please define exe4j_Java_home to point an installed 32-bit jdk or jre or download a jre from java.com.... what should i do?

    (im using ubuntu 10.04)

  • HEY how do you do this in windows? can you check your tf2 shortcut properties and look at the command, copy it and tell me ... I NEED HELP

  • Will it work on Debian GNOME as well ? And does it have any major bugs ?

  • Did u also install Steam?

  • @squiresuzuki Noo...

  • looks fine to me and when you get a big lag in xp your game completely shuts off and your comp takes a fucking hour to get rid of the damn lag screen it sucks balls

  • @Warskull24 That's just source engine.

  • When i use WINE for games my mouse keeps going off screen and i cant look 360 degrees and the option to allow direct X programs to keep the mouse in the window wont work. Otherwise the mouse gets caught on inviable barriers >.>

  • I'm using a good computer and steam lags soooooooo much. Tf2 lags alot also...

  • wine works great playing just cause 2 maxed out no lag :D

  • hi, i have intel e7300 @ 2.66ghz, 2gb ram and geforce 8500gt, when i play tf2(1024x768 low settings) i always have around 10-30 fps:( ubuntu 9.10, wine 1.0.1, can you help me?

  • You need to update your wine to 1.1.38

  • im using playonlinux and i play now 1024x768 all medium 30+ FPS:) thanks

  • yes, install windows

  • windows is biggest shit on the world

  • hahaha, im not only playing games and when i connect with windows without antivirus to internet i get virus immediately... now i fix some bugs and i get 30-200 fps on linux on 1024x768 all high

  • you're talking shit buddy.... theres no way you could "fix a few bugs" and go from 10-30 fps on low settings to 30 - 200 on max settings.... but hey, if you wanna lie so you don't look like a moron for using Linux.... go right ahead... whatever makes you feel better

  • :) i havent installed some drivers and i updated to 64bit system, i have almost always 50+ fps, sometimes is drop to 30 and when i am alone in small place i have around 200 fps

  • I heard you need some special fonts to use steam on Wine. Is this true?

  • Not really, since they're included in steam.

  • Actually, I had to install the traboja font to get it to work.

  • Oh, right.

I have no experience with Wine and Ubuntu, so Yeah... :P

  • Lol.

Anyways, TF2 under Wine actually ran faster than under Vista. XD

  • Kind of Obvious tho.

But I can't decide whether to choose XP or Ubuntu.

  • You can have both! Just dual boot!

With dual boot, you can choose which operating system to boot into on startup, similar to how you chose to run in safe mode. Just insert the install CD while Windows is running, and use Wubi to set up a dual boot. It install Ubuntu like a program, and can be removed the same way.

Just remember that if you reinstall Windows, it will erase any existing OS on the PC, including Ubuntu Linux.

  • Hey, thanks :D

So I just install Ubuntu and reboot?

  • Pretty much.

    PM me for further questions/comments/

  • @stevoisiak i do that (: other than the wubi part

  • Hmm, you seem to have this running perfectly. I've been trying to get this game running right the last few days in Ubuntu, but no luck. It runs, and even though I've tried a lot of things and it's running in DX8, I always get a huge FPS drop every third second or so no matter what my settings. I'll be running around with 60+ FPS...then bam, drops to 20 or below and back up again. I have an ATI 3870, don't know if that makes any difference or not (I've heard ATI can give some issues in WINE).

  • you get better performance in Xp or Linux ???

  • Better in XP.

  • @DaweyYT No really?

  • @DaweyYT and with compiz effects off?

  • dont you get better performance if you go full screen? or can you not do that with wine?

  • Yes you will, and yes, Wine can handle full screen just fine.

  • What is the size of your monitor?

  • 1680x1050 pixels.

  • Why is are you running it on DX8?

  • Because it works much better. But the video doesn't justify the real performance and the graphics quality.

  • So can wine use DX9 and render DX9 Graphics?

  • Yes, but it's a bit slower that DX8, especially with the Source Engine. But I hope we don't have to wait much more for Steam created for Linux (they are porting it). :)

  • @DaweyYT Where did you hear that they are porting Steam to Linux? I have been sending them many emails urging them to port it.

  • you can run this extremely smoothly on crossover games on dx 9, all settings maxed.

  • Except HDR right? I got a copy of CX Games when it was free, and I'm installing TF2 right now.

  • yeah, HDR doesn't work properly. but it's all good really.

  • it looks kinda smooth.. but im on my vista instead :P

  • LOL

  • w00t

  • sweet man.i still cant figure out how to run wine in linux. any suggestions?
