I'm just getting into pipe smoking, but my grandfather (who stopped smoking before I was born) told me he would smoke his pipe in the shower. I asked him how it didnt go out and he said he smoked it upside down.

@thestout77 If you go to Facebook and look at the profile photos of stand up comedian Reid Hart (a friend I only got to meet the Facebook since he died about a year ago) you will see a picture (apparently used for part of a show he did) there is a guy (not Reid) standing in the show smoking a cigarette... I wonder how he kept that one lit!

I gotta tell you........ the music that you play in all of your videos is the music that was in every single gay bar I used to frequent in the 80's and 90's. It brings back many pleasant memories. I quit going to bars but boy, does that music bring back memories.

This probably sounds odd to many, but during the 2nd World War, here in England, when we had lights out during the Blitz. You could eben see the glow of a match from the sky. And anyone would have told you to put it out straight away during a raid. People were nervous about giving a location away, and people did smoke pipes up side down here. You can see it also in alot of the old war films here. Keep it up Pipefriend. Or is that down Ha! Ha!

I remember seeing a illustration when I was a child, maybe in Mother Goose, of a guy smoking a pipe upside down. Odd that it sticks in my memory.

this is a really awesome video! i do this with my friends grandpa when were in quebec and its snowing really hard so that no snow gets in our pipes. i can immagine that its the same idea in ireland however maybe seaspray is the biggest problem. i find that its really easy with a long cut tobacco and you pack your bowl like a basket.

That's kinda interesting. I remember seeing pictures of old Irishmen smoking clay pipes and they were upside down for some reason. I always wondered why. At least now I know it's possible.

When I was younger I tried smoking about 5 cigarettes at the same type...a suggestion for your would be to try smoking as many pipes as you can fit in your mouth..I don't see how this would fit in with the Mythbuster portion of these videos but it would be really cool to watch!!

If I was you, i would google search something like "best mild or smooth pipe tobaccos." Mild/smooth tobaccos are definitely what you would want to start out with.

Unfortunately, that is too vague to type into google. I've done hours of research and have already tried many kinds of tobaccos. I'm a lover of tobacco and could like almost anything, but as most pipe smokers would say, I am looking for the perfect smoke.
