Yes i was about 14 she played Baileys in Watford, my relative was on the door so i was allowed to slip in the place and see her set. Wish i had seen Janis Martin too late for that now..
"Litlle miss dynamite" was a joy to watch anytime...Her live performances were spectacular ...I was crazy about her ...When I found out by luck she was staying in the Cumberland hotel in Marble arch (london) during a summer tour of 1962.
I could not resist to meet, chat with her to get her autograph....It made my day..
A day never to forget in my life! ..Any fans know where she is? Does she still do live performances....etc?
this is my fave Brenda song too and its a shame that its not higher up on her listings...i hope young people realise theres much more to her than just "rockin around the christmas tree" although thats a great song too....
Thanks for posting this ... I've been searching for a copy for a long time ... and it's not available in MP3 anywhere ... or on CD, although there's a good karaoke version! Great song!
Man, I'm reliving my good teen years listening to my fave teen idol! What a great voice and a swing-rock track untypical of Nashville, but cool. What a pretty face, and someone who, once I accepted and rejoiced in my native heritage, I realized was also (at least part) N. Am. native, and a wonderful spirit, representative of the kind of beauty, artistry and strength capable of women with native heritage!
@virginian2331 I'm English but we both grew up during an era when there was a great variety of new music and they were extraordinarily good times too. I spent much time in the USA a few years later when I'd married, mainly in N Carolina and I enjoyed it deeply; a wonderful part of the world. We're lucky to have won life's lottery and been born at the right time. I agree, Brenda Lee was very good looking. May you enjoy peace and happiness for the rest of your days.
I had that lonely feeling way back in 1962.Brenda Lee expressed it just right for me.

Brought back happy memories of my childhood. The pre-Beatle era was the best.

This record came out in UK in 1961 I think, just before I did my O levels.
I soon left boys' school after hearing BL's voice
She really had the blues

If you'd like to hear an extremely modernized cover, check out the group "el perro del mar." A Swedish female vocalist project...good!
itolduwnicame08 2 years ago
@itolduwnicame08 It was also recorded by The Cockroaches for the Russell Crowe movie The Crossing in 1990
