  • These niggas are mad funny!

  • Jay-z cant compete

  • Yo Jay-Z is still dope, its lil Wayne whose the shitty lyricist. This is coming from a sixteen year old who listens to krs-one, kool G rap, Rakim, Nas, & Talib Kweli.

  • @AnOmiCKs No one gives a fuck how old you are. not impressed.

  • Woooow i love the def but he just recited "pretty dancer" freestyle my ass

  • mos def would destroy jayz and wayne... jay z can atleast hang close, but wayne wont even touch him... i agree that eminem would be on par with mos def... they rapping styles are very similar.

  • Don't this cat look like a wizard

  • this is weed working its magic lol

  • wayne would only battle mos if lots of money was involved

  • forget the 'who's best debate. when did Mos start rapping like DOOM?

  • MOs DEFA the emcees emcee lol.

  • mos all day

  • "Stop eatin the fucking Blue Pill homie!"

  • Mos is my boy but lupe is the best

  • haha, i dont even think lupe would say hes better than mos lol

  • that's true tho mos is nice and always would be but lupe is fresh his the new voice for hip hop in my opinion listen to "Hurt Me Soul" or "Streets On Fire" those songs are timeless......mos already proved his better then mainstream rappers. mos is in my top thats all that matters lol but lupe is the best

  • iiight, im not gonna hate on ur opinion..cause lupe is nice, not in the same class as mos but hes nice..but ill say this, if we wanna talk about new voices in hiphop...ill put jay electronica over lupe....id also put elzhi over lupe. go listen to the pledge by jay elect or "thats that one" by elzhi those tracks lyrically are better than anything lupe got, but thats just my opinion lol

  • It's all opinion in the end...ima check out jay electronica....my top 6 are jay-z blackstar nas BIG tu pac and dead prez ......lol its like a top 8 if you think about it

  • yeah its not a bad top 6 although its crazy to have a top list without big l, big pun, rakim and krs1 , all those mcs are better than jayz but yeah, its all opinion in the end..my list would be filled with all the best lyricist cause thats what i like..i dont care about songs about swagger and money and blazay blazay so canibus would def be in mine aswell, never thought about making a toplist, i wouldnt be able to put them in order lol o yeah, monch and andre 3000 would be in there 2

  • NO U FAIL IM SORRY

  • Mos defs hero is MF DOOM.

  • Put all them cats one track and that would go live...

  • Besides Talib

  • Mos Def would destroy everybody in the industry. PERIOD.

  • eminem, black thought and canibus would get mos def.

  • Bet money Andre 3000 give it to Mos Def. GEORGIA!!

  • My money would be on Mos. But I don't think my boy could stand up to Cannibus.

  • Comment removed

  • the real problem with hiphop is the fans...most will say lil wayne or jayz are the best because they dont know any better...actually go listen to some of the mcs that people are naming..and no, u wont find them on mtv, go do ur research, stop acting like reasonable doubt was the best album made, it was just the best jayz album! so instead of just saying ur opinion, try defending these people with some of there lyrics and ull see u dont know shit!!!

  • Lyrically alot of artists are better than Jay Z, but it takes more than that to be a great artist. I just personally like the MUSIC on reasonable doubt(only that album really). I listen to Mos Def, and Monch, Kweli, Rakim, NaS, etc. But reasonable doubt is still a regular album I listen to, same wit illmatic, alot of Big L, Black On Both Sides, etc. id listen to Jay Z over Cannabis or IT, mainly coz their beats and flow rnt appealing to me, minus the fact they r more lyrical.

    fuck wayne also

  • I had 2 hustle, my back to the wall, ashy knuckles/Pockets filled with a lot of lint, not a cent/Gotta vent, lot of innocent of lives lost on the project benchWhatchu hollerin'? Gotta pay rent, bring dollars in/By the bodega, iron under my coat, feelin braver/Doo-rag wrappin my waves up, pockets full of hope/

im defending him knowing hes not the best, but he doesnt need to be seen as someone whose just another shitty artist, even Blue magic has shown to hav some thoughtful rhyming

  • i dont look at jayz as another shitty mc...he got talent, dope flow but his latest work doesnt show it..i mean, its not as horrible as the other shit being played right now but he hasnt put out anything memorable...but look how mosdef did to the jayz take over beat..mosdefs the rape over is a much better track than jayz the take over....i think we can all agree that mosdef is the truth!!!

