In high school, Larry Bird and his brothers used to drive all over the midwest (Indianapolis, Saint Louis, Gary, Chicago, Kansas City, Detroit. Cincinnati) and Louisville to play in some of the toughest playgrounds imaginable. That's where he earned the nickname "the brother of another color". Dude was a playground legend before the rest of the country saw him play for Indiana State. That's why he never played intimidated when he came to the NBA. Prison-ball in Gary was probably tougher to him.

Like Steve Nash, highlights don't show you the little things. Not saying Nash is at Larry's level, but things like keeping a dribble alive so he can constantly keep moving, coming to the rebounder so he can make an easy, easy outlet pass, being a master of the pick and roll...
