WTF? MTA is throwing away good historical pieces or scrap metal. There so lazy not to put some of the cats in central park for kids to climb on BUT NO,they throw them away like yesterdays trash and into the ocean for god sake! MTA is a bunch of fucking environmentalists who think by replacing these important cars with more expensive shitboxes!? where do we have the money to replace them in this economy? "REEF BUILDING" is another word for piling shit thinking its good for the environment.

there is nothing wrong with those old train cars i ride them EVERY day and the only thing that is bad about them is that they screech like hell when they brake. the mta overhauled these cars just ten years ago, costing them several million bucks!!!!!! and now AT LEAST instead of scrapping them they are partners with peta to help save fish????!!!!!

Im a nyc subway rider. I rode those R40 slants everyday on the B train. I was definitely on one of those trains that fell in the water

i rode on alot of w r40s they should of scrapped the r40m because it is a disaster i remember a w r40S it was the back car it was 4193 i was so happy when i heard that was sent to the nycta transit museum i was so happy the r40 will be running on the A and B lines try to search for 4377 4342 4243 4337 dont listen about the scrapping in 2009 they cant do it they just ordered the rip off r160 now they are going on a crisis and they think they could scrap the r32 r38 r40 and the $800m