  • YES!

  • @tameone ur a retard for saying that becuz all rap is, is opinion i think Jay-Z the best rapper alive not off of pure lyricism becuz of everything he done in rap so u sounded retarded complaining becuz probably ur fav rappers isnt getting as much attention as u think they should wayne sukcs but lyrics will always be opinion i know ppl who think gucci is lyrical so dont be all angry n say jay not that good compared to other rappers becuz lyrics is not a factor in mainstream sad but true

  • THE MIGHTY MOS!

  • yo honestly theres a few of u up in here straight fakin the funk. i hate when emcees start braggin but mos got braggin rights!!!!!!! reasonable doubt is no where near as solid as illmatic was n that album took years b4 it went platinum but received the most critical acclaim from real ass hip hop fans!!! so fuck sales!!! mos respects the game & the artform his mastery of the english language makes him the illest emcee of our generation n if the shit he says goes over anyones head u dont

  • deserve to be a hip hop fan. fuck opinions, state facts. there r emcees out there that dont get the light that belong on a top 10 b4 most of these garbage rappers. respect those that respect the craft, those n only those belong on that list. some of yall need your history lessons cuz real emcees r "timeless" n will forever be relevant. TRUTHSPEAKS, SPEAKS TRUTH but i dont agree w/ the b.i.g. thing jay wouldnt exist if not for b.i.g. n he is still unfuckwittable. RESPECT THE ARCHITECTS.

    PEACE.

  • finally someone gets it. you obviously HEAR the difference between a lyricist and a rapper.

  • mos def is a true artist. jay and lil wayne

are rhyme sayers with good beats.

check "mos def untitled" and see, NO one

can take it there but mos def.

  • dont get me wrong, ive enjoyed a lot of jays music, but he was in the right place at the right time... in some ways its like the way weezy has been getting all the hype ever since jay geared towards retirement...

what ive really wanted to say is that im gettin tired of rap and i catch myself listening to same damn cds over and over again... the best of rapping is behind us and i think were all just desperate to look for answers.

  • When it comes down to it all rappers are in the right place at the right time when they get fame.... jay was put into the big and pac situation and took full advantage of it with one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever reasonable doubt... and if you dont like the album or jay you really have to respect MOST or at least some of his work...

  • and yes reasonable doubt was a nice album along with in my lifetime VOL 1 BUUUT im not gonna call him the best lyricist of all time. i don't even think pac or big were the best at that time. they were just hot for that time. thats it.

  • ive steadily listened to rap since about '93, '94... what i have noticed about jay though is that after vol. 2 came out with the annie joint, he just kind of elevated himself off the map... everyone was looking for a savior after biggie and pac and he was the obvious choice with so much publicity surrounding him... im pretty sure it was all around the 96/97 time frame... and since then he just ran with it and now we want to compare every other rapper to him...

  • everyones got their opinions, but if your opinion is so strong and your mind is so convinced that you cant even acknowledge another persons (im not saying accepting and agreeing, im saying acknowledge) then your opinion dont mean nothin either.

the fan base for all these different rappers that ive seen talked about in the past few comments are very different from one another so obviously many peoples opinions are a bit bias.

  • I don`t know why niggaz are sleeping on 3000...bettta go do your research.

  • you right but all these guys are in categories of there own LIL WAYNE shouldnt even be in this conversation HE JUST GOT HOT YALL

  • Lil Wayne... are you listening kid? Keep Hip Hop Alive. Thanks Mos. One, Maka

  • wtf is ''bing twing twing with bangas and twing thingas''?

