It may be the least competition teams want to win, but it serves a purpose for tons of things:

1. It's part of the trophy cabinet.

2. To break a winning trophy drought.

3. A momentum booster for more success down the road (i.e. Manchester United winning the 2006 Carling Cup, went on to win four EPL titles in the last 5 years, 2008 UEFA Champions League, 5 FA Community Shields, 2009 Carling Cup, 2008 FIFA Club World Cup).

@joesakic91 You may be right but the 3rd point is the funniest.Lol you don't think that is going to happen to Liverpool do you? The reason Man Utd won all those trophies was because they were good enough and prob would have won those trophies regardless of winning the Carling Cup.Birmingham City won the Carling cup last season but it didn't stop them from getting relegated and regardless of this Liverpool are not good enough at the moment to win the league.

@jackmilo89 Not at the moment, agree. But it will boost the lads, and motivate them to work hard. If you saw the starting lineup to Man City, they started with their best team for a reason. They wanted to go to Wembley, and City is more than good enought to win the EPL.

And we dont score enough goals, but we have also been very and unlucky and hit the woodwork like 22 times or something. But a trophy is better then no trophy, right?

You can see this when liverpool play chelsea, we win because we're better. We're not as lucky and for some wierd reason we're not as consistant. Torres is definitely not playing in a better team

If Liverpool are so good why are you 7th (depending on Arsenal and Newcastle results) I already said our defence has been good bar this season.You have a good defence but you struggle to score goals.Bellamy is a good player but he's not better than Drogba on his best day neither is he better than Mata and is he better than Sturridge No plus he struggles to play 2 games in a week because of his knees.I'd have Terry and Cahill over Agger and Skrtel.
