  • THE FUTURE IS COMING

  • noob interface i dislike this

  • First thing I thought of when I say this: Board games have reached a new level.

  • yes make those real!!

the technology in the movie avatar is coming! haha

  • People get so wound up and defensive on You Tube. Is there really any need for uneducated plebs like @Cti90210 to call me a "STUPID MOTHER F*****R"? I'm away to cry into my Christmas pudding :(

  • WHAT's ELSE APPLE INVENTION BESIDE -IPHONE- IPOD- MAC COMPUTER IPAD -tHAT's iT

  • I want one for my home! My family and kids will love playing with it. :)

  • future is coming, really reminds me of A Day Made of Glass. Check it out. They predicted it in the video, now it`s coming true. I`m really impressed.

  • これってもう発売してるんですか?

  • @abemichihiro hai, i know a restaurant that is using these tables

  • @pYthQn Thank you for your answering! I wanna see this!

  • is that rupaul?

  • Wait till Apple release their version.... bye bye Microsoft

  • @ryan0000000001 okay :D go and play with your iphone 4s :P Old hardware + ceo comment like "our stuff works good together" = super high price for piece of crap.

  • @ryan0000000001 yeah rite ?

think twice before you post idiot STUPID MOTHER F*****R

  • Now people can buy my stuff while having dinner, nt bad at all :D

  • okay iphone is so steev jobs with this....

  • Yes. All those Sci-Fi movies from the 70's and 80's ... here we come !

  • The future is coming!!

  • One day this will be holographic if not even controlled in your mind.

  • Take note Apple, THIS is innovation

  • I hope this reaches more consumers. I can see the future!

  • Board games on this would be awesome! Have the screen display the board and it detects real pieces and the numbers you roll with the dice.

  • Fact but true: Samsung is better than anything else, Apple use Samsung and Microsoft use Samsung too.. Even Android is bigger with Samsung. Bwhehee.. :p

  • i think the parody of this makes me like it more

  • Darn It I Spilled Soda On My Microsoft Surface -.-?

  • OMG Playing Left 4 Dead 2, or Call of Duty with this!! OMG

  • Holy god - its minority report - yeeeeha!

  • looks good and all... but can it blend??

  • I think I ll have to have an X-ray of fingers considering how hard we need to push on that screen

  • DIS IS A FUTRA!!!

  • lol gotta wait for the sarcasticgamer parody

  • where can you buy one

  • ONLY $99,99,99.99!!!!!! ^-^

  • here comes the star wars era >:D

  • I see the iTable coming...

  • If only you can put this on a tablet

  • some people are too busy being microsoft haters. this kind of stuff will be the norm of the future. probably your grand kids wallpaper in their house will have this kind of interface. E-paper already exists but im sure if microsoft uses it people will say its trash but oh im sure if apple starts using it then all the fanboys will love it.

  • Whenever I saw that she was pregnant I thought she was going to press her stomach on the Surface to scan the baby lol

  • Microsoft - Be what's next. MSFT is now proving it's new slogan by creating futuristic products like Surface and Kinect! :)

  • This is so awesome!

  • limitless possibilities, brings people together, breaks down barriers. Really. Is it for sale yet? What colour is the death screen? Is Office on it? The advert focused on photos and the hardware. I didnt notice anything exciting. I didnt see anything i couldnt do with a pile of papers, except the phone to table talking thing (whatever it did I;m not sure)

  • Where can you download the software?

  • What if they had this in schools

  • are there gonna be virus in this software

  • @justinjiang You're such a bad troll --'

  • i'd only trust samsung with this kind of screen. i have got to say, they make the greatest TVs, and they're not ridiculously expensive and pretentious either. that said, i'd only trust microsoft with this kind of software. if this product will be anything as reliable as windows 7 when it's released, and anything as powerful as a PC that can run any program or game, this will be the best touch-screen device evarr. this will probably open an entirely new market. finally something different.

  • The Surface should be upgradeable. Who wants to throw out a $10k monitor simply because the computer inside is obsolete?

