  • What rims are you on ??

  • It's a Subaru rim. They were designed as an accessory for the 09 Forester here in Australia. But they had a few in stock so I took them.

  • oooooohhhhhhhh yea. you know this whole time i thought your car was FWD not 4WD. i should know better lol. yea you'll whoop my ass. the best i could get to that is Feathering my hand brake to get my rear end to slide a little farther out around a corner. but your right. I'm always fighting understeer in my FWD around a corner. RWD's want to oversteer. you've got the best of both worlds. Does your bus have Active Stabiltiy management? have you seen the 450HP Rear wheel Yaris? theres only 1

  • Yup I got stability control. I still haven't noticed any major difference when I turn it off though : /

And no I haven't seen the 450hp Yaris. Wow that is amazing :) The owner squeezed every single bit of power from the 1.5litre VVTI engine xD

He must be running some sort of forced induction setup to get that much power from such low displacement. Must have rebuilt the whole engine. Crazy. Props to him :)

  • lol i have an echo too

first gen and in blue. the car i learned manual on

  • Yea Yaris is the New Echo. Street racing will get your ass killed keep it on the track for sure. Yaris has the same engine/tranny/CVJ set up and its reliable as hell. They've been using that combo since the early 90's to some degree.

I've got 154K on mine OG Engine/tranny and it hasn't even hick-up'd *knocks on wood*

If i had to hate on your car. I'd say i don't like the rims. I always liked the classic Blue paint with gold(ish) rims. still nicer then ill have for awhile.

  • Yup I figured the Yaris replaced Echo. They used the quite common "change of naming convention" approach which is widely adopted by the smaller car manufacturers and at times by the larger ones.

But I have to agree that the Yaris must be doing something very well to maintain where it's at. The resale value of this car is amazing, much like the Echo.

But in my case, since I cannot afford 2 new cars, I will get a second hand Yaris :)

  • Yea, We (my chick and I) bought this echo 2nd hand off a dealers back lot. a hell of alot cheaper to go to a brand new car dealership and look in the back lot then it is to goto a used dealer for the same exact car. We paid 4,600$ the car is now worth 5,400$ since gas prices have went up like crazy. Still takes 20$ to fill the tank though and i'll get a good 380/410 miles out of 10 gallons. It's Extremely Nible to. I might be able to out turn you around corners with a good set of tires.

  • Nice. $800 thank you very much :) Not many ppl see that happening to their cars. But I wouldn't put money on the last statement you made :)

  • I dunno man. I've sent many a tailgating SUV's into the grass trying to duplicate my turns.

ok maybe good set of tires bushings and some bielstien struts and i'll out turn you for sure. You'd kick my ass right out of the corner and into the corner. But that damn radius is great. I can make a U-turn on a two lane road white to white line.

  • SUV's... fair enough. Ok lets put it his way. Your chassis is tuned for one thing mine is for another. They are totally different cars built to have different limits. I'm sure you know how to push your Echo to the limit but your chassis and drivetrain setup only allows you to push it so hard... I got 60/40% split torque full time, which allows me to enter a corner extremely aggressively and get away with it because my rwd bias just gives the edge. And I can power my FW without torque steer.

  • i'll race you with my 1.47L toyota echo.

You'll kick my ass all over the road but i'd still try at least.

    Nice car.

yea...lol my car goes 0-60 in 10.3 Seconds. guess the trade off is 43Mpg.

  • Heh I'm not really into street racing though; for obvious reasons. And I really got nothing against echos. I'm planning on getting a 1.3L Toyota Yaris for my everyday driving. They are nice little cars.

  • Beautiful. I just got myself a the same model and color :]

  • Nice :)

  • you licked the car

  • stare stare stare and more stare.....Go drive it!!!!!!!!!

  • Sigh... This video is only to show how the 08 looks. You really think people buy affordable cars just to stare at? If you only you knew me, you would say stop driving it...

  • i don't know you but stop driving it and give it to me

  • Lol. I no longer have this car. Haven't had it for a month now. Looking to get the 09, 05-06STI or CS9 within the next couple of months. I still haven't decided... I'm guessing you're into subies as well, judging by your name?

  • Yes I am into them very much.. still waiting to own my own rather than drive my g/f's 06 also looking into 09's or maybe save some more and wait till 2010

  • I got the blue sedan, but I'm thinking I have a problem with the ECU. It hates life when it's idling or if I use the brakes while in Nuetral. Working with SOA to try and fix it. As soon as it's cleared up, I can install all of the extra crap I bought for it...

  • What did Subaru say? Is yours a 08 or 09? Cause I might order the 09 next month.

  • SOA said the dealership would call when they had another new 08 in stock to see if it does the same thing... Unfortunately since Subaru is not making any more 2008's the chances of that are pretty low. Looks like I'm SOL. I have an Access Port, lowering springs, strut bar, downpipe, and a short shifter, but don't want to risk messing up my warranty (the shop already doesn't like me).

  • Hey, Scoobey how are you likin the 08? I have to update my page I have had the 02 lower since last.

  • They are nice. I've test driven pretty much all WRX's and STI's except the first generation and the 08 is as fast. But because they don't have the sudden turbo boost, it feels they have less torque and power, which is not the case. Just depends on what rocks your boat I guess. 08's just deliver more linear torque and power while the 07 and before delivers more of a punch in the kidney all of a sudden. But you should probably test drive 1 and see the difference for yourself :)

  • I find the stock springs very well engineered (soft on the first half of the travel and hard on the last half). I say that because my car is for everyday use, too, not only for my racing needs ;). If it wouldn't be so, I 'd take sti with no second thought (between us, the big difference between sti and wrx behavior is done by the suspension settings and not so much by the engine - drove one sti on a long distance).

  • I got one, too. Mine is, also, blue ;)

I heard about a suspension kit (COBB Tuning - u can search on youtube for it) which includes stage I (rubbers and bars, without springs) and stage II (with the springs). The springs make the car much more stiffer, but the real effect on the car's steering behavior is caused by the anti sway bars (rear & front). So, i have in mind to buy the stage one kit (without springs).

  • nice car

  • Are those HID's or just very bright bulbs and the sidemarkers...where those added? You guys over-seas always get the good toys.

  • Understeering. That's all I can say about it.

    But nice for fun ;)

  • I think it's smart to record when it is day time, so you can see it......

  • Yup agree and my camera really doesn't help much... It doesn't seem to gather much light.

  • Nicely Done.

  • that car is awesome.. i plan on buying one next year

  • Nice car mate. Beautiful
