The USA's HDI was .961, and West Germany was .967.

The false dichotomy of collectivism/individualism, communism/capitalism, is a red herring to prevent people from questioning coercion, which all of these ideologies advocate, and which no person appreciates. I can't believe that so much of the world falls for such a simple trick.
This is a common technique in marketing: you make your product available in many permutations, so that the consumer gets embroiled in choosing the right one, instead of choosing to buy or not.

What Jesus began was was not 'socialism' or 'communism', it was the development of the church 'body'. He cultivated the behavior that the church would carry on, with members taking care of each other. This was in no way a political agenda with a governmental purpose. What Christ began was meant for people who become part of the church body. It was never meant to be forced onto everyone against their will.. And that is precisely what communism doesn't mind doing..

@sicstyl how could jesus' actions be construed as apolitical... developing an alternative church community to the dominant cultural-religious majorities that threatened the nascent christian faith was an act of revolutionary resistance. similarly, communists and socialists were responsible for resisting the cultural-religious imperialism of colonial powers and the christian indoctrination they used on subjugated native populations. it's ironic that in the end your beliefs are as they are.

Christ's message had nothing to do with a political agenda. At all.
