It is true the South was trying to protect states rights, but does that mean it is okay to consider other people property? Slaves were considered property, and were treated as such. The Confederate States left the Union for the "official" reason that the new Republican dominated government would get rid of slavery, which infringed on their rights of life, liberty, and property. So should we have left the CSA alone? Should we have allowed slavery?

@HillSavage72 That's the thing though: They wouldn't give up their slaves. Slave labor meant cheap and efficient means of growing cash crops like cotton and tobacco. The South at the time of the Civil War was the #1 producer of cotton. You can't simply buy the slaves like you suggested.

Actually, what Lincoln did was he started the war on the grounds of preserving the Union. When they realized that slave labor was fueling the Southern war machine, they turned it into a war on slavery. Also, the Union was industrially self-sufficient. The Deep South only grew cotton.

It is true the South was trying to protect states rights, but does that mean it is okay to consider other people property? Slaves were considered property, and were treated as such. The Confederate States left the Union for the "official" reason that the new Republican dominated government would get rid of slavery, which infringed on their rights of life, liberty, and property. @JellyPeanutTime I know, the Emancipation Proclamation freed only slaves held in Confederate states, the ones that were held in the border states (that stayed with the Union) were still slaves. Actually, what Lincoln did was he started the war on the grounds of preserving the Union. When they realized that slave labor was fueling the Southern war machine, they turned it into a war on slavery. Also, the Union was industrially self-sufficient. The Deep South only grew cotton.

See the thing is people portray the confederates as these cold heartless brutes but really when you examine the facts the rebels were just trying to protect their rights they wer given and plus when a union soldier was wounded the confederates would take him in to get better but if a confederate soldier was wounded and a union soldier walked by either he would leave him there to die or would take him in to get better and then torture him.

As a Norwegian even I have heard of Andersonville and Henry Wirz. While I don't believe front line infantry from the confederacy was any worse or better than the union you find assholes and criminals in all armies and in all ranks. Read some actual history and not just the romantic "Southern Pride" stuff.

How is the south going to rise, if its inhabitants are sitting on their fat asses eating big macs? I would love to see a people revolution in Texas, it would last about 4 or 5 hours and then the U.S. government would simply carpet bomb and drone strike every trailer park, problem solved. If there was a chance of "The South rising again" and overthrowing the government, I am sure ever other nation would lend their military to prevent such an idiotic majority to be such a detriment upon the globe.

I am merely stating that the south cannot, and will, not rise again and that the Confederacy is dead. What use are economic policies that died in the 1860s? If it weren't for innocent lives being lost, I would love to see a confederate revolution, simply because it would mean death to stupid, racist, individuals such as yourself.
