rofl, let me ask you about the soldier that died recently. 3 Tours in Afghanistan as an infantry soldier, came home, left the military, became a cop, and was shot during a routine traffic stop. Seems to me like he had better chances while in service.
i love and support the army and woman and men who are in it...its just the government i hate..they make wars and send our kids to fight it..the real terrorists are the USA government
This a decent approximation of feeling the kinetic energy of a bullet in small caliber. I'd think 9mm would be a little more higher but hey, you may never hear the bullet that kills you. Also, for any aholes that respond that this makes the present danger non existent you can still nick a major artery on the peripheral of your body so yeah. you';d still practice hitting the deck in a firefight I;m sure
the kevlar itself is very thin on the vest and you can feel it if someone punches you. a sledgehammer hitting you without the plates would fuck you up.
I admit that was wrong but compared to what does bastered NVA wanted to do to us it is small in comparison, that Vietnam veteran did his duty and had a dam good right to talk but that does not mean i agree, after collage i hope to join one of the military branches and however sick that may be just take a look at the twin towers and tell me how they compare God bless the troops
i personally am joinig because i want to defend the constitution and all whom it protects and if that means killing someone or putting my life up for someone then so be it.
There is no obvious quality to their joining. They could have joined pre-war not expecting to be sent to some forsaken dessert. There have been soldiers that have been recycled through the system numerous times do to lack of new recruites.
Also, not everyone who joins the military expects to see combat. Many of them are lured into service with promises of non-combat posts only to be put on the front line after signing them selves into service.

