lol he rarley dunked..but he did dunk..lol..It was always funny when he did cuz even back then we used to say white boys couldnt ball(not as much as younger dudes say today)..But Larry was the man, people downplay him cuz hes white but hes top 10 player of all time and played during the most stacked era in the leauge...
@julioholderbusiness yeah he is top 10 my list goes like this: 1. Michael Jordan 2. Shaquille O'neal 3.Wilt Chamberlain 4. Kareem Abdul Jabbar 5. Magic Johnson 6. Larry Bird 7. Hakeem Olajuwon 8. Oscar Robertson 9. Bill Rusell 10. Tim Duncan/Kobe Bryant
Dr. J mising the easy left handed layup at start of video.....Robert Horry was right when in June 2007 he said back in the 1980s guys couldn't go left.
The Pacers played the Lakers for the NBA championship in 2000. Larry Bird was the Pacers coach and he screwed us, the Pacers, by playing his buddy Chris Mullin over Jalen Rose. Mullin was a good player in his day with Golden State, but he was an old, washed up player with the Pacers. All Mullin did was get beat defensively and brick three pointers. Jalen was in his prime and could have helped slow down Kobe. Shame on you Bird!!!
In high school, Larry Bird and his brothers used to drive all over the midwest (Indianapolis, Saint Louis, Gary, Chicago, Kansas City, Detroit. Cincinnati) and Louisville to play in some of the toughest playgrounds imaginable. That's where he earned the nickname "the brother of another color". Dude was a playground legend before the rest of the country saw him play for Indiana State. That's why he never played intimidated when he came to the NBA. Prison-ball in Gary was probably tougher to him.
He actually had a pretty respectable vertical jump. Bird and Malone actually recorded that same exact vertical jump at the NBA combine...28 inches. I got that stat from a site called TopEnd Sports.
@scrapdawgs He jumped like 25 inches but it was a timing thing, Caldwell Jones jumped more and still got dunked on because Larry´s long arms and perfect timing.Gasol does this all the time.
That's what I say. You can't play in the NBA and be a poor athlete. You have to at least be fast enough and explosive enough. Bird was at least those two things. He was actually Magic Johnson's athletic equal.
@MatthewHageman 2 steps after dripple, not a walk, can't believe your questioning this compared to the 4 dribbles Lebrick and others are allowed to take.
@46Imthebest at first i thought it was a travel too, but if you watch closely, u can see him bounce the ball after he catches then takes two steps toward the rim for the dunk.
He wasn't as unathletic as people thought. In his younger years he had a nice quick first step and he could run the court very well. Plus he obviously had enough ups to poster dunk that guy.
Man, I wish that the Celtics would wear the green shoes again. I remember sweating my parents for a pair of green nikes back in the 80s, like the ones Henderson (#42) is wearing. Those were the days.
@fatal9ish hey dude ur videos are getting even better!!! this one is awesome, the last shot i had to watch about 3 times to belive it. keep up the great work !!!!

Like Steve Nash, highlights don't show you the little things. Not saying Nash is at Larry's level, but things like keeping a dribble alive so he can constantly keep moving, coming to the rebounder so he can make an easy, easy outlet pass, being a master of the pick and roll...
