Is it a re-recording, are you snging with yourself. It let me think about old New Orleans fblues and jazz, and about a group I heard on a recording in the sixties, on a record of the Newport Folk Festival, but I didn't remember the name of this group.
Thanks, SirCoughsalot. She did it rather differently, but her version certainly made an impression on me. It was the first track on her album, "My Eyes Have Seen" and the first time I had ever heard (or heard of)Odetta.
Very good! it's nice to hear this melismatic style of singing.
I've been overdubbing myself a bit, too, since doing call & response is sometimes logistically hard otherwise. I find that it is a little weird tho, to hear myself doubled, since the timbres of both/all voices are identical--the my attempt at creating a chorus is like creating a doppleganger of myself instead. I wonder how you felt listening back to your performance.
Yes, I've noticed that in some of your videos. It does sound a bit strange to hear everyone singing in my own voice. It would be nice to have a real backing group, but we have to work with what we've got.
How appropriate a tribute to the legacy of Odetta!
I do so enjoy your multiple overtones! Right now,we are working on having twenty five of my students building up a harmonic convergence to replicate a 300 voice Gregorian Chant. Wish us luck!
Your vocalization tour de force was both inspired and very moving.

The use of multiple tracks does give this spiritual an "authentic feel."
Your experience in the Welsh Choir pays dividends here.

Interesting little attempt at multi-tracking.

Yes, as I said to Stewball, my resources are limited. It would be better with the right equipment.

Thanks, Max. I don't have the facilities to do it as well as I'd like to, but I like to experiment with the limited tools at my disposal.
