my facebook page (link in description) I have asked the question there, maybe some has tried and tested some creams. xx

  • @leesiii Congrats to your friend on getting the surgery successfully! Surgical scars shouldn't be something to be ashamed of, but lord knows I've tried to cover up mine. Over-the-counter mederma is a decent affordable option, but I actually find lightly exfoliating the (fully healed) scar tissue with vitamin E oil helps most in reducing raised/discolored scars. Good luck to her! :)

  • @leesiii I have had two surgeries on my back, its difficult I know but the scar does fade with time, and to be honest, most people think its pretty cool. Its a great conversation starter and usually once people see you are confident with yourself, they don't even see it, or you talk about it and than they forget because they are too busy valuing you as a person.

  • @leesiii I had this operation about 2 ½ years ago, i also got a scar all the way down my back, first i didnt like it at all but then it just became a part of who i am, i keep reminding myself that now i can wear tight tops and u cant even see that ive had scoliosis anymore, im so happy with my straight back now and there for im also happy with my scar, just help her realize shes beautiful just the way she is, with her scar and all, that helped me alot :)

  • @leesiii I am a 34 year old woman and I had Scoliosis Surgery when I was 12. I have a long scar going from the top of my back close to my neck down to close to my tail Bone. I use to have a very thick scar and now it just looks like a thin line. For many years I took care of my scar. When I was in the sun I covered up and even bought a bathing suite that covered most of my scar. It will never go away but it doesn't look as bad now.

  • @leesiii there is a brand of makeup called dermablend that was created to cover up scars and other skin imperfections and i have also heard that 100% raw shea butter helps to fade scars

  • @leesiii she can try taking vitamin E gel caps as well as applying vitamin E oil to the scar instead of lotion- this may lighten the scar up for her some :)

  • @leesiii lavender essential oil does wonders on scars!

  • @leesiii i think scars are cool XD

  • i have it also..mines is bad but what ever...lol

  • @standgordon Its not to laugh at, visit a doctor when you can. Otherwise when you are old you may have breathing and heart problems.

  • @TrishLois i born in 74 so they did all they could aleady...

  • I had the operation one year from now and I am still in pain. so does anyone know any exersises other then swimming to help.

  • @bobbyjajay1 Hi sorry to hear you're still in pain, that doesn't sound right to me. I am just 7 weeks post op and haven't had any pain for a while. I would recommend going back to the doctor and having it checked out. Why not come and post your question on our Facebook page? (link in the description) There may be others with the same who can advise!! Gool luck xx <3

  • @ScoliosisGirlDiaries Thanks I have a check up in october so I'll ask the doctor then. I don't know if theres much they could do I had pretty bad scoliosis (three curvs and twisted) :( lol

  • @bobbyjajay1 I was twisted too, what were your curves?

  • @ScoliosisGirlDiaries I think my biggest one was 60 degrees. I don't know about the other three. How many curves did you have?

  • @bobbyjajay1 wow, you had a lot of curves! i had one!x

  • @ScoliosisGirlDiaries thats lucky. Your back is all messed up and then in 24 hours its just all straight must be very confusing for your body :)

  • I had surgery, it was embarassing but surgery made it soo much better! My channel has videos all about it :)

  • its not embarrising at all

  • @JazysInLove Nope I agree, it isn't embarrassing!! I'm 7 weeks post op now and it's so great!!

  • @ScoliosisGirlDiaries i have scoliosis too(: and im glad your doing great! good luck with it all!

  • my back hurts after this.... :/

  • Please...I hope you get checked out by a chiropractor first before anything major like this.

  • Is this just for the UK? Because I live in the USA.

  • @az4278 Hi it was a show on UK television "Channel 4" but I'm sure other countries do things slightly differently...
