Moms in America have a pretty high tendency to be obese, and so do their children. Japan's obesity rate is what, 3.4%? America's is about ten times that. Aside from obvious food differences, maybe American moms (and Americans in general) can take a page from these Japanese women.
look at all those cute mommies on their bikes! oh my gosh can you imagine the american soccer moms picking their kids up from school on a mamachari instead of their big gas guzzling suv's? They wouldn't last ten minutes! the thought is just too funny.
Thats why i like these videos. There is always something interesting and cool in them. For example, watching the bikes i asked my self "When was the last time i rode a bike? I gonna go get one now"
Hello follarband, Thank you for viewing and commenting. I think that I can answer your question. Most Japanese women take great care to protect their skin from the sun and this is likely the reason for the hats. Women drivers will also sometimes wear special covers on their arms to protect the skin from the sun while driving. I hope that this is helpful. Sincerely, -Kurt :-)
In my last trip to japan, i saw hundreds of girls riding bikes at 6:30 pm all of them with withe helmets and uniforms, does anybody knows what are they doing at that time riding bycicles everyday?? thanks for your answers.
Great video. makes me want to go riding on my bike but its to cold out now. I'll try and post some of the Asian festivals I attend here in the states. I went to the Buddha's birth festival last summer but taped over it so I can't post that.
Hello kapalama, Thanks for your suggestion. I have added your suggested keyword as well as some variations. Great idea and thanks for watching and commenting! -Kurt :-)
Hello, Yumiko and Emily are not in this video as I was visiting the shrine by myself that day. Emily is in elementary school now though when she was in kindergarten I remember seeing this type of scene often at the end of school functions and events. Thanks for writing! -Kurt :-)
Hello muffles12, By using the word parade I was simply referring to the parade-like stream of bikes passing by. Not an actual parade. Sorry for any confusion. The people in the video are mostly saying things like goodbye, be careful and the like. Though one man can be heard at the start yelling loudly to be watch out for some danger. Thanks for watching and commnenting! -Kurt :-)
*giggles* Nice trick at the end! It was interesting to see so many bikes- and so many white hats, curiously. All the kids were of course quite young, I wonder if it was the shrine, or the time of day, or what. Thanks for posting! ~Kat
Hello Kat, Thanks for watching and commenting. This video was indeed shot at Gokoku Jinja which is one of the largest Shinto shrines in Shizuoka. The shrine was hosting a kindergarten event that day and I just happened to be there as the moms and kids were heading home in the early afternoon. Thanks again! -Kurt :-)
do men ride these as well??

I love this video. <3
Mums are usually very strong just from carrying their kids around. This must make them that much stronger. <3

run around 60psi in your ride, makes for less rolling resistance
