Jeff hums for about 30 seconds in the middle of the song. I am not complaining, It just proves that no matter what he does during a song, Jeff can still make it sound beautiful.

@s1ygirl I must true honestly say that how many times I hear this song, that I can not keep it dry. It is his voice in combination with the song. It touches you somewhere, a place you shielding for everyone. It makes you realize what is really important, and that is to love yourself, at all times.

And as for Tim...yeah, not sticking by Mary and Jeff was not good...immature, irresponsible, lots of bad things...but to equate that with not having talent? Dumb. Jeff was a little quicker out of the gate, but he took his time before recording, whereas Tim started recording earlier in his process. Both are great, no need to denigrate one for the other.
Tim Buckley was a A-hole for abandoning Jeff and his mother. He got what he deserved in that his son has greatly surpassed him in fame. And no, Tim was not more talented--how can you compare apples and oranges?

In one documentary he says that music grabbed him at an early age. He says that he got that from his mother and from his father. Though his father wasn't there, Tim's manager would send his albums to Mary and Jeff would have soaked that up-all he had of his dad was the music.

Tim was an extremely creative artist--he gave that to his son.

@cbhitman1 He was so wide-ranging in his selection--from torch songs by Nina Simone to classical songs like Corpus Christi Carol to prison blues like Parchman Farm to rock to folk to Pakistani songs--he loved it all. In one documentary he says that music grabbed him at an early age. He says that he got that from his mother and from his father. Though his father wasn't there, Tim's manager would send his albums to Mary and Jeff would have soaked that up-all he had of his dad was the music.

i agree with 24gagey its very sad that jeff buckley passed but the one thing he did was giving his blue print of his artistic emotion driven realism..i play him as much as possible to my friends and family.

I'm glad you people are out there - I'm the only one I know who loves both Jeff and Tim. How can people not see they had the voices of angels? RIP Jeff and Tim - I can't pick a favorite, but Jeff had the most beautiful voice, Tim stretched our imaginations. Both gone too soon.

@Azulabel I agree --it's a kneejerk reaction to dislike Tim Buckley because he left Mary and Jeff without even considering his side of the story---maybe he knew he was messed up and would damage his wife and son by exposing them to his heroin use. Jeff said he did not hate his dad; he said he didn't have a chance to fall in love with him..I'm thinking of reading some of the books about Jeff and Tim and I bought one of Tim's albums. Tim was an extremely creative artist--he gave that to his son.

agreed...that river has such a terrible undercurrent......people don't see the irony, how fitting in a tragic way..that he was found in the water, at the end of Beale St. ..beale street, where jazz and blues was born, where those same legends who buckley studied and looked up to, came from. something terribly tragic and haunting about it all..

@Azulabel totally agree with you-you are not the only one who loves both tim and jeff--I love them so much that I want to share them with my friends who say they love music but seem to me to be a little narrow in their appreciation and I think it would hurt our friendship if they didn't love the music as much as I do; it would make me angry, I think

@McRae2509 Jeff said himself that he didn't need to be remembered when he died. I think it is fitting that Jeff remains out of the mainstream because he admired the artists who were underground and different. Besides Jeff's fans will be loyal forever and Miley's will abandon her when she gets knocked up and shaves her head lol :) Needless to say Jeff is far more talented than little miss Cyrus anyway!! kellar, perhaps you will never be into Jeff Buckley, and I accept that, but, maybe if, like myself, you could find yourself drawn to him after some exposure to his work, I don't know why he has that effect on some people, but I do know that I am not the only one! something about his voice and tone touches me deeply, connects somehow, I suppose he's a SLOW BURN, ye know, he burns deep, either way, PEACE
