  • Loving the Basket Weave! Youre amazing! I was almost suprised at the end when you said you didn't own a bakery.

  • i want to write scrolls and scrolls in your praise but i can't find any words!! you are out of this world - buttercream queen!! i would need another lifetime to be a smidgen as good as you. love the colors you use, love the way you decorate!! learning a lot from you - thankyou!!

  • @saraconnar Aw! Thank you for your kind words :D

  • lol very adorable!! i luv the baskety thingamabobwhatchathingy! (lol) and i agree with animeaddiction your writing does not suck (u should see mine lol)and your attention to detail is very... scary. but it makes the cakes so pretty!!= D

  • aww!! the cornucopia was so cute & nicely done!! P.S. your handwriting does NOT suck!! i like it. ;P

  • wow! i just wanted to ask if icing sugar can be used as a glaze, im unsure and thought id ask the expert!

  • lol, well, I know it can but I don't have a recipe for it. Look up cakecentral, they have a ton of recipes on there and people who have used them :)

  • oks thankyou soooooo much! :)

  • You make all of the decorating so easy. Its great watching youre video's. It made me want to bake end decorate cakes to. Ceep up the great work, thanks!!

  • Thank you!! :)

  • hmm... i think i'm going to try it!

  • i've heard that a good way to practice decorating is to use instant mashed potatoes (on a plate, not a cake! lol). do you think that it would stay up? or would it just kind of mush out?

  • lol, I'm not sure how that would work, I guess it would depend on how smooth the mashed potatoes are, and if they don't have any lumps.

  • thankyou sooo much, i tried with whippd cream over and over again, in the end it went liquidy, now m gna try with mash potatos!

  • it looks awesome its just wat is cornucopia?? XD

  • Look it up on the net, a cornucopia is a symbol of plenty of food :)

  • where do you get your tips or the set it came in?

  • I bought them from a local craft store.

  • couldnt you also for the basket weave-ohh i cant remeber the tip number but it is like a basket weave ahh i will try to rember the tip number

  • I actually have a video all about basketweave :)

  • Hi, awesome decorations. I was just wondering how long your cakes keep for?

  • Well, they generally get eaten within 3 days so I haven't tested them longer than that. I usually bake a day or 2 ahead of when I need the cake so they're good for about a week as long as they remain covered. I also keep everything at room temp, the frosted cake does not go into the fridge.

  • I love your videos. Very educational and the music is great. Maybe you can enlighten us with a video to decorate a cake for Christmas.

I want to impress my family but can't come up with any ideas. I keep waiting for your next video, even if it isn't on a Christmas cake. Maybe the cream cheese frosting you said you were going to try. Just keep them coming, please. Thanks for sharing. Blessings and Merry Christmas

  • Hey Kitty, I actually tried to film a cake the other night but couldn't get the camera to focus properly. This new camera is such a pain!! Maybe I'll do another slide show though with some winter-themed ideas.

I did try a couple cream cheese frosting recipes but haven't hit on the 'perfect' one yet. I have my own which is good but I don't know it if will work as well for everyone else.

Maybe I can do a video this week, have to see how things go...

  • The turkey was so cute.Did you end up eating it?

I love your videos I`ve seen all of them.Thank you so much for sharing them with us.

  • The kids and I ended up eating the frosting, mostly the kids ;)

  • Some tell to use a bag with very little icing in it, squeeze it all down towards the tip and try holding and squeezing it as though it were a pen. I tried that and saw a big improvement on my writing the very first time. Still not the greatest but much better.

    Enjoyed your video as always.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you.

    Shadow

  • I have heard of that before but I find that the smaller amount of icing I have that harder it is for me to handle. I have pretty big hands, I feel like I have more control if the bag is fuller.

Hey, happy holidays to you too!!!

  • beauty'' u r just ....mhmmmmm....superb with your butter cream ,must try my hand on it

  • good job! thank you for sharing!

  • Love your cake decorating techniques. LOVE THEM, LOVE THEM!

  • Beautiful...I love them.

    Happy Thanksgiving, SeriousCakes.

  • I love watching your videos. I am going to be making a very simple wedding cake for my daughter in a little over a month. She only wants a two tiered cake so that will be okay. Plus her grandma is getting her a sheetcake of another flavor.

