  • so what if You got the 3G version...BUT you id not turn it on?

  • Apple will continuously blame AT&T, whether it's their fault or not because AT&T won't point the finger back. AT&T doesn't want to upset Apple. Apple is also having problems with their iTunes security. Twice. They can't blame AT&T for that one. Apple is now a target for hackers and Apple has to step it up or look like a villain.

  • @MGperez21 that makes sense.

  • Rogers and bell seems ok in Canada

  • Thats Why You Make More Then One Email!!

  • alright chill, we dont mind if you look down at your notes! lol

  • @arithehun It's not Apple's fault. Think about your logic there, since it's AT&T in specific which had created this "security breach". Why haven't the iPad users in OTHER countries suffered from the same problem? In the U.K., Vodafone is the data-server, if I am not mistaken, and they have not reported any security breach on their iPads...

  • get a teleprompter ^___^'

  • Im safe because i have neither of the ipads

  • apples fault....they suck xD

  • lmfao raped :) x

  • All about lakerz ayy haha fuck boston

  • AT&T blows wieners....

  • Wow, and I thought apple was impervious.

    p.s. I love apple.

  • @elreekojeeko While they certainly aren't, this was AT&T's shit.

  • Oooo an email address. Seriously, its not a huge deal. Plus its AT&T specific and has already been patched, probably before the news of it broke. Not Apple's responsibility. AT&T made the verification/account service and its up to them to make it secure.

  • @EckyPro you're an idiot

  • @mikedeezy13x yeah? not sure why you said that. I thought what I said was more true to the actual story. The news is very "stabby" and sensational lately and it worries me that people are getting put off of something from bad journalism, to be honest. Theres not a lot of actual truth these days, just shotgun blogging with no substance.

  • Somebody's getting SEEEUUUUUUDDD!!!

  • Thanks for the post. I was debating whether to buy an iPad wifi only or with the 3g. Now I know I think I may just get the wi-fi version. Thanks!

  • @puck44 me too

  • Haha he looks like he was crying.

  • and thats why verizon is so awsome

  • ...wow.. Those guys are gonna die!

  • Wait.. If it was AT&T's fault, then why did it only affect the iPad.

  • hahahahah i love looking at all the apple fanboys comments in the comment section: "ITS NOT APPLES FAULT, THEY CANT DO ANYTHING WRONG, ITS ALL ATAT!!!!1

  • @ryaniss0beastyo its AT&T!

  • GET THAT ANGELS HAT OUTTA HEREEEEEEEEE

    hahah huge A's fan here

  • hey your wearing hollister

  • Anyway, I think it's AT&T's fault. I think that 1) this affects the US ONLY and 2) Apple has NO responsibility whatsoever in the personal information. I'm sure that when AT&T servers transfer the info to Apple's servers (that's probably where the hackers got access to em), the transfer protocol is probably in AT&T's certificate.

  • @Juniorpond yes they could not penetrate apple's servers. no one ever has.

  • @DiClivity What you said sounds more like wishful thinking than reality... of course people have hacked into their servers. However, AT&T has gotten very stupid lately and I wouldn't be surprised if AT&T has any blame on this. Apple on the other hand should have taken over the security process instead of letting AT&T do the work there... but whatever... both have the blame... but the canon is on AT&T's side.

  • Yay! I live in Canada so it doesn't effect me! :D

"But... you don't have an iPad." *mutters* ...Oh ya... :(

  • is it only at@t will this going to happen in the uk i just byeing 1 to day anf=d it cums in 2 week will it be sade

  • well im happy im getting my 3g ipad on sunday so this dosent affect me.

  • lol why is this news? This is what happens all over the world daily. These hackers just did not want money it seems. Most of the times the hackers just get paid and no1 knows anything ;) I know this because.

  • Sucks for those 3G users, I have the Wi-Fi version :P

  • apple thinks they are untouchable .... idiots apparently their marketing department didn't only convinced (lied) their customers that they are haker proof but apperently they also convinced their programming department that they are...