  • what MS needs to do is to take out the PC in Surface to low the cost and connect the Surface to Xbox. Have a lot of board games for Surface to work with Xbox. The have should market the Surface for schools.

  • Now after seeing this,, microsoft is waay better to apple to me

  • @wikimati10 except apple's products are actually successful, while after 5 years, I still have not seen a single microsoft surface anywhere...

  • I want one, Microsoft. :)

  • Things like this and the Razer switchblade are making me excited for the coming years of computers. Multi-touch will be a BIG deal. 3D will probably fly over as a gimmick, though.

  • This seems more like a professional device for an office environment, not something you would have in your house. And if you were to have these for tables at resturants(Like Microsoft have suggested) they would have to be water proof, easy to clean and VERY durable.

  • if this becomes available im buying it as my TV

  • @true13rownstyle You're going to look down at your TV? Do you hate you neck or something? :S

  • @gangster301 same as looking a a binder on a table.lol

  • Comment removed

  • @gangster301

no, unlike you i dont suck that much penises that my neck has evolved super cocksucking abilities...ill have it on d wall dummy, like duhhh, how stupid can you be, basically its my tv just more interactive you fuqin airhead

  • @gangster301

*ahem* i forgot to say chickenhead

  • I usually go to Apple for innovative and great user interface experiences but this is probably the MOST intuitive touch-based device I have ever seen. Amazing job Microsoft (just try keep Metro consistent throughout the UI ;)

  • Looks awesome but everyone posting on here knows in their heart of hearts that Microsoft will drop the ball and it'll be totally unreliable. I mean, come on, they still can't get even the simplest HTML5 code to work in IE...

  • @bently42 Who says they are actively trying?

  • @bently42 They working on it for an incredibly long time to ensure utmost quality. It won't be unreliable. The technology is already in it. If anything on it is unreliable, it will be the third party developers fault. When stuff microsoft makes has time and quality put into it, great things happen. Look at Kinect, that's just paving the way for something like this to be successful. Sure it's super expensive now, just wait a few years and see how cheap and accessible it is, and how awesome! :)

  • You know, I hate almost all things Microsoft, not because I'm a fanboy, but because I just don't like the way they work (and sometimes don't work). The Xbox 360 is an exception, and now- so is this! I love the idea! I just hope it doesn't die out and disappear like the first one did =/

  • between this and Porsche making a hybrid... its apparent that 2012 is right around the corner.

  • Microsoft is going down. No new technology equals down hill.

  • damn!

  • I tried the first one at Disneyland and it's look awesome!

and this one gonna be a lot better !

    cool product, Microsoft.

  • So, would this be able to say, run Photoshop, Mudbox, Zbrush, 3ds Max and other programs along those lines?

  • Comment removed

  • @MetalBluesRock "It's only 4 inches thin. Inside here there's a full-power Windows 7 PC. It's got a dual core CPU, and a GPU from AMD. Op top, this is the biggest piece of guerrilla glass that has ever been bonded to an LCD ever." So yes: Photoshop, Mudbox, Zbrush, 3ds Max and other programs along those lines will run on the surface. That quote was from the live stream, btw.

  • I understand that someone won't understand me but this is another prove that people get stupider. I say nothing bad about technology. But Microsoft shows that a future mother becomes even more happier not because she looks at a baby but because she can play with window on that table and father record video from it (like with such technologies he can't just download via USB or blutooth). Other pair can't imagine the color. And Microsoft shows all this like it is everyones life dream. I feel sick

  • the first couple at the store; they paid, and the hit print, and when they got home, everything was updated...

  • I think this is probably the best technology, next to XBOX, that Microsoft has going for them.

  • I want one! Imagine the gaming possibilities! But is it spill proof!?

  • @myassishappy Yes, it is spill proff and it is very very highly durable!!!

  • Comment removed

  • this would have been cool if apple came out with it.

  • The future is here!

  • Can't wait for the BSoD pictures. This thing will hang like theres no tomorrow. What does it cost btw?