  • u cant rape rappers, mc's, lyricist, srtis period, they offer diferent things, dont matter whos better, they fulfill their purposes, lil wayne can beatlupe fiasco in a battle, but when it comes to depth, lupe will kill wayne, but hey, jay-z is main street, mos def is more neo-soul rapper i guess, he doesnt have a title, but alot of people can rap better than a lot of other people, but u have to be the total package, mos is not, jay-z is

  • As I just posted on another Mos thread....Mos Def's rhyming and storytelling abilities are infinitely better than Wayne's. I'm not a Wayne hater, but he's more of a freestyle punchline rapper than a full-fledged, well-rounded EMCEE. That's just the facts. Now, Mos Def vs Jay? That'd be something I'd pay to see. As far as pure talent goes, I'd say they are equals. The only slight edge Jay has over Mos is variety of flow.

  • Mos sounds a little drunk

  • lil wayne yea buut he aint fuckin wit jay-z and i kno that didnt laugh at andre his a beast

  • Def would kill Lil wayne in his sleep do u know how crazy Def is lyrically. But i don't know about Jay it would be a great battle though but lil wayne sucks bad like very bad. Andre 3000 that would be cool also but wayne is not that great with lyrics .

  • there were some fake laughs in there, dick riders..scrotum lickers..haha

  • Yup, the guys laughing at Andre 3000 were the worst

  • Mos Def killed it. But I like JayZ and he is my fav rapper bcuz of the way he introduces his topics in his songs. Jay speaks to a WHOOOLEE different type of people. But Mos is da truth.

  • no one raps anymore for the sport--the spirit of competition.

ciphers are on the decline too. we love to see all this happen tho.

  • You are all idiots, if anything MC is more of a entertainer than a rapper. An MC stands for Master of Ceremonies. There is no such thing as real hip hop and unreal hip hop, if it's rhymed over 4/4 time signature it's rap music, rap music is part of hip hop. Soulja Boy is just as much hip hop as KRS One. Now please stop arguing.

  • hahaha soulja boy is just as much hiphop as krs one..wow, u dont know shit..thats like comparing al sharpton to dr king!!! and theres a big difference in rap music now and what people are calling hiphop...we arent stupid , we all know hiphop is the culture and not just the rap part but with people calling lil wayne and soulja boy mcs...we needed a way to seperate them from what some call real mc's! real mcs represent the culture..the rappers out now do not, thats the difference!!!

  • No, you just need to learn the difference between good and bad rappers.

  • Thank GOD!

Aardvark and DanBootleg know what they're talking about.

Soulja boy is just a lame rapper.

I wish all the ones ACTING like they know what they are talking about would LISTEN.

  • To rebut what you are saying, Krs One would also say Soulja Boy is just as much hip hop as him. Also who are u to judge what is real or not, I bet you consider Grandmaster Flash hip hop, well wasn't the first line of his first record "I said a hip hop hippity to the hip hip hop a don't stop"?, not very lyrical at all, and was also a dance record. So how is that different from any snap artist? If you don't like it don't listen to it simple as that, if you do like it buy it.

  • That was the Sugar Hill Gang.

  • haha yeah, that was the message from sugar hill gang...and as for grandmaster flash, ofcourse thats hiphop

    "Broken glass everywhere

People pissing on the stairs, you know they just

    Dont care

I cant take the smell, I cant take the noise

Got no money to move out, I guess I got no choice

Rats in the front room, roaches in the back

Junkies in the alley with a baseball bat

I tried to get away, but I couldnt get far

Cause the man with the tow-truck repossessed my car" u feeling stupid right now huh

  • Why should I feel stupid?, you're the close minded person. We can sit here and type all day about this, but in the end I'm right and you're wrong, rap music has a lot of sub genres, you're not going to like everything. But until someone dies and names you the rapper god then you have no right to tell people what is real and what is not.

  • Long answer means you lost, yhbt,

  • i was reading your comments and i completly agree. i dont have a problem with soljaboy or his snap shit but when you say somthing as stupid as nas destroyed hip-hop or diss a hip-hop pioneer like ice-t thats where the problem comes in

  • Ice-T started on him, so in my opinion that's the problem. I mean leave lil homie alone he just trying to get bread, just like Ice-T was. The Nas ish is whatever, I think what he said went over people's heads, cause he was right no one said Hip-Hop was dead until Nas put that album out. I'm not even a fan of him but I can see what he's saying.

  • are you serious?

KRS-One was talkin Hip Hop was dead forever.