  • Who's fault? The Hackers! They should be put on trial for committing an act of terrorism. Start tossing a few of this arseholes in the pen for about 20 years or so and this shit will end. Identity theft and theft of personal information has to stop!

  • I'm pretty sure he said AT&T was hacked nothing to do with apple......

  • ha thats funny final someone figured how to get apple

  • Good man tryin to help people out, big part why I love your channel is you're a cool guy :D

  • so basicaly, it's at&t's fault, not apples...

  • I hope they get busted

  • what information do people need to signup

  • I just got a 3g model yesterday. Haven't set up the 3g though, so its okay for now i guess... lo at goatsy

  • I think I'm glad I got the WIFI version! :-)

  • damn 4fags.

  • Your obsession with all things Apple is becoming annoying

  • @sagat4 no its not ur annoying

  • @computerhelp92 coming from the guy who can't spell are. nice..

  • hey check out my videos on youtube i need more views please!!! my youtube name is rlouis16 thanks

  • Oh, this makes me laugh.

  • Wish apple could focus on actual security rather thn all cosmetic stuff,

  • @mifster83 Its AT&T's fault...

  • I don't think we have enough information to know.

  • its okay for me i live in the uk!!!!!!!!!

  • me too go uk. dont you think apple are ripping us off we have to pay from £420 for an iphone while americans only pay 99 dollars which is about 70 pounds

  • @jasper9291 hahahahahahahahha loser

  • @skpaulskp suk my balls

  • was it a white hack to expose the flaw or are they going to make nefarious use of the aquired data?

mark my words your going to see alot more exploits that malware will take advantage of on apple products in the coming years

I hope they've forplanned for this

  • Oops.

  • I think AT&T needs better security, yes u could blame apple for not encrypting it, but its was AT&T's security problem that is the main reason for this

  • whosever fault this is, regardless if its Apple's or AT&T, its unacceptable. both companies should have taken precautions to ensure things like this dont happen. in my eyes, both companies should be held responsible

  • they got a bit owned then

  • Holy shit. #LOLThis is why you wait for second gen to tech rather than buy too early. What a burn for iPad 3G owners.

  • AT&T they should protect there networks better!!!

  • Apple isn't perfect?!!?

  • You gotta get your facts straight Jon. This is SOLELY and AT&T issue and has nothing to do with apple's security. Also the only thing that was taken were email addresses.

  • thats what you get for buying a friggin ipad lol :D

  • 1. You've gotta love YouTube today... where someone makes a video where the host simply reads an article. Wow. I like your vids Jon, but please stick to the reviews.

    2. By the sounds of it it's AT&T's fault, and this is why I am much happier to be in the UK where we have FOUR 3G operators which could make the same problem... but only a quarter as bad.

    3. I doubt anything will happen with your data. 114000 people... just to prove a point.

  • I hear team Goatse left the iPad's security gaping wide open...

  • verizon!.....

  • quick everybody get a wifi version!!!

  • *sigh* looks like apple's gotta pay us all a millions dollars each as an apology ;)

  • Wow what r the odds of a new electronic product having major security issues. Wow!

  • jon, poor form here - the breach was with AT&T (unless you're Gawker media with a personal axe to grind); if you're using the iPad WiFi only or you're using the iPad in another country, it's not an issue and the 'huge' breach as you say is the divulging of email addresses.

  • WHY IS APPLE STICKING WITH AT&T .

  • just put me in the room with all the hackers. and ill rip thier fucking heads off. i fucking hate those lowlifes peices of shit. especially when im playing games...

  • yay Wi-Fi FTW

  • Jon's one HOT nerd, I should say.

  • @kkjgg112391 I know!!! :P

  • @GaeilgeSpraoi HAHAHAHAHA! XD

  • You never told us what the hackers could do to us with this information and what we can do to protect ourselves.