I once tried some store bought fondant but I did not like the flavor. I thought it was nasty so either fondant is nasty or else that brand was nasty. Have you ever tried using those edible food pens for coloring on a cake?

  • Awesome! Let me know how the caking goes!!

I haven't tried the food pens on cake, but I did try them on cookies and candy clay without success :(

  • You are super good thanks for replying on my question regarding buttercream....big Thanks...your such an inspiration Happy thanksgiving..

  • Oh my you are the best. What tip or tips can you give me about cake decorating. My 15 yr old daughter and I attempt but it comes out not so great and we dont know how to use the tips. I will practice an Iam glad you alway include Tip #, but I still need to see it up close ... I want to practice but I need to see something to keep practicing.

  • Unfortunately I cannot do close-ups when I'm filming because when I turn the cake whatever I'm filming goes out of the picture. If I could get someone else to film me that would be a different story :)

Practice is really the key, pressure control is something that only comes through practicing and once you get the hang of it you'll have very little trouble making whatever you want!

  • wow thats awesome. i absolutely LOVE your cakes!

  • Thank you!!

  • Hey happy thanxgiving, and once gain a masterpiece, looked amazing and yummy.

  • Happy Thanksgiving to u & your family too. u r indeed a very talented lady in decorating cakes. those are beautiful. keep it up.

  • Wow! Very good job!!

  • wow!!! how can anyone eat these pieces of art!!

  • lol-they're just asking for it, seriously, you walk by and the frosting just begs to be eaten! :)

  • Very good job on the cornocopia by the way it's beautiful! as is everything else on that cake! =)

  • I'm addicting to caking as well! Haha it gets so expensive! =)LOL

  • Thank you :)

  • Love it! Love it! I wish I have as much patience as you.

    HAve a Happy Thanksgiving :-)

  • You too sweetie!! :)

  • Very well done. I love your videos. You amaze me how you do this without using fondant. You go girl.

  • Thank you!! Hehe, that's my goal, everything in buttercream :)

  • haha at first when in the beggining i thought you were doing all this on a cake. and i was like how did she get the cake to be so round like that and smooth! but great job though

  • lol-the beginning of my video was originally going to be like those emergency broadcast tests...'This is a test of the emergency caking system. What you are seeing is not a cake, had this been an actual cake you would be drooling on your computer. Again, this was just a test' :)

  • Amazing, Nice job and Thank you;)

  • LOVED THIUS

  • this is serious stuff.

    =D

    I love it.

  • You have inspired me to try some of the things that you do. Do you ever make gumpaste flowers? I love to experiment making them because they make suck beautiful flowers. I have also made the chocolate rose that you did which was an inspiration from you also. Thank you so much you are so talented and also have done the brush embrodiery from watching yours also. Dinieby

  • Thank you! No, I haven't tried gumpaste yet but I've seen some incredible work done with it. Do you have your pics posted somewhere? I'd love to see them :)

  • Thank you for the email, no I don't have any pictures posted I hope to someday but right now don't have time and don't have the know how of how to do it. I love to watch everyones videos it is a good teaching. I have taken 3 classes of wilton so far, I have to take 2 cakes sunday for the finals on coares 2 and fondat and gumpaste. I think I have learned more from just watching the videos here on you tube. Do you have any suggestions of anyone elses to check out.

    Thanks

  • Unfortunately there is a serious lack of caking videos on youtube, tonedna does things like fondant, marzipan, and royal icing, and aine2 does figurines, but for the kind of things I make I haven't found too many. I'm hoping that more people will though, I love watching people decorate cakes!!

  • Thank u sooo much for this! Now I have a topping for my turkey day cupcakes!

  • You're welcome! :)

  • These decorations were very cute and gave me some ideas, but I must say, the shadows and dark lighting made it hard to see the details of your piping- especially on the cornucopia and turkey (chocolate buttercream). I'm glad I could see the results with the pictures taken in the end. Nice work! Keep em' coming!

  • *sigh* The lighting in my kitchen is actually very good! For some reason the camera dims it and I can't tell until I go to upload the video :( Hmmm, maybe I'll get a lamp just for when I do another video, that might help :)

  • very nice!