Andre 3000 in 2001 was talkin Hip Hop was dead.

Do ya homework, brah, it aint new. Nas was just the biggest mouth.

  • Do YOUR homework, LAST YEAR he was in an interview with 50 talking about how it's not dead, you fans are so stupid, if hip hop dies it's your fault, because I would be that most of you do not buy music you like. So in a nutshell if you don't support music, your opinion doesn't matter.

  • but we dont want to count out andre 3000 in this convo cuz they tryna play him in the video... fuk all the "its a mc, its a rapper" jive, they are artist b4 anythng,,, thy paint pics wit there rhymes, they are the vincent van gough and and warhol of this craft, they dont need to be put in any category but that, ARTIST, i think mos is kinda hollin tho... HE can spit stupid... but JAY AND WEEZY CAN... but fuck the nigga in the video.. if they was in front of anyo1 they would ride his penis HARD

  • They are just joking around in this video, the guy who uploaded it has said that MANY times already.

    As for Mos ?

He's better than Wayne and pretty much on the same level as Jay.

Also don't listen to the guys pretending to know everything about Hip Hop.

An emcee and a rapper fill the same role.

  • weezy used to be good now hes wak

  • canibus would still tear him up off the cuff

  • YOU SEE ME!!, mos is a killah man, the Darwin line was some penetrating shit

  • man 1000% ...that line was the uppercut, and the over hand right all in 1 lol

  • Wayne is not a hot mc...he appeals to a bunch of dum dums who don't know REAL hip hop. E 40? Are you serious...hes not even in the top 1000! Its only 5 MC's who are deep enough to bring it to MOS..KRS,Kweli,Lupe,Jay,Nas....no one else can even comprehend the 3D lyrics that MOS has...one line can have 3 different meanings...all of which are relevant...We are talking MC's yall...not RAPPERs...there is a major difference!

  • LMAO Just stop right now PLEASE. You don't know what your talking about.

There is not a difference between an Emcee and a Rapper.

    THEY DO THE SAME THING.

As for people with deep introspective lyrics.

Lupe,Nas, Krs and Kweli aren't the only rappers who do that.

As for E-40 I don't even think he is a rapper more like a hyphy hype man.

  • yeeeesss there is a difference...

emcee = a martial artist who practices his craft

rapper = a street fighter who just wants to get paid

see i can already tell your the type that over value's swagger and all that glitz and pop glamor stuff. it just depends on what you value. do u want bruce lee or do you want kimbo slice?

  • Pseudo-intellectual hip-hop fans are the fucking worst.

  • see thats how you know there is a prob with the world. when you get knocked for being intelligent. lol listen. i like people who can legitimately spit on the mic. it doesn't take much talent to spout a nursery school like rhyme about ice and bitches but it does take talent to spit similes, metaphors, rhyme patterns, etc etc. if you don't like that hey thats fine but that takes more talent then just throwing words together that rhyme.

  • There was nothing intelligent in what you said buddy, people need to stop being so fucking concerned about their image to the point they invent some moronic system to separate the rappers they like from the rappers they don't.

In the hip-hop world, soulja boy is completely irrelevant and nobody but a complete and utter idiot would ever put him on the same level as KRS.

It's like the people who try to split up rap and hip-hop into 2 separate genres, absolutely stupid.

  • So true.

even though Soulja boy isn't a lyrical genius.

    HE IS STILL an EMCEE/RAPPER.

I know it pisses people off that you don't necessarily have to have talent to get people to listen.

But hey it's already been proven with Soulja boy.

  • "even though Soulja boy isn't a lyrical genius.

    HE IS STILL an EMCEE/RAPPER."

and it's statements like that which allow me to not take anything you say seriously.... sorry but i can't even debate with you anymore after this statement. lol...

  • LMFAO! WOW MAN WOOOOOW

  • oh yeah i saw that and realized IMMEDIATELY that i need to stop responding to anything he says. he's either a net troll or he really has no clue about the difference between emcees and rappers.

