It's "Ave Maria" ("アヴェ・マリア")as re-imagined by Shang Shang Typhoon. Good luck finding this on mp3 or on CD - when I was in Japan 5 years ago, I managed to track down a copy of a compilation CD that had this track. Ultimately, I decided that $35US wasn't worth it for a single piece of music.

that scene tells symbolically a difficult moment the poet lives in the movie later. it's a lot easier to understand after seeing the whole movie.

the movie is not really complicated. It tells the life of a well known japanese poet (and writer); mix with dream and nightmare (reminding his stories)

His struggling in teaching, his fights with his cold father, his sister, politics and so on and how he wants to change and improve life.

It's a beautiful movie for dreamers.

Love Hina was Bandai, now Funimation, Fruits Basket is Funimation and FLCL is Synch Point, the manga may be tokyopop (don't know) but the anime you mentioned are not. I hate Shoji Kawamori's politics, but this film does look interesting to me, it's using symbolism a lot, so you have to decipher it a bit. Have you seen the movie or not (note I have not so of course I may dislike it too) FLCL is pretty symbolic and crazy (I love furi kuri) this is a different kind of visual poetry, I guess.
