None of AA's original S80s, or any of the reconfigured TWA MD-80s, have IFE. You might be remembering 757s or 737s, both of which have IFE across the AAL system and play safety videos instead of the purser doing the announcement. To my knowledge it's always been this way on the MD-80, been flying them for a long time. If any of them did have IFE (A very small minority then), the systems have long since been removed.