  • Comment removed

  • o, and i dont consider soulja boy hiphop cause i dont even consider him a rapper!!! im a bboy so most people i chill with are into hiphop(the culture) and i meet a lot of heads that freestyle and rap but i dont consider them all rappers. what happend to rhyme and reason? wordplay, metaphors? i never said ur flow had to be conscious, but u gotta be able to actually put bars together..soulja boy doesnt, HE'S NOT HIPHOP danbootleg!!!

  • yeah there are too many people on here that are drinking the commercial hip hop koolaid. i mean i can't even blame it on the age gap because i know some 20 year old cats who loooove real emcees. but hey if they wanna be fed ish and love it then let em. lol imma stick to my "real hip hop". lol

  • No it's not that.

It's just that I actually know what I'm talking about .

I'm not a troll if anything your the one looking like a troll right now.

Go to any respectable hip hop forum and people will laugh at the comments your making.

    treating emcee's like martial artists.

You might as well Diss all the west coast rappers who weren't dropping rhymes like nas.

The only people I ever hear say "Real Hip Hop" are either backpackers or Conscious fans.

  • ok well if you don't understand analogies then thats your problem. and after your souja boy comment.....YOUR DONE. you lost all credibility. sooooo hey keep doing you and honestly they wouldn't laugh because i got that analogy from a"hip hop" forum. oh and i don't have a problem with people who don't spit complex lyrics i do have a problem when those that aren't dope on the mic try and say they are doper then the dudes that do it better.

  • I am thinking objectively.

I listen to a good number of artists.

Not only that but I CAN rap and know rap/rhyme structure, Multies, in-rhyme, slant rhyme, metaphor, hyperbole and simile.

Not only that but you seem to lack Hip-Hop basics.

Emcee and Rapper these terms are interchangeable. Listen to some KRS man.

    EVEN HE SAYS IT.

I have yet to say Mos can't rap, or that Jay-z is the best. Only that he is Highly skilled and it shows in his music. Also I said RESPECTABLE forum. lol.

  • dude i spit in countless cyphas. im a nerd who has been spittin since 88" i may not be the dopest but i can hold my own when it comes to rhymin. i know all the basics and i know all the advanced shit. i can go from one sylable rhymes to multi's to rhyme in rhymes.we just have different opinions when it comes to hip hop. nothing wrong with it you think your right from you perspective and i think im right from mine so we'll just leave it at that..

  • Nothing wrong with that but I don't think Acual definitions or skill is "Opinion".

But if you would like to quit I'll stop.

  • oh no skill isn't opinion but it's kind of obvious you don't think mos's word play or above average lyrical skill compares to jay's for some reason. so for whatever reason that is hey thats up to you. different strokes i guess.

  • lmao. I never said nor implied that.

Mos Def is in my top ten along with Jay-z.

  • well either way there is a total difference in skill level and i honestly like both. also any hip hop head will tell you the difference between emcee and rapper. i mean you can immediately tell the difference between like say "the last emperor" and like "young jeezy". once again. martial artist/street fighter(analogy).

  • that was the whole point of my argument. the casual hip hop fan won't see the difference.

  • one more thing you listen to certain artist because they bring different things to the table. honestly no one listens to jay because he's the best lyricist. he's nice i like him but no way he's a better lyricist than a lot of cats i can name. you listen to him because you like his music. i'll listen to mos because i like what he brings to the table. believe it or not i can at least think objectively and be honest when it comes to lyrics.

  • so if it came down to who sales the most records and who's more appealing to the mainstream casual rap fans then hey hands down jay z tops it all. now when it comes down to dope skill he knows he's not the best...

"If skills sold then truth be told, I'd probably be lyrically Talib Kweli" JAY Z "Moment of Clarity" (from The Black Album)

  • sells*

  • he's not saying that. his entire catalog is to the contrary of that youre takin that out of context to make your point. he's not sayin talibs the best.

hes sayin if skills sold he be on that type of shit. he wants to rhyme like that, but theres no money in that. "i WANNA rhyme like Common Sense."

hes not sayin he cant, and obviously he can, lyrically the majority of his shit is superior to talib. talib just has is conscious gimmick so he gets those brownie points. hes not that nice.

  • WOOOOOOW. wrong wrong wrong. lol...

