I've actually heard that when filming series like the Sopranos (on HBO and showtime with no limit to language and sex), the cast will sometimes film an alternate version of a scene that's ready for syndication. But I don't know whether or not that's actually true.

A&E edits the show pretty good. Not really that much. All they edit is some cuss words,and when they show it at night their allowed to use the word "shit" at least. So give it a break. At least it's not like when anime gets censored.
