In 1959 Dr Edgerton performed reconstructive surgery on my cleft palet. There was fear that my mouth would not grow and I would have to live with a severe speech impedement. My mom always joked, "they were wrong, it grew and grew and grew, hah! Of course, this was after many post op visits and years of speech therapy and milkshakes at the soda shop across from the hospital with my father.