  • While uploading your cute baby's ultrasound video looks cool, Dr.s will never let you do that. They don't let you take home videos of the ultrasound for insurance purposes. If something is wrong when the baby is born, someone could use the video to find something the Dr. should have seen and done something about it or let the parents know. That's what they have told us with all of our kids.

Otherwise, this looks like a sweet product. I'd like to have one one day as a business owner.

  • Cant wait for big ass table 2 ;)

  • How do people read upside down lol?

  • It's just an oversized Ipad...

  • @inesis oh yeah cause ipads can recognize objects on its touchscreen surface.......

  • @LilHardstyler08 Ironical comment recognition fail....

  • @inesis cool story man

  • @inesis Microsoft came up with the technology first. They just decided to make it as good as possible before making it widely available. You'll be eating your comment when you can get a hold of one of these...

  • I really love it!! I want it...what's the price? :p

  • @studmayur89 well that depends are you willing to learn how to walk with arms then there's you're first bid

  • Wow, I saw this years ago. is it actually coming out now?

  • finally the technology that will be on spaceships is here in front of my eyes kewl

  • Now only more than you can afford.

  • YESTERDAY IS HERE.

  • FINALLY the FUTURE BABY

  • And this isn't even factoring in sex on the table. Imagine when someone sits naked on the Guerrilla Glass those little waves come out and stuff like that. More visual experience! o_O (obviously would be made by an unsupported third party). I know, it's kinda taboo, but I just had to state the true possibilities of this revolutionary device. xD On a serious note, at least MS is perfecting the product before mass consumption, and making things work unlike Apple and their lack of multitasking, etc.

  • The fact is, MS came out with Kinect, before Apple. MS came out with gaming, before Apple. MS had the surface, before the iPhone. MS is the one who cares about their products, as well as how well they sell. When you got someone like Apple, constantly trying to go back in time making us do things that *used to be fun, and trying to make things freakishly simply, it gets too much. I'm not saying there's no audience for Apple, but Apple only cares about $ and looks rather than QUALITY products (MS)

  • мне и без этой йухни нормально!!!

  • Simulated screens.

  • The Future is NOW

  • Comment removed

  • @TheLeonardHofstadter

You're fucking stupid. Apple would just make it "more simple and easier to use" and charge an extra 20%.

    PC>Mac

    Droid>iPhone

  • @yumtoast In terms of phones I definitely agree. In terms of computers, if it's anything resource intensive I agree. Things like video and graphics editing can be a more streamlined process on macs, and there are a couple neat things. HOWEVER, I hate how you can't just access the system folders and info as easily as windows, or to just be able to do things in the way windows allows. At least on windows, you don't need to pay $ to get something powerful. for internet ppl: apple. everyone else: MS

  • @yumtoast more like 50%

  • I've played with 1, it's pretty nice:D a bit laggy if u got a lot of stuff working at the same time but great for companies who can make use of it:D

  • i would rather wait for an Apple version.

  • ye but can u have sex on it

  • So does this still cost an unreasonable amount of money?

  • Now my table is going to freeze up and turn blue.

  • the new era has begun...

  • HAHA.

The most rated comments are all rated by the employees at Microsoft. And the uploader comment? Obviously fake.

Seriously? COLLABORATION doesn't happen enough? I don't know where you work, but there are ways to share your work via computers.

Not sure if Microsoft is that far yet.

Sorry, our firm doesn't have 10 Million dollars to buy a bunch of Microsoft Surfaces.

Yes, this post is obviously a troll. If you engage in a Microsoft vs Apple conversation, you obviously misunderstood my point.

  • @Praiana compra umas mesinhas dessas pra por no pub.

  • Thats actually pretty cool.I'd love to have that as the new age of board games and such. Going to be interesting year of new technology. I love this.

  • @WickedDragon86 The point of board games is to get away from computers and to use your own brain instead of relying on A.I. I like to play board games and tabletop games the 'old fashioned' way with real dice, real maps, pen and paper, plastic minis etc. It gives a different experience and a break from video games. Things like Surface are just horizontal computer screens with some extra sensors built in. The tech is cool but rather pointless.

