However, the CA justice system BETRAYED Polanski back in 1971 thru overturning the death penalty originally given to the killers of Polanski's wife (Sharon Tate) & their unborn baby. For their vicious 160+ stab wounds inflicted upon 9 victims, the Manson killers were REWARDED with "life WITH possibility of parole". So now, who's the worst of the two "bad guys" here: Polanski, or the CA justice system?

I think Polanski is guilty of rape because she said no--but that would apply to any girl regardless of age. My only problem is using the term "child" if someone is under the age of consent which is very arbitrary. In America you'd be put away if you were an adult having sex with a 16 yr old but in most European countries it would be legal. In Spain the age of consent is 13--does that make them a nation of pedophiles? What is age-appropriate is not written in stone--but Polanski should do time.

If his name was Father Roman Polanski, the public would want his head on a platter. 13 yr. old girls cannot legally consent to sex, be it with a peer or a 44 yr. old man. The fact that the Hollywood film community is presenting a signed petition to the American authorities asking for clemency is APPALLING.. Even if S.G. would like the case to be dismissed, isn't there a moral, ethical and legal obligation to ensure that justice is served?
