Fairford might be cancelled tomorrow, it is today and if the water dosen't drain away then i doubt it will go ahead tomorrow. They will announce if its on or off by 4pm BST
You got one hell of a view there! I live in Lincoln and regularly drive past that end of the runway, Im just amazed you managed to get that close on the day the Vulcan came home cos Lincolnshire police were pretty much like the gestapo around Waddo!!!lol!
Funny you should say that because alot of us that were on the A15 felt the police did a great job for us enthusiasts. They created a 40mph zone with which they had a camera van clearly siged. When the Vulcan came, cars were parking on the verge and the police didn't mind at all and even moved their bikes over to accomodate as many cars in the layby as poss. Of course on airshow weekend they were moving cars on that stopped but for us on the ground they didn't bother any of us.
I saw it flying over Leicester Airport, late 80's amazing !!! Concorde touched down but could not land, only a small airfield, you could see the air brakes fully on, wonderfull vid, gets me all nostalgic.
Bloody hell! I drive past that side of waddo everyday to the Police Station! Your a brave man standing there, I'd have poo'd my pants! I hope you had ear plugs in! Greeeeeat footage, love this aircraft.
She was in a fly by with the Lancaster leading today. Looked amazing and put a lump in my throat. I'm sure others have got it on video from today so have a check.
Actually, I disagree with that. The Vulcan had minimal impact on the war effort and was more of a psychological tool that one of material impact. It raids on the goose green airstrip didn't cause much damage, and even when it hit damage was repaired quickly. The air war was one primarily by the FS1 Sea Harriers of the Fleet Air Arm. Delve into the facts on the Buck raids you can actually see that the reasoning for them was quite flawed, merely an "excuse" to let the Vulcan get some action!
Great footage m8... I was down there yesterday in my waggon... I had a 20 hr day @ work... LMAFO.. Just kept on stopping.. looking into the sky in awe... customers were ringing saying " wheres my fridge ? etc " I just told them " Im stuck in traffic love " These encounters with the cream of aviation reallydo make your hairs stand on end... BRILLIANT !!
As that bloke in the video so eloquently said, 'kin 'ell!
Love it. Been following the Vulcans' progress and its fantastic they've been given the permit to fly and display at airshows in 2008! Roll on Farnborough! :)
