Why would you want to open the doors in flight? Are you kidding? Obviously you have never done it. The wind in your hair. Incredible visibility for shooting pics. Its like riding a motorcycle without a helmet. Its awesome.
Cost to build is high yes. But the used market they sell for a mere fraction of new cost.. Fun factor is high but for an investment most Kitplanes are expensive.
The reason we all starsted to build Kitplanes 30 years ago was to save money. Now build to spend more ? Must be something I don;t see here ?
@PeetPeeet Yes you can get used C152s from the early 70s for that cheap but to be quite honest with you, unless it has an almost flawless track-record and impecable maintenance history I wouldn't even do a test-flight in it.
blah; blah; blah, way too expensive; they seems to forget what expensive is; the reason why KITFOX became popular is because it was cheap, and I mean cheap, like 25.000$ and operating costs very low as well. I guess Dave(kixfoxflyer) knows what I´m taking about, you can have as much fun for a fraction of the cost. Kitfoxflyer is a living proof of that....
Kitfox are the best bang for the buck. Used market is full of them for a fraction of the new kit price. If you want to build great, but realize that the market value will be 1/3 to one half of kit cost. John McBean builds a great product. I got almost 200 Kitfox Movies , floats skis and Wheels - The Kitfox is a Riot ! Check it out

@kitfoxflyer My guess is the government has something to do with it. I think that is an excellent place to start.

I've seen used C152s going for $10,000. This airplane costs more than my house, it is not cheap.

I mean there are so many companies out there rushing to put a LSA on the market and it just a wing strapped onto a box with 2 seats.
stikmunkey 1 year ago
@stikmunkey sometimes you don't need more than that. Simple is good.

My complain about LSA is not the price but that they're so ugly!

Why should I buy this vs. a used Cessna apart from the "new airplane" factor.