  • @dukethepcdr As the surface recognises object placed on it, only the board itself would be digital. Stratego, Monopoly, Poker, etc... would all be the exact same. You'll still throw dice. You'll still move your pawns. You'll still draw cards.

You'll just do all that on a screen with an animated digital board. It'll be an awesome experience for sure.

  • Now surface is powered with an Athlon II X2 embedded cpu + HD6700M.

  • I really dig this. It's going to be huge.

  • What... two people are stupid and/or clueless?

  • Now this is a taste of the future i would like to live in!

  • I played with the first gen surface at the AT&T store, but later I went to play with it again and it was gone. I asked why and they said it wasn't useful. I think the idea is great, but come on MS, quit being so theoretical and release something we can actually use!

  • @lullabud

You mean like this but smaller with useless and retarded apps that arent collaborative?

Yeah you need another company for that, not MS.

  • @jabberwolf Not sure why I'm responding to a troll, but anyhow... Have you ever played with a MS surface? Most people haven't. I'm not saying I want them to be like Apple, I'm saying I want them to release this thing and the supporting APIs so that people can start programing apps for devices that people can actually buy.

  • @lullabud The good news is that we launched our Microsoft Surface Toolkit for Windows Touch beta early last year that provided many controls that you see on Surface for Windows Touch devices for the PC. This allows application developers to create apps for the PC with some of the same interactions. bit.ly dZP1cA

  • the first guy wearing a blue t-shirt looks a lot like George Bush

  • The logo kinda looks like it has a penis in it.

  • Kinda like an iphone, only 10x the size

  • @kutluokan

I'm sure the technology involved is significantly more complex and advanced

  • @kutluokan

Actually MS had this technology long before the iphone.

apple just decided to create dinky, weak but scrolly OS and get people to write small usless but fun apps for it.

This is why MS is a computer company and apple is a toy company.

  • @jabberwolf What the hell you are talking about? It's Micro$oft who first ripped off Apple from "windows" design and whole solutions how OS should look like. Truth is everybody is ripping off everybody. That is why they all now play with patents. I am not Apple fan but I am not Micro$oft fan either.

  • @jabberwolf

LOL!! You're a moron and the people that liked your comment are swimming in the same shallow end of the gene pool as yourself. TOOL!!

  • @jabberwolf How nice is Microsoft for waiting to poor Apple to take that advantaje with iPhones, iPods and iPads and the billions of dolars in profit that this technologies is producing for Apple, it is clear that microsoft doesn´t want that dirty money. Maybe in another 10 or 15 years when Surface 7.0 is ready for market.

  • omg omg omg omg omg :0

  • It's wonderful!!!

  • The fact that it costs 7000 USD already puts it out of the hands of the mass market where the biggest number of consumers are.

The most important thing about technology is to make it accessible. Otherwise you can build a Starship Enterprise and nobody will care.

  • @Mack786 On that note; do you remember how much plasma- and lcd-screens cost when they first arrived the market? :)

  • @skogpekka

The original Surface is approaching 5 years old now and the next iteration is even more expensive. Surely Microsoft would benefit from releasing even something that cuts corners to make it to the consumer market.

Maybe they can keep Surface 1 around and sell it to consumers for a little cheaper while they sell Surface 2 to richer clients? They really should bring this technology to consumer markets IMHO.

  • @Mack786 Actually, this is nearly half the price of Surface 1.0.

  • @surface

Damn I thought Surface was 4000 USD, didn't realise there was a 1 in front of that.

Honestly speaking do you think something like this could be on the market within 5 years at a pricepoint of say a thousand USD?

I know its asking for a lot but the consumers would fall over themselves for this. If the tech minded people are impressed by this technology just imagine the laymans reaction.

  • @Mack786 No worries. We've had people think Surface 1.0 was $4000. We've had people think it was $50,000. For most, it didn't matter anyway because it is for businesses anyway. We'd love to get more of this awesome tech to consumers. We worked really hard with Samsung to tackle the size and reliability with some crazy amazing innovation. If Kinect as a consumer device is any sign of where things are headed, I'm very optimistic about where we will be in five years.

