Throughput the history of these orginizations they have remained predominantly black due to their elite place in the black community. A DST alum step team came to the University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign last October for our African American Homecoming. I covered the step show for my journalism class and I was blown away. Clean, strong and dominant. Not to mention some of the nicest people I have ever spoken with. Way to represent!
I've been told dat my 3.0 g.p.a and educational background will be fine, but I'm scared on the community service part, but I want to participate in service on campus when I transfer n the fall, & raise my g.p.a & serve my community, I've went on the national website & read a book on the history of my interest, & I have a great personality, so am I doing everything good so far!!! black greeks have a distinctive "call" that they use to represent themselves...the sounds the Deltas in this video are making is a high pitched oo-oop sound. The AKA call i skee wee...the zeta call is z-phi and sgrho say eeyip...to my knowledge the calls dont particularly mean anything...but im not greek and I could be wrong about that last part...anyway great job deltas of course the best sorority ever founded

Each chapter to its own. And you will find out all that is needed when you attend informationals and events held by them. At least thats how things work at my school. You want to be greek you do ya research and you dig deep and the same goes with finding out the amount needed for community service.....

Can someone that knows DST history please explain why they formed their own sorority?? I heard they wanted more service work, and not focus on popularity.. were the AKAs at that time focused on doing social things, instead of important thing?? What happened?

I always go back to this yard show, & it feels like just yesterday. Thank u to all the ppl on here showing love. To those who choose to hate, thank u too because this lets us know we do our job well. U can't please everyone, but we try our best 2 represent Delta well. My LS posted this video 2 share w/the public because she is proud, & I love her 2 death. So like we were told when we were young, If u don't have anything good 2 say, just don't say anything at all.Much LOVE

I have been NUPE for almost 20 years now..and this is the FIRST time I saw delta strut and step like the Deltas I remember from my Undergrad years..Made me think that not all undergrads have forgotten how to be hard, classy, sexy and strong..That was ON POINT..YO_OOP!krimson love

What do those noises/sounds represent? I wonder......Are they just shoutouts to the Deltas?.............Go girls, you are all the bomb. Deltas are one of the most respected sororities that I know of, so are AKA's and Zeta Phi Beta.

black greeks have a distinctive "call" that they use to represent themselves...the sounds the Deltas in this video are making is a high pitched oo-oop sound. The AKA call i skee wee...the zeta call is z-phi and sgrho say eeyip...to my knowledge the calls dont particularly mean anything...but im not greek and I could be wrong about that last part...anyway great job deltas of course the best sorority ever founded

Each chapter to its own. And you will find out all that is needed when you attend informationals and events held by them. At least thats how things work at my school. You want to be greek you do ya research and you dig deep and the same goes with finding out the amount needed for community service.....

Can someone that knows DST history please explain why they formed their own sorority?? I heard they wanted more service work, and not focus on popularity.. were the AKAs at that time focused on doing social things, instead of important thing?? What happened?
And does anyone know of bookstores, or websites where I can purchase books of DST and AKA history??

I wish as a people we would come together and stop pulling each other down. As black sisters we need to stop tearing each other down and building one another. We are all in the same struggle. It is about service that AKA and DST have done. Until you think about that nothing else matters. Its a legacy. If you have built on anything else then Im sorry to say it but your labor might be in vain. If you are an AKA or DST remember built dont tear down cause if so your being a disgrace to both BGLOS