"If skills sold then truth be told, I'd probably be lyrically Talib Kweli" JAY Z "Moment of Clarity" (from The Black Album)

dude your doing some serious reaching to make something fit. jay knows what sells. skills don't. lyrically talib is dope on the mic. dope enough that jay gave him props. if u wanna be a fan thats ok but just realize there are dudes nicer then your favorite rapper. lol

  • yes i am a jay fan along with blackstar and niggas like nas and even 3k but what your saying is that jay isnt as skilled lyricly as talib? he proved his skills insongs like DP AND D"evils he just knows its not gonna sell....(hints) how many albums has talib and mos sold now combine that and does it equal jay....no. and im not saying selling means your great or even good.

  • bottom line sales don't equate to skills because based on that logic nelly would be one of the dopest lyricist BUT no. now lyrically i could name way more then ONE song that shows mos and talib's lyrical talents. you got one jay song. once again not dissing jay but he's just not built for being an emcee he's built for entertaining people who like that genre of music.

  • jay-z isn't built to be an emcee?

....are you serious. i mean...are you serious?

please go through his tracklisting again. please. please....wow. please

  • i have probably been listening to jay a lil longer than you but i have also been listening to emcees and lyrically he is not that impressive. he's nice but he got destroyed on renegade by em....he got destroyed on the rehab remix by pharoahe..... man if he does a song with a legit emcee he doesn't look so dope i mean put him on the carter next to lil wayne he looks like a genius because jay is nice BUT he's just not an emcee. nice but not an emcee.

  • he really isnt, hes too mainstream, if you put him with anyone in the underground right now, he will get destroyed, he doesnt have the character or the lyrical brutality

  • Fail

  • what are you talkin about? jay-z would get owned by eminem in a rap battle, you fail lmao

  • gmen...thats exactly what ur saying, that record sales equal skillz with the comment combine talib and mos albums and does it equal how much jay sold!!! mosdef and talib have made a lot more tracks that are better than jay..after reasonable doubt sayz albums got worse, mosdef and talib always bring classics. monch, krs1 , big l , big pun, rakim, nas, andre 3000..all these rappers didnt sell as much as jayz but there all lyrically better than jay. and jayz got skillz, but theres better

  • and if lyrically most of his shit is superior to talib then why did he give him props in his own song.

    "hes not that nice."

your entitled to feel anyway you like but your feelings are what they are. feelings

    facts are facts.

  • bottom line lyrcally talib > jay mos > jay. sorry to tell you but lyrically there are a bunch of cats better. just like i know there are other cats better than talib and mos. just remember fame and sales don't translate to skills. if that was the case then mc hammer would be the greatest or vanilla ice because they sold mad records.

  • that's the thing all your analogies do is show your odd bias against a guy selling. I didn't know selling good meant you sucked.

    Unlike you, I don't have a bias.

I never said he was the best or that people couldn't beat him lyrically. I'm just letting you know Jay-z is in fact a skilled rapper.

"I wanna rhyme like Common Sense(but I did five mill) And I haven't rhymin like Common since".

Not only that but people are drawing comparisons with Wayne. Jay-z and Wayne are not in the same league.

  • thanks I didn't have to say it.

  • nastynew u dumb im sorry but talib is nicer than jayz , lyrically better....this goes against everything u just said

"They call me the political rapper

Even after I tell 'em I don't fuck with politics

    I don't even follow it

I'm on some KRS, Ice Cube, Chris Wallace shit

Main Source, De La Soul, bumpin' "2Pacalypse Now"

Yo, I speak at schools a lot cause they say I'm intelligent

No, it's cause I'm dope, if I was wack I'd be irrelevant

I'm like the dope in your tracks until your high is settled in

  • probably the best track on that entire album. Good lookin

  • my doctor friend uses medical terminologies for metaphors and similes ALL the time when he raps! BUT WHAT THE FUCK IS HE SAYING??!! i guess he's sayin that he's sick wit it and his beats are ill... but is he getting his point across to his listeners? and if people don't wanna listen to him because of that, it wouldn't be because he's not good at it, just not entertaining! and that my friend is the another problem wit the world, M.D.'S BEING M.C.'S

  • There are hardly ANY rappers that do that.

