Its funny cause everything you said is what I have been thinking. Ever since I sat down and the guy handed me the larivee and I played one chord I just fell in love with it ! I haven't stopped thinking about it. I have a Simon and Patrick and have been very happy with it for a good 3 years but like I said that larivee has been on my mind and now I'm convinced and I'm going to buy it tomorrow. Oh and when you said that you love it because your playing has improved because you wanna play it more
I have a D-02E (fishman pickup) that I got wholesale about 10 years ago for about $450. Looks about the same but just a tiny bit less fancy. I absolutely love it!
Happened to be in Vancouver. Spent all week looking at guitars...layed away 2 different Martins...(I have a 67 0-18 amazing guitar), but when I picked up the Larrivee...i took that puppy home...what a steal!!!
this guitar is beyond belief...I paid $1230 Canadian. that includes a professional case and 12% tax. Well worth every penny. Best made guitar vs. Martin/Taylor.
I have a 1998 d-03 . Great guitar ! I also have an old Tacoma DM-10 e with an L.R. Baggs pickup . A Washburn Quilted maple jumbo , Alvarez AD-60 , Seagull , Blueridge, Washbur Wd32 , Epiphone hummingbird, and several other cheapies . I find the Larrivee has the tone but I get in different moods and pick up whatever feels right at the time . Larrivee builds heirloom quality and won't accept less. You can pass them on to your kids .
I have a '99 D-03, when I brought it home I could not put it down, was almost late for work a few days that first week, it's just great, do yourself justice and try one if you are in the market for a decent acoustic...10 years later and I'm still in love with it...
@Warwind Wow, that is a blessing to be able to learn on such a great guitar! I have a feeling you won't get rid of it ever. Which pick up is on yours? I got a K&K after market pick up put in and couldnt be happier!
@jecutube Hey mate, i actually bought this at a local guitar shop in State College, PA. Right around PennState University. But, I think that guitar center and sam ash both carry Larrivee. You'll have to double check though, go try one out!
@crazycool1128 Agreed, and agreed! So amazing. Also I find the dread to be a great all around guitar, it excels in basically every area and style of music
@sowafication awesome! Without a doubt man, these guitars just bring out the best in music, makes you want to play more and discover more. Its a great cycle.
I have been GASin for a new guitar like maybe a 00 or parlor larrivee.. or even a rosweood dread or somethin.
Been going to numerous guitar stores lately. Playing every guitar I coould get my hands on. The best of the best martins, taylors, breedloves, some collings even..
All I wanted to do was go home and play my baby after that. Then when I do it makes me not want another guitar at all...
Convinced me to buy a D-03. Thanks.

Excellent review, just a question if you don't mind me asking, where did you find this for $750?