  • This is no ones fault to an extent, yes Apple should of encrypted the data and made it secure. But it's those god damn hackers why?! Get a job and earn money like everyone else these people ruin peoples safety!

  • lmao and this is deff gonna mess with the me i phone 4 drop cant truss att and apple any more

  • you should put ipad 3g in the title because i own the ipad wifi version and the title scared the crap out of me.

  • Very suggestive title ... it's AT&T, not Apple.

  • apple = microsoft now

  • lmao a group called goatse? xD

  • oh wow

  • ipad sucks! iphone 4 rocks!

  • COURT NOW!

  • hat?

  • also you said, its apple's job to secure the servers? why is it that at&t fixed the problem then? if it was apple's problem, they would've fixed it. or is that just too logical.

  • its sad that at&t sucks so much, and ruins apple's name...

  • LOL goatse

  • Responsibilty lies with both

  • This sucks, can you check if you have been affected? I think Im on the same page as jon4lakers, its apples fault.

  • Im digging the lighting jon.

  • thats not good now i'm glad that mine is the wifi model.

    take care

  • u looks younger with the cap on :P!

  • and thats why companies use blackberry phones for security

  • Lol, sucks for you guys that this is going to happen to you.

  • Example of this situation.

You park your car in a parking lot. Somebody steals it.

Will you blame the guy who sold the car to you, or the security of that parking lot?

Seriously, just because you dont like Apple doesnt mean they fuck up everything.

  • @pomssi1 yes but if the salesman said there was security features on it and then you realise that he lied and there was none

    p.s I love apple

  • wow, im on Verizon so i blame AT&T

  • Why blame Apple, it's obviously AT&T fault.

  • This just pisses me off. I have been a victim of identity theft and the credit card companies have been very good to help me out..wtf!?!?! Apple needs to do something quick or I will be at their door step...lol not much I can do, but hope my info was not leaked.

  • omg omg just throw ur stupid apple shit away, that solves the problem ;)

  • Woah, he looks stoned.

  • Shit happens.

  • Oh I'm sooo happy with AT& mother fucking T taking my damn money without asking me. Best company in the world!

  • It was only a matter of time for apple's laziness to come out.

  • @LotsOfGreatStuff its AT&T's laziness...

  • @HolyNinja147 and I quote" that information is sent through Apple to AT&T's servers." It was laziness on both their parts.

  • @LotsOfGreatStuff You're an idiot.

  • @LotsOfGreatStuff wtf its not apples fault its at&t's retard

  • @LotsOfGreatStuff & @HolyNinja147 the blame is on both Apple & AT&T

  • You steal all your tech news from Engadget.

  • Stupid Apple why have it sent to AT&A

you would of though they would have better firewall

Still it's a little funny that they hacked AT&A besides the info that was taken it's a little funny

  • @aboveyourself Well its definitely not the Europeans or Americans. This stuff takes some amount of intelligence.

  • @aboveyourself Your a raciest asshole, get off of here.

Seriously how old are you? "I bet the Jews did this", really thats something I would expect from an 8 year old.

  • than this isnt an iPad security issue its an AT&T issue .. the title is kind of misleading though the end result is ipad owners its still an AT&T issue

  • Doesn't affect me... I don't have a iFad.

  • @ogjbot think you mean fag....

  • @ogjbot wow your cool

  • You guys don't have to worry. I just read an article that was published 10 minutes ago saying that the hackers only got access to your email address, not login info or anything else. So the worst thing that can happen is an increase in spam. Nothing more.

  • @jshaw6600 nothing is ever sure and 100% true in the internet dude. u should know that. :)

  • @useurcamera

I do know that. But the actual data that was hacked was only email addresses.

  • AHA!! Microsoft Fan-Boys can't use the "Apple is not big enough so they don't try to hack it" excuse anymore. In your face 100 thousand+ peoples info just got stolen!!!...wait thats not a good thing :x

  • its not apples fault, its fucking at&t

  • Goatsea..... Sounds like Goatse which reminds me of goatse.cx. nasty name lol

  • but wait, apple doesnt ever have any problems with anything? right?