Even the Mainstreams ones you seem to hate so much.

Pretty much all of them have rhyme structure, even Little Wayne with his OVER use of metaphors.

Soulja Boys rhymes are simplistic usually just 2 rhymes a bar.

And you can't Knock Jay-z or Kanye West.

Both main stream artists that are VERY capable on the mic.

You need to get some knowledge before you start dropping it.

  • LMFAO @ "there are hardly any rappers that do that"

that shows you how much knowledge you have. there are plenty of rappers that have that but i guess you don't know half as much as you think you know.

  • You forgot Common and Black Thought. There are a lot of other rappers too.

  • Stop fucking talking about hip-hop, you're embarrassing.

  • mos def is WACK

  • If J is not skill

Then 99% of hip pop artiest are not

  • Thats whats wrong with rap its pop music when was the last time you heard a rapper come to the radio station and freestyle. The new ones cant

  • mos def is perhaps the greatest rapper out there but i would luv to see himm battle cannibus or immortal technique or maybe lupe fiasco

  • Hmm I don't know about Main stream rappers.

But a lot of out of the spotlight rappers get on the the radio and spit freestyles.

For Exp. look up "Eyedea & Slug Wake Up Show".

You can find a lot of those recorded radio freestyles if you look for them.

  • thanks... im gonna check them out...

  • your welcome!

  • I like weezy... but my message is clear, if it boils down to Mos Def and Lil Wayne, I'm with Mos all day. I hope they DO have a battle, in fact, I hope all these new rappers come to it and get sliced up by Mos. That includes soulja boy, 50 cent, all these whack cats.

  • jay all day lil wayne out first round in freestyle cause canot be jay or mos off the top of head

  • i respect mos def for saying rappers need to battle on pay per view, i would pay for that. But with that being said Jay-z would murder everyone

  • Mos def...enuff said

  • Lets be real mos def is sick!!!!! sicker then lil wayne but ppl dont respect skill anymore today u got to have skill but be with in the most current trend like auto tune , raping slow riding beat, saying hella corny punch lines that everybody understands, beats that sound a like and wayne does that so the kids would pick him to win in a battle but i wouldnt lol

  • Why Is Mos crazy for callin them out?.. it be crazy if he called out Eminem , immortal technique , or Royce... but jay-z and lil wayne...come on man...jay-z probably cant do a battle/freestyle.. and weezy cant do it with out Curren$y or Cory Gunz writing for him lolz

  • jay and weezy arent the best but mos is crazy for callin them out

  • MOS DEF GOT BALLS!!! LOL

  • Seems like both are trying to one-up one another. Into who is more talented it looks like.

  • to be honest i think mos def will beat lil wayne in a rap battle, lil wayne is all about ringtone status not rapping about how much money he makes or getting head from somone. so that is why i think mos def will win

  • mos def likes fish sticks...

  • mos def wont beat lil wayne in who sells more albums, thats cause about 90% percent of the people who listen to rap dont understand and cant get on mos level..niggas just aint ready for shit like that.ppl want to hear lolli pop and bullshit like that.but lyrically and just a straight up battle of the top of there heads..mos will deff eat them up..NO DOUBT!!

  • jay and mos would be interesting... mos would smash lil wayne on the mic any day

  • jay would destroy Mos.

  • LOL Jay is a very very good artist and lyricist.. he knows the game.. thus he is a very good commercial artist.. However Jay is about punch lines and shit like that... mos def is on a more sophisticated level... he looks weak but mos def's brain can access some very complicated rhymes in a short amount of time, i have seen people including Kanye destroyed by Mos def.. trust me Jay won't win against mos def..

  • yes i agree that Mos is a extreamly quick thinking lyracist and i am a big fan of blackstar. i have seen the vid where he beats kanye, and now i have watched a few more Mos vids i see that he is a great freestyler. weezy should not even be in the convo as he is a sack of shit! lol but lets just say it would be a great battle

  • this nigga should stick to acting. he is a lyrical genius but i hasnt translated to success. Jay-z and wayne could buy mos def and honestly he aint fucking with jay on the mic

  • took the words out of my mouth

  • it's okay to be a jay z fan but lets be real.... MOS is a genius with the mic. all glitz and glamor and the overused word "swag" aside mos is that dude on the mic.