  • @surface

Thanks for the replies and best of luck with the project.

  • @Mack786 Cheers. :)

  • @Mack786 I would have to disagree. The most important thing of technology is to advance within it; to constantly revolutionize and reach milestones in what is conceived as possible. Sure, reaching a market is important from a business aspect, but, through perfecting the technology before releasing it, will conclude in higher payouts. From the looks of E3, Kinect was originally going to be released last year, but it wasn't. It was perfected with devs and its build. You cannot deny 8 million sales

  • The MS Surface 1 was running very well the last 4 years. We never had probs in daily usage. From MS Surface 2 I expect the same. We can imagine that our clients will be very satiesfied again. I am excited to see the new modell. Thx. MS for the new Surface and the WPF plattform!

  • The Microsoft Surface 2.0 Experience

  • I wonder how longs its gonna be before apple comes out with its shitty knock off and stevee jobs try to play it up as the greatest most revolutionary thing ever when in fact it will have shitty ios just like everything else.

  • @DevanPx

I wonder how long its gonna be before Microsoft comes up with something with a touch surface that actually isnt sucky, and Steve Balmer tries to play it up as a way better product than the iDevices, even though sales numbers are so low, they have to pull it from the market, because the fact is that its shitty like everything else from Microsoft.

  • @DevanPx sir i love you for saying this.

  • @DevanPx When Steve Jobs figures out how to sell the world's recipes from the AppStore on your iTable.

  • @DevanPx you say that but we all know apple makes the best products...

  • @TheLeonardHofstadter some of apple's products might be pretty good quality but they are way overpriced and for what reason? I don't see anything that really sets them apart from the competition they purposely make they product behind the curve so they can add features that other devices already and have in future products and the apple sheep will wait in line for a week for it

  • @DevanPx Yeah, but the difference is, it'll sell and will make it accessible to actual human beings. (I'm not a Macolyte, but reality can be cruel to MS fanboys.)

  • Amasing!

  • Microsoft already sold some v3 versions to the Asgards of Stargate SG1. :)

  • Do want.

  • I saw this on the live event stream yesterday. Looks awesome! They use infrared, (integrating technology that makes Kinect work) to allow the table to see objects which are placed upon it. It look stunning. I'd love to be able to develop games for it, and use it with a team of people for collaboration. It's the perfect tool to use for designing things like games, because it allows multiple people to collaborate, all drawing things and adding on to the design in a way that works without confusion

  • @Forgineers sorry about the poor grammar. There were no characters left and I just went and posted it before fixing my mistakes. :/

  • @Forgineers You got it exactly. Collaboration is something that doesn't happen a lot in computing today. Surface changes that. By the way, or original Surface used infrared in a similar fashion, albeit older and bulkier technology. From Surface 1.0 to Kinect to Surface 2.0, we've gotten a lot of experience with this type of imaging. The result is awesome products.

  • @surface I totally agree. I had a feeling since its announcement that the Kinect would be a huge hit. When I was one of the first in line and played the demo on launch night, I was in awe at how well it detected my motions without delay. To have such a technology improved with surface integration, creating things like design docs would be a much more involved experience. Either an advanced whiteboard, when showing to large audiences, or a table with others around it. The possibilities = endless.

  • @surface What's the difference between this Samsung LCD and the Sharp Optical Sensor LCD? This one is only IR?

  • @surface The first thing I thought when I saw surface 1.0 was "family board games". Literally EVERY old school board game could be taken to this device in an incredible way.

Games like RoboRally would own so much... If you don't know the game, google it, you'll see what I mean.

Playing that on surface would be nothing short of freaking hilarious.

  • @Forgineers Wish my daughter could play with one of these at the centre for cerebral palsy in Coimbra. do you think we could get one donated??

  • this is the fucking future~!

  • Microsoft and there revolutionary ground braking technology , and EVERYBODY LOVES IT =D In the videos. Real life is another thing tho.
