To be clear my opinion below may well be wrong about who both the men are. But I have not been without access to first hand impressions of people as I have many friends in the film industry and even went to college with a guy who is a star on top 5 TV show. IMHO both men are tremendous Actors, I like Brando more as a person because unlike Sean Penn He really gave away and did not care much for the whole fame trip or creating this need for deference around him. Ask yourself. Why does Sean Penn embrace Fidel Castro? He's a dictator who has either murdered or jailed those who didn't adhere to his political ideology, and controls the state media in an effort constrain cubans abilities to think, speak and act in a manner they deem right. I love Sean Penn, but Mickey Rourke does seem to be from the Brando and Dean school. Even in junk like Out in Fifty, Rourke can be mesmerizing. Like Penn, he may not have as much range as Johnny Depp, but the guy is eternally interesting. The only actor that could have pulled of a Brando biopic would have been Mickey Rourke, but he ruined his looks boxing/druggig/plastic surgery, ect...

I love Sean Penn, but Mickey Rourke does seem to be from the Brando and Dean school. Even in junk like Out in Fifty, Rourke can be mesmerizing. Like Penn, he may not have as much range as Johnny Depp, but the guy is eternally interesting. He was on a pretty good roll in the 80s, but his best post-Angel Heart role might be Bullet, with Adrien Brody and Tupac.

Fast times, state of grace, Falcon & the snowman, at close range, carlitos way, dead man walking, mystic river, i am sam, sweet & lowdown prove it. I like that he talks about Brando, & his art in interviews,however his political views do not determine mine. I prefer to seek out people who, maybe, know about these things.Why get worked up about an actor who wants to share his political views? If you don't like it, move on...ok?