  • being the man isnt always determined by talking deep on every song there is a such the as irrelevent deep shit. mos is a great rapper but jay is on another level. but he's like the tracy mcgrady of rap if talent doesnt translate to wins what are you really doing.

  • i don't think it's a matter of being deep it's a matter of being dope on the mic. if your a fan of someone thats all nice and all but skill is skill and sales don't mean anyone is more skillful than anyone else. just means that there are a bunch of people that like that style. sort of how there are tons of people that like soulja boy. mos isn't even my favorite rapper but when it comes to lyrics mos can son plenty of these "rappers".

  • Oh my god y is there always a rapper that wants to beef... I ve lost some respect for Mos Def cuz he is so fuqin raw but he aint have to do this

  • I don't think mos is being serious in this video.

Also Truth speaks makes a good point.

  • Mos def is a good rapper do.

I wonder if he had one to many drinks that night.

It dote seem like his style to lash out on rapper just like that.

  • listen, MOS WASN'T DRINKIN THAT NIGHT, HE WASN'T HIGH EITHER. he's been talking about this battle for sometime way before i even recorded this, but i never have my camera out when he talks about it and he usually names a the teams that he wants to have involved to go up against each other. this time i went to my ride to record it but because other people were around we couldnt remember the teams he usually names.. i could only remember jay and wayne at the time. off camera he goes harder on them

  • My guess is he will catch Wayne attention but would need to do more to get jays attention.

    Good luck.

I think he is a better Battler than a raper..

  • What the fuck sport you think this is man? That's what hip hop is, that's how it started, cats beefin on who's the best. As long as brothas keep it lyrics its all to the gravy wavy, you feel? Plus dude asked him the question, Mos didn't even bring the shit up.

  • Not even a discussion. Jay and Mos are already set in stone as two of the best lyrycist. Jay will probably go down as the better business man and weez is the up and comer. Mos has nothing to prove but from the dome it would be interesting between him and Jay.

  • Fuck Yeah MOS DEF would distroy Jay and Wayne any day lyrically.

  • I can dig the challenge...but is it me or does Mos sound TOASTED?!?!?! LOL!!

  • Yo Mos:

May Allah guide you akhi. You setting a bad example for the youngsters in the community.

    Salams nigga

  • listen up people that clown on the video that "dont understand" its simple...MOS DEF kills them bitches, he got his own swag, not that gay shit!! mos will kill ALL them dudes & if you don't understand what mos def or ole' girl was saying....please...GO BACK TO SCHOOL!!! this is why the american education system is at its lowest ever!

weezy FAG baby, vegan3000, & jay z will get lynched by mos def....PERIOD!!!!

put this shit on pay per view, somebody call don king!!!! MOS DEF KILLS EM ALL!!!

  • LMFAO What next Big pun can't rap.

Ready to die sucked and Eminem has the best flow in the industry ?

    GTFO with that.

Jay-Z is nice, Wayne was good but then slacked off with the Carter 3, Andre3000 is nice check out Atliens or Aquemini.

At least know what you're talking about before you diss these guys.

  • i'm from a state where niggas and hillbillies reside... it's hard to hear me say "if u go out to canton (a city far away from detroit) and ask them, they wouldn't know what ur talking about"... we go back and forth about art, politics, social consciousness, etc. all the time... this isn't the only video where we're all yappin about shit... just the funniest! and actually if the ppv ever happens it will be me and a few other friends of ours making it happen... we dont need don king... -real talk

  • Oh cool.

I wasn't commenting on the video with the comment you replied to.

That guy just sounded dumb so I replied to him.

I can see you guys are just hanging out and Joking.

O_O Your so lucky! I wish I knew mos def!

I'd ask him to shoot me a couple rap tips.

  • why dnt you mention fabolous mafuka or cassidy mos def-inately will thrash dis nigga

  • he mentioned fabolous a few days before but i couldn't remember everyone he named that should be in the battle. in the video i was trying to remember the whole list of people he had named off before... nas was one of them t
