Up until the 2011 game (which is the very best MK game ever created) everything post 1996 was nothing but a major misstep for MK.

3D fighting planes and weapons looked like it was trying to be Soul Calibur, Armageddon & Vs DC Universe butchered the fatalities in different but terrible ways, not to mention the awful, AWFUL movies, TV series and spin-offs.

I didn't actually like mortal kombat 4. It was a decent game, but they moved too fucking fast, the animations were clunky and dislocating someone's arm 50 times in a match is too unrealistic. Even for a mortal kombat game.

@METALFREAK193 The last song is one of Goro's themes from the 1st movie's soundtrack. In fact, all the songs on here are from the soundtrack to the first movie. MKvsDC is not canon with the MK universe. Chronologically Mortal Kombat: Armageddon is the last one, and the new one (MK9) is history rewriting itself after the events of Armageddon. So basically MK9 is 1,2, and 3 being retold in an alternate history. The events of MKvsDC are purely what if, don't acknowledge MKvsDC. Hope that helped.

The problem that MK continues to have that has made it so near forgotten is its refusal to evolve. Look at the combo system from MKIII, it's stiff. you hit them a few times while the action never actually moves forward or back, then at the end of the combo they fly backward as if they were hit by a freight train.

going into the PS2 era, nothing had changed. everything is still stiff as it was before, air combos included.

Now MK9 is coming out and from the previews I see MORE OF THE SAME!

MK: Annihilation was one of the biggest pieces of cinematic FECES ever released. It was so hilariously AWFUL that the entire audience was booing it when I saw it! My friend was in denial about how much it sucked monkey ass.