They aren't necessarily tricked...there are ALOT of douchebags who join to get Money for school and stuff and then they don't actually want to do anything and they hate the military. That is THE LAST person you want by your side in a war. Dont fucking pity them, Its the military , there fact is it is made to fight wars, which means THERE IS A CHANCE so dont fucking join if you don't want to fight or be in the military just cuz ur some college bitch who wants free money.
how the hell are they fighting for our freedom. I'm not trying to condone what movie man said, but that was the most ridiculous statement I've ever heard
This war is not for your freedom But we do fight for your freedom.. if we did not fight the cold war russia would have taken over america... you would not have your freedom. Just because the current is more based on the Iraqi's freedom doesnt mean we dont fight for yours too.
How do you know they enlisted to fight for the freedom of America? Have you met these people? Maybe they enlisted to get money for college, maybe they enlisted for the housing benefits, maybe they where tricked to sign the dotted line by a really good recruiter, maybe they joined because it is a family tradition to serve in the native arm forces, maybe they realized their life wasn't going anywhere and wanted to peruse a job that had advancement opportunities w/o the requirement of higher learning.
Define high learning...I gurantee you anyone in the Marine corps is more of a Man and has more of an ability to make it on their own than some immature college kid with booksmarts. Booksmarts and real world learning and skills are two very different things. The leadership training alone you get in the military is more beneficial than any fucking book you will read for a test after getting wasted in college.
Response to sidescrollin: Ha! you obviously don't know much about history or the results of war. Sure you can gain "invaluable" leadership skills, but then what? What if you loose a limb? No cooperation is going to have pity on a handicapped just 'cause he/she was in the military. Also corporations don't give a fling fuck how much of a man some one is they hire on education and proven knowledge, meaning college.
See there is a major difference in the majority of kids who go to college and those who are in the military. Of course there are the little dbags who join the military for college money but I don't mean them. When you go to college you are training to work for someone, you are setting your career to work for someone. Every person I know that was in the USMC either jointly or fully owns a business. This comes from knowing how to be a leader and not a lazy follow like college grads
ok so enlisted people can go to OCS after they have DONE some time. college graduates on the other hand can to go OCS immediately, provided their application has been accepted. so what does that say about the military institution's attitude in regard to college graduates? they have a better predisposition for "leadership" (whatever that means, because being a "leader" is really being the first follower, not everyone can be a leader in the pyramid hierarchy of military organizational structure
wtf does "done some time" mean?? D.i.s select specific recruits that they see leadership in. After Recruit training they report to OCS. unlike recruit training you can quit OCS because if you have any reason to want to quit they dont want you to be a officer.
@c03rcion Obviously you have never been in the US military. "not everyone can be a leader ....." All the way down to the Squad level soldiers are given the opportunity to complete missions using THEIR best judgment (and leadership). The squad leader is given a task and a time line, and HOW he accomplishes that task is up to him. In my unit over 70% of the enlisted had college degrees. The officers did paperwork while we performed the missions. (I myself have a BS and MS)
Lol! come back when you actually know what you are talking about. Officers aren't required to have a college degree or even college credit. You don't need to have a piece of paper saying you studied journalism or something to be a good leader. Why don't you just leave now, you have showed enough stupidty already.
one more thing sparky, your nonsense talk is really a disservice to professionals who have come before you. like anyone else, a marine will whimper like a baby when his squad is out gunned and out numbered before a pilot (who studied "booksmart" topics like physics) saves his life by dropping bombs. dont forget that your just a very small p component of the overall picture.
Marines don't whimper when shot at, that is the point in all the training they go through. You are a egotistical idiot. Obviously there is no point in bothering arguing with you because you think you are better than everyone. It's not difficult to get a college degree it is just time and money, stop being such a smug jackass and get over yourself.
i never said i was better because i am almost done with college--i have seen plenty of incompetent people who should not have a degree. look i dont wanna fight with you, but some of your comments were just wrong. for me college has not been a fuckin party (especially since im studying chemistry)--college has been one of the least fun experiences. and yea it is time and money, but you would be surprised how hard it is for some people. only 25% of all college students actually finish with a degree
i once considered the military. then i met a Vietnam veteran, a marine, who talked to my HS about his experiences. he told us of how him and his commrades tried to fling beans with a spoon into a chest wound of a dying NVA soldier (this was very fun for them). this marine dropped out of Duke to enlist. i will forever remember his words at the end of his presentation "for those who consider the military, my only recommendation is getting the most liberal education you can get, and then decide"
nice, let one represent all. If I did that, everyone who attends college would be an asshole in my eyes. However I am not as close minded and ignorant as you are.
You know why they did that, because NVA soldiers would take dead or wounded marines, put booty traps in them, and then when an american medic would walk by, and check the marine out, the booby trap would go off, killing or injuring the medic, or anyone else near, the nva deserved that. Another reason why they laughed was because NVA took the scrotum's(AKA nut sack), cut it off and place it in the mouths of dead soldiers, then carve a hole in there head and put a live gernade for a medic to find
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
they did it because they were fucking kids and they didn't know any better. yea thats right, the vast majority of people sent to wars are fucking kids, pimply faced 18 and 19 year old marines and soldiers who are lured by lucrative incentives who would otherwise be at home masturbating.this shit about duty and glory and your flag is bullshit, the reality of war is kids with guns killing other kids. Look at the word INFANTRY, it is very similar to INFANT! Interesting eh?
@c03rcion You're an idiot. First of all 18 and 19 year olds aren't kids. they are adults. I went in at 22 and stayed until 38. So it is not just "kids" fighting for our country.
Everyone should be highly educated before making a decision such as joining the military. However, the story about his horrible actions with the NVA soldier do not reflect the military, nor its ethics.
putting on a uniform or countless hours of training still wont change the person within. we have plenty of sickos who are college grads.. chances are there are a few that enjoy playing with little kids right in your own neighborhood dont blame the military for bad people doing bad things
@c03rcion I went to an Art Institute school for a year, said fuck that now I'm going to bootcamp the 17th, so I dont know if education gets more liberal and maybe I'll go back but im gonna go fight four my country and learn shit that's gonna help me the rest of my life instead.
@PooleeLC well i can respect your decision, especially since you tired school and figured it wasn't worth it for you. nothing wrong with that. i do not have anything against military service, my 2 brothers are army, one serving in Afghanistan and one a paratrooper. much of what i say or think is really a reflection of my discussions with them about the military. so good luck to you.
Enlistment has nothing to do with balls, there are hundreds of serving citizens who don't have balls. Also, you have absolutely no knowledge of my intellect and know nothing of my morals, ethics or reasoning.
So don't talk about shit you don't know anything about!
Response to ANTHONYxTK4: I have know idea what your argument is or even which part of this long list of text you are responding to, please be more clear in your statements.
God im sick and tired of you ignorant people who think just cause you join the military and go to war your GOING to die.. You could fucking die tomorrow in a car crash. or get stabbed. and have heart failure. Just cause your in the military doe snot mean your gonna die. and id MUCH rather die being known for fighting for my country then die cause of some drunk driver.
me too. too bad u think the only way to prove others that u are not a coward is to join the army. There are so many ways to show others ur own bravery. u dont even know
@Brazilianjj Joining the military doesn't mean you're gonna die. It just means you have a much bigger chance of dying and some people enjoy their comfortable lives too much to take that chance.
@Brazilianjj fear is natural, and completely human - it's what kept us alive for thousands of years.
Unless you can control it, you shouldn't enlist - so I prefer them bitching about enlisting than actually enlist and then let their comrades down in combat.
Also, the only bad things about enlisting are: low pay compared with higher education; and you are suppposed to defend your country's interests, which you might disagree with.
@Brazilianjj LOL. Dumbass. Military personaals in combat have 85% chance of dieing than a normal citizen would. And a a 90% chance of getting wounded.
@TheNewStoryLine your a fucking idiot lets think of number of people that died in the middle east in total which is the 5 thousands and 40,000 die a year in the US from car crashes. THATS ONE THING its much safer statistically being in the military.
you should atleast be grateful that hes getting armour. You tanks take all your equipment for granted, us grunts in the Canadian army dont even get level 3 armour, we get a flak vest with two plates one each side, and we dont even get shot there. its mostly roadside bombs that kill troops in Afghanistan/Iraq
well the gov should at least give it to are special forces and the marines thats not lot. shit if i was the goverment i would recall all plate armor sell it and buy the dragon skin its cheaper then paying a dead soldier family 50 grand dont you agree
kevlar? it is a low way of putting in need in the streets setting with full armor + EOD proof you wouldn't even moved when they hitted you with that hammer
=P level IV-A is the best out there and in stock by the way "dragonskin" well not sure about that but too be sure the sound is great and pretty simple too make it yourself it is no secret cicle shape creamic ? but i think it was too close there for the other disk would have messed up but still say that D.SKIN is the best but i count on lvl.4
no it is not that would be kevlar the dragon was rejected by the us army even though it has never been penitrated by any progectils in any tests cough cough retards my family members are over there in iraq and they are going to reject something thats 500 times better than kevlar dumbasses
Isnt this dangerous? By the time you guys get into the field, the armor is already compromised? Kinda like using bicycle helmet thats already been dropped?
no its not dangerous we dont have to worry about the armor being comprimised we get new plates before we deploy those are just for field purpose only...just to get used to the weight ya know
only the Army would try something like this

@Brazilianjj damn right!

@Brazilianjj i agree, i think you have the same amout of chance of diying in war, as if you get runned over by a bus.

Isnt this dangerous? By the time you guys get into the field, the armor is already compromised? Kinda like using bicycle helmet thats already been dropped?
juki009 4 years ago
no its not dangerous we dont have to worry about the armor being comprimised we get new plates before we deploy those are just for field purpose only...just to get used to the weight ya know
infantryman135 4 years ago
