Im fluent in spanish and im trying to learn Italian. Such a beautiful culture i love it :)

  • "I already told you that"- lol!!! Sounds just like myy family!!! :)

  • Makes me miss my full blooded sicilian grandma even more now. :( I wish she taught me the language...Very cute video!

  • love italian ppl and their language

  • When people had honor...

  • this is south italy dialect and not really good spoken. very very stereotype.

  • I almost cried watching this!! It reminds me SO much of my Sicilian great grandmother! If only I could see her again...

  • The old Sicilian phrases taught us respect for everything.

I want to kiss her on the cheek. She is precious.

  • That old lady is terrifying.

  • I'm italian, this one is like an evolved dialect, the one you speak in america lacks of a correct written form and the pronounce and some words are a bit distorted because basically everything comes from old memories...but it's still understandable even for italian people that are not from Sicily, Campania or south italy in general. Cool! (sorry for my bad english)

  • Frequenta quelli migliori di te e paga loro le spese. Goood!

  • Mom, has a fantastic memory.....these expressions have their moral, story, rhym and rythm when said. The Italians are a proud people and I fell in love with the culture and it's history. My mom when I was a kid would tell me the one about not hanging around with the bad apples. We even have that one in Cuba too "Mejor estar solo que mal acompanado." Thanks again I wrote most of these down! I'll try and learn them.

  • You forgot to write the one about if you don't take after your mom or dad hang them. wow...words of wisdom there. Basically like they didn't bring you up right or something like that...eh? This is Napolitano? correct? I know the word chiu is like no or not.

  • Bravo! Grazie mila for sharing. I'm Cuban and I was in the US Navy stationed in Naples 88-90, Then in Brindisi for 7 months in 94. I collected proverbs from a lot of the conscript soldiers I worked with. Some in dialect Sicilian, Napolitan etc... I can't write Italian very well but I remember phonetically.... Il Pesce Groso si Manga lo Piciorilo and La Gallina Vechia fa boun brodo! How did I do?

  • Wow....I hear/heard these sayings from my Mom, Dad and the rest of the family.

I'm first generation American, everyone else is right from Sicily.

  • @themanroom126 Yeah, I remember my Grandfather using these phrases too, but never quite understood them until I saw the Documentary 'Nine Good Teeth'. It's available on Netflix if you like documentaries.

  • these two ladies are the best
