Does anyone remember in a regular season game before this, when Sanchez threw a fastball at Chase Utley's head? Chase's eyes lit up at the next pitch and he knocked it right out of the ballpark.
Jonathan Sanchez had a fatigued arm at this point of the season. His fastball velocity had suddenly dropped. He pitched really well the last month of the regular season and in the NLDS but had lost it in the NLCS. He would also pitch poorly in his one start in the World Series. He was the Giants only weak link. His arm troubles continued into the 2011 season and he went on the DL because of it.
Jeremy Affeldt, who was warming up in the bullpen, later claimed this was done to give him more time to get ready. He said that he was told by the bullpen coach, Mark Gardner, to keep throwing. I don't know if its true but I'm just mentioning it. The Giants bullpen was amazing that night. I think most people thought the Giants were going to lose for sure. But the arms were rested.
The problems between these two can be traced back to the previous season when Sanchez plunked Utley in a regular season game. Utley then hit a home run off Sanchez in the next at bat. Sanchez is know to be wild with his command.
As a Giants fan, I can say that Sanchez can be a douche. He's not a bad guy or anything, but he is arrogant. He has an inferiority issue. Utley is a high intensity player and goes all out when playing. Theres not much between these two as far as I'm aware of.
Utley has better things to do than beat up a bitch like Sanchez...like get ready for the playoffs--something San Francisco wouldn't know anything about this year, haha.

They already have the arms, they just need to jettison some of the old bats, get back some of their better players (Posey, Freddy Sanchez), make a couple moves and they will be right back in the thick of things.
