I don't like the way they changed this scene to make the old man seem more personable/likable. In the book, he never says the boy was an angel... the father asks if he thought the boy was an angel but he replies with "I don't know." He was much colder in the book.
He was in his 90s already. After they parted, I suppose he just went off to die. Or he was attacked and killed by the gangs, or succumbed to the elements. If he's lucky, maybe he was able to forage for some food like he was doing before they ran into him. He wasn't a cannibal but he was already dying.
Does anyone think that there's a One World Government happening at the time of The Road? But the man and the boy are in the wilderness that's why no one knows about them, and everyone's whereabouts is unknown, and do you think in seven years the Jesus will come and prove that humans are idiots? And the boy is one of the few survivors? To shorten, is this leading to the tribulations?

Amazing transformation, as Duvall is such a clean cut and dapper looking man!
People say the father is a great support and father figure, but there's a very unhealthy decay taking place in his mind, isolating himself from others, a blind spot in his head. You see it here and it gets worse as the film moves on. Totally at odds with the son.
Not a film to watch if you're feeling a bit blue..

I loved the father in it. I just felt so sorry for him, I think he held up great considering but as they say in this scene, the kids his entire universe and he tries so hard just to survive even without any hope....depressed again ha!

just your comment alone proves it, thats ok because the word is finally getting out by the people that actully wasted thier time and money , that this film is crap put out by a small independent studio , the previews probally cost more than the film.
this is a great film, yes its dark and grim and nearly hopeless.. but if the shit really did hit the fan, this is exaclty what the world would be like, and exactly how people would act.. if your looking for mindless thoughtless entertainment that requires no intelligence, i'm sure avatar would satisfy you