  • i doubt there gonna do any thing with all the information

like most of the people who were victems were normal people that r the hachers gonna wonna do with our accounts

  • so, how does this have anything to do with apple. this is AT&T's problem, people outside the US will not be affected by this

  • i really like the new outro.... :)

  • apple should get some iGuns and some iTanks and go shoot up those iBitches!

  • Haha i have said it before and will say it again Sony owns Apple

  • Apple, it just (doesn't) work... Someone had to say it.

  • lol apple and it's security

  • there's always just one small group of douchebags that ruin it for everyone.

they should be hunted down, and beaten, pathetic.

  • @fantastibones They should hunt you down, beaten, pathetic.

  • @marcoantoniomirandar They should teach you correct grammer, it's pathetic.

  • @fantastibones "They" should teach when your bed time is...

  • @marcoantoniomirandar Running out of an arguement now?, who's the real child?

don't bother replying, because your getting blocked.

  • Oh my Jon, it would be awesome-er if you looked at camera more often. Anyway, you are awesome man. Thank you for sharing important news.

  • but thats only 1 out of every 20 ipad 3gs that will have been breached

  • @RuneDbz 1 out of 20 is a lot. Its easy to say only if you dont have to worry about the problem. Anyhow, I have never supported apple but I know they are supposed to have good quality things. So I am actually a bit surprised.

  • oops, im not with ATT, hahaha ATT is absolute shit!!!

  • again another security breach on an apple product

  • yay for wifi =]

i was gonna get the 3G but yessssss

  • That's what people get for running out and being the FIRST to have the new toy!!! I always wait a few months at least so they can work out the major bugs at least. : )

  • Nokia n900 ftw!

  • this is AT&T's fault right??? NOT apple... it's upto the internet provider to set up (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not the most knowledgeable...) the firewalls, encryption, etc... so like I said, correct me if I'm wrong, but here's just ANOTHER reason to hate AT&T.

thank god our iPhone's weren't compromised... I'd be livid.

  • this is the first ive heard about this if this had happened to the htc evo all you ifanboys would be calling for the head of google htc and everyone inbetween but nope fanboys wont call out at&t our apple

  • @Spencerwalker21 Learn to write complete sentences. You sounded retarded.

  • @mnaitz don't be so rude. sorry I didn't put periods and commas where need be but who gives a flying crap

  • @mnaitz I hate morons like you who sit on their computer then go "Oh he wrote u instead of you and I am way to stupid to understand what it means so I will just comment on how stupid he is" everyone understands what he means and no one gives a fuck if he didn't write a proper sentence because everyone understands what he wrote... except you apparently who lacks common sense to understand what he wrote so the conclusion to this is that you are a moron.

  • @Blazerulesinkilling Awe, did baby not get to suck on his mom's nipple this morning?

  • cool

  • lol

  • what is AT&T?

  • @lxzilx It's an American Phone Company, they supplt the 3G for the iPad, like O2 doe's in the UK

  • I read the articles too, John. They didn't mention how apple could be blamed for this. The hackers got the emails from AT&T's servers, not apple's.

Although, I agree with you that ultimately, Apple does need to take responsibility for it's customers' info. In the end, it's Apple's fault for partnering with AT&T and trusting them with their customers' info.

So Apple is probably super choked at AT&T, so hopefully this will instigate the end of that relationship.

  • @videomissionary I hope this is the end of Apple & AT&T.

  • Lordy lord... Let's brace ourselves for a sue-war.

I am surprised that this had not happened with the iPhone Original/3G a few years ago.

Over 114,000 compromised... This is unbelievable. IMO, Both Apple and AT&T are at fault, although I believe that Apple is more to blame. Over the years, Apple has had lots of experience with encrypting data and creating a secure data-port to AT&T servers, each one being an individual port to the device's MAC address.
