this is so AWESOME!!!! takes me back to my sophomore year in HS... learned both guitar and bass parts to this album... if I'd had a drum kit I would've headbanged my way thru to learn that part too... srs '84...☺ mc ♪♫
I thought I may have to settle for a 240P version, which is like shitting on a work of art. People need to realize what a waste putting up great songs with low quality is.
You don't need to be an audiophile to hear the difference between 240P and 480P. Any decent headphones and its obvious. I don't consider my self a sound elitist, but I do focus intensely on certain types of music like Rush.
I play guitar so I listen for things closely, especially if I am trying to learn it. It is easier to figure out if you can hear it clearly.
I also own several pairs of headphones, so maybe you are right. I'm okay with that.
One of my all-time favorite Rush songs! Wife and I are going to see Rush in Nashville tonight, I hope they play this, it would make an excellent show-ender!
Perhaps the reason this piece gets more recognition is because it was done so much better.Jazz line, my ass. If the 'genius' who composed the original lines was that accomplished, I'm sure he would have gotten the recognition.
I think youll find Raymond Scott has plenty of recognition. Some of the biggest names in electronic/ambient music cite him as an influence and one of the grandfathers of their styles.
I've heard people say Rush sold out. If you want to change, and expand, and try different sounds, even more generally accessible sounds, why is that selling out? Who the hell wants to keep playing the same thing all the time? I think that's selling out. Peace!
Rush was always one of the best instrumental bands, melodically appealing yet technically alluring, they knew when to keep it simple and when to show boat . They do both so tastefully
@aknvenom From wikipedia: [The song includes an adaptation of Raymond Scott's popular composition "Powerhouse".Though Scott's publishers did not attempt to take legal action until the statute of limitations had run out, Rush's management, feeling it was the right thing to do, gave some monetary compensation to Mr. and Mrs. Scott.]
It's about time this was on Youtube. I actually had to buy the album on iTunes to hear the song and spend an hour on forums to learn the Lerxst was Alex Lifeson's nickname.
im playing this on bass on my black rickenbacker right now as we speak!!!! :) wish me luck rush fans im a lil nervous

@Juggernaut76 Audiophiles need to realize that the average person will not notice a difference unless they activily investigate for one.

@deddog, they did use that song in La Villa. It was real, and if you don't believe it look it up.
