Bynum at 22 is only averaging 10.6 FG attempts to Shaq's 20.2 even though their FG% are not all that different from one another. Plus, Bynum currently has to play 3rd fiddle behind Kobe and Pau on the team while Shaq was pretty much the No. 1 option on his. Oh, and Bynum's shooting close to 74% from the stripe compared to Shaq's 53% AT THE SAME AGE.
Sorry, but I'm taking Bynum here. If not for those freak knee injuries during the '07-'08 and '08-'09 seasons, this would be a moot point.

The potential? Please stop the silly comments. You can tell a great center from the first time you see him, they usually blow you away with several "did you see that!?" moments.
Andrew Bynum, a fine player and he can develop into a top five center for years to come sure, but Shaq? You could tell Shaq was physically dominant from day 1. The same goes with David Robinson, Hakeem, Tim Duncan, all these guys you could tell were freaks.
Even guys like Al Jefferson show more potential than Bynum.

so kobe wasnt that good his first few yrs...at least his stats didnt tell it....the difference is that he alread had great players on his team....eddie jones was an all-star....started ahead of him.....bynum is on a great team...he'd prob the third option now wit gasol and kobe in front of him....but players like lebron melo howard paul wade ....they were basically handed the keys to their respective franchise...while other players have ot earn their playing time and make a name ofr themselves

thats true but its still possible that he can be...he has the potential ....hes already a wayyyy better free throw shooter and has a lil mid range game goin....he has the post moves which howard still shockingly doesnt have even workin wit ewing.....bynum this season stats are better than every center in the leauge...his potential is still thru the roof especially since hes a 7 ft er and centers these days are horrible...hes an allstar starter hands down

If Bynum was a first option he wouldnt put up Shaq numbers. If u watch games Bynum doesnt get double team alot. OTher teams does not focus mainly on his impact on the court. If he was playing for a team outside of Kobe he would get more attenion on the defense. see what i'm saying

prime shaq is nto better then a prime kobe....shaq is def the most dominate post player prolly ever....but centers and power forwards are destined to have less skills than a sf or sg....kobe can pretty much do every thing on an above average level....post or back to the basket players dont need those skills and idk wat coac would want shaq ttakin jump shots....

ummm Prime Shaq is a much more effective player than prime Kobe. Shaq lead his lakers team 16-1 in the playoffs in 2001. when Kobe was injured, Shaq carried his team to 11-3 during the regular season. Shaq in just his 3rd year finished 2nd in MVP votes at the age of 23. Kobe havent had playoff success without Shaq until Pau Gasol came in the picture

u act like kobe was injured the whole playoffs....kobe had just as much to do with that 16-1 than shaq did....and after the game 1 loss to iverson and the 76ers they were ont he verge of givin up a lead in game two...shaq got fouled out....guess who stepped up? kobe....just like in 2000 against indiana...kobe missed the previous game wit anke injury same scenario...shaq out wit fouls...kobe steps up .....kobe came to a team with established stars....shaq didnt and was already the best player

You use the word "better" if that means just all around "ball-skills" than the best ever would be one of the great point guards, period.
I believe better had more to do with impact on the game and you cant say that a guy shooting 43% is going to be more dominant than a guy demanding double downs from the elbow and sometimes tripple teams from the oppisit block.
Kobe got single teams in the 2000 years not because he wasnt as good as he is now but because Shaq was THAT good.
