  • at 1:08 I thought he was going to kick his butt. ><

  • From my own experience, low kicks and hands are quicker to use in a self-defense situation, especially a life or death situation. And I know how to throw high kicks.

  • @Diggy22 I have to agree with this... I can throw a high kick no problem, but the combination of hands and feet. Feet below the waist and hands above is a lot quicker and also non-telegraphic. Reference Wing Chun.

  • My only problem with this is that I have no way of knowing if it's legit.

  • what is the name of the dvd?

  • how does this teach you to kick high with out a warm up? i dont understand

  • @TheMossad921

    See the DVD.

  • can i throw high kicks/head kicks if i just focus on stretching only my groin or do i have to do other things i have speed and power cuz imma soccer player so i dont really need much practice in that please reply

  • @Freddy3rocksout Id sugest the DVD or a lot more research because theres a hell of a lot more to it than just stretching your groin.

  • i think high kicks are more of offensive moves than defensive.

either ways high kicks are awesome!

  • High kicks are useful even in MMA between skilled fighters, so high kicks are useful when used properly from what I can tell.

  • @onlyashadow1121 is it true that all people who do the split cant do high kick when there legs are cold ? without warm up ?

  • @soslabass No it's not because i can.

  • NICE

  • If its in self-defense and you cant run, low kicks FTW!

Go for the knees (or balls if you don't want your attacker in a wheelchair), both work excellently. There are reasons these techniques are banned from competition, remember street fights don't have rules.

  • I have this dvd, this guy is an expert in kyokushin karate. He is good and has explosive speed and power in his kicks.

  • The only people who think high kicks don't work in a real fight are the people who can't do them. If you say high kicks don't work what you mean is high kicks don't work for you, because you lack flexibility or you have weak legs from sitting in front of a computer all day.

  • flexibility and strength wont help you land the kick, its all in the timing and proper distancing. Its very risky compared to punching in the jaw.

  • Yes,like 4 times.

  • Legs are the extra weapons you could use in a fight, but it's far from being that simple. If you want to use kicks in a fight, firstly you'd need speed (wich can be apdopted throuout flexiblity training), and you need to train your legs to be VERY powerfull. Powefull enough to really hurt someone with.

  • i like what i see in here , of course in self defense there are a whole lot of other tools to use like your fists , throwings , low kicks... but this is very helpful not just for the street but for competitons like kenka karate , muay thai , full contact...so i give thumbs up for this!!!

  • If you can kick their face, why not kick their shins or groin? A low kick is harder to see coming, easier for the kicker, and does not risk balance as much.

Kicking a knife from an agressors hand is crazy. It may work on an inept thug (if you're lucky), but if you tried this on a knife fighter, you would probably be killed.

I'm sure this is a good way to teach high kicks, but I feel it could be dangerously misleading on the self defence side of things.

  • It's less dangerous to try and disarm a knife with a kick. Especially if you have shoes on to protect your feet.

  • I'm sure this method of learning kicks is effective, but high kicks really aren't for self defence. If you can kick their face, why not kick their shins or groin? A low kick is harder to see coming, easier for the kicker, and does not risk balance as much.

Most importantly, kicking a knife from an agressors hand is crazy. It may work on an inept thug (if you're lucky), but if you tried this on a knife fighter, you would probably be killed.

  • wow this is quite horrible

  • Wow. I used to be a fatty when i started martial arts, and i got my high kick after 2 months. Isnt really that hard. Well yeah, given that you have good flexibility, wich can be obtained.

On a side note, i wouldnt advise anyone to try a high kick in a fight ever.

  • thanks but if you are slow with the kicks that doesn't mean that everyone is slow too ... i've used high kicks and i can tell you they work perfect in a real situation...

  • well if the person is inexperienced in martial arts he surely will not see the kick coming.

  • powerful kicks come from stepping out at an angle and pivoting your planted leg to rotate the hips.

  • Provided one has the flexibility and the power at the full range of motion, even "cold" (without a warm-up)--which is what this DVD teaches.

  • as a martial artist myself i find it hard to beleve that you can learn good high kicks so fast.

i have been doing several martial arts for over 11 year and there are still moments when my kicks aren't correct.

  • What the hell, what kind of lame martial art are you doing? I've been doing taekwondo since August 2006 and I can do the splits and vertical front kicks.

  • seriously... i haven't watched this dvd, but there isn't the slightest chance to get a novice to kick with power and good height with the addition of staying stable...

  • So, you say the novices should not even attempt to learn?

  • I would advise every person on this planet to learn some form of martial arts, but I would never advise them to try high powerful, stable kicks without training your mind and body... And that doesn't come overnight...

  • Which is why this DVD shows the most effective and time-efficient training method for mastering high and powerful kicks... Duh!

  • Not bad...informative, I am a martial artist, been doin' it for eight years now, and naturally I have some skeptical about learning anything from a martial arts video, but I am keeping my mind open...ya never know, this could save a life some day

  • very good kicks

  • flexibility and power are two different concepts.

  • "Anyone who thinks they can learn martial arts techniques from a video deserves what's coming to them."

What about former UFC middleweight champion Evan Tanner who is known for the fact that he bought some DVD's and learned how to fight? And also you must not have known that many Kung Fu masters from the past wrote books containing their art and passed it down. You should keep quiet on things you dont know about.

  • Well done Brotha Kurz. Kicks are coming back. In competition, sure people are expecting them. But on the street a fast powerful accurate high kick is most of the time a suprise. Cheers.

  • Definitely...Also on the street they dont have gloves or headguards to protect themselves...Brilliantly effective

  • Got a quick question about the roundhouse kick. Seems they use chairs and obstacles to teach a roundhouse kick with lifting the knee first. Personally, I find this technique harder than a last minute turned kick that starts similar to a front kick (can kick those cold but the other kinda hurts my hip when not warmed up).

  • Look and you'll see that Mac chambers the roundhouse kick more in front than to the side--chair or no chair. If your hips hurt when you kick over the chair it is because you chamber too much to the side. That's an error.

  • Anyone who thinks they can learn martial arts techniques from a video deserves what's coming to them.

  • PLEASE! Do not try to kick a knife from anyones hand because the foot is always slower than the hand and u WILL get ur foot cut.

  • Dear friend,

You don't fight the weapon, you fight the man.

  • i've got the stretching and science of sports training book - both excellent, but just wondered for kicks w/out putting the knee chamber down it must also require static active flexibility? or is it still dynamic?

  • Both. But this DVD does not concern itself with such academic divagations. It simply teaches how to kick high with knock-out power and without any warm-up.

  • Noooo, thanks!!

  • But what if he is not "hodign" you?

  • Yhe point is: in a real panic situation you react on instinct and will not see agressors coming. Now If Its a drunken/hight junkie with a blunt knife that wants you money and comes at you blunt and open its ok. But what If some one is hodign you? you have no space for kickin

  • You cant talk shit about this video, Thomas Kurtz wrote the most widely used stretching book. Vincenttam is a idiot and listen to him if you wanna hurt yourself. Its all about dynamic stretching

  • OH YEAH! OLD MEN KICKING haha

  • omg, all you gotta do is be able to do a split in a snap of a finger. Just stretch the legs everyday. And when u can do a split anytime without pain. Than you wont need to stretch to do fast kicks. simple karate scence
