  • I must say who was ever in charge of video has never heard a Rush song ever before. Almost never captured the key parts as played.

  • @DMuckle Yeah, but this is the original source footage captured on-the-fly and edited in real-time by the CBC. If you have any of the officially released songs on dvd you'll notice many different edits. Expecting major network cameramen and crew who are probably more at home covering sports and politics to know every part of every song that was played by all the bands that day is a but much. Thanks for the comment, though.

  • @xxxx15us I understand, but as a drummer of 36 years born in Toronto, I expect more for the boys. I still don't understand how so many people (that should know better) cannot pronounce NEP's last name. It is nort even spelled like that.

  • @DMuckle Not being able to pronounce Neil's last name is a major peeve of mine as well. It's always astonished me that such an iconic musician with such a simple last name who has even clarified it himself many times in print and video still gets called "Purt" for decades.

  • @xxxx15us Even from people who act like they know 'of' him. I have had drum instuctors say he is one of their influences and yet still say it incorrectly. I always thought if I met him in person I would say "Mr. Peart, I hope I said that correctly as I know how important it is to say a person's name correctly, and how often your's is mispronounced. Well it's nice meeting you Niles. Damn it! I was so focused on your last name."

  • @DMuckle Hahaha! Yeah, it's bad enough for fans to do it but to see people in the media interview him or even the people featured in Beyond the Lighted Stage not know any better drives me crazy. If you haven't seen it, watch Neil's interview with Pamela Wallin on my channel. Not only is it a terrific interview but at the end she even politely confirms with him that she had pronounced his name right throughout. Why is that so hard to do? I'm also replacing that soon without watermarks.

  • @xxxx15us Yes, I have seen that one before. Keep up the good work.

  • @DMuckle That should have said "bit much", not "but much", haha!

  • Geddy's echo on Tom Sawyer is great- makes a song that I'm tired of sound refreshing again. And of course, Neil's drumming is spot-on. Love Alex with the goatee

  • Maybe no "circus atmosphere" but we still have the washing machines ! Thanks for posting never seen all of this before.

  • @MJL3764 Glad you enjoyed it!

  • Rush on their most unrehearsed day, is better than anyone on their best!

  • I love RUSH, but Ac/dc clearly drove them out of their hometown. Half the crowd was asleep when rush finished. Granted this wasn't an exclusive rush show. An honest opinion from an honest fan of RUSH. Thanks for reppin toronto

  • caught rush on the farewell to kings world tour.pat travers and the babys opened the show

  • i think it sounds pretty cool, and i've seen them just prior to this set..

    crockett

  • Sweet Alex singing he should do it more,Dreamliner sounds a bit different and I like it

  • This is awesome, thanks for sharing.

    Peace

  • Rush at their most unrehearsed or on their worst night, are better than just about anyone on this bill if not any other band around period. I don't think their necessarily sloppy here, but just the rough recording coupled with a horrible mix make it a hard listen considering what a rush fan is used to and come to expect from their dvds.

  • @ZIG4ZAG20 Well, yeah. That's why I said "by their standards". They weren't on a tour at the time and YYZ and Freewill in particular have some minor flubs but they're still great as always. And you're right, the dry, raw, soundboard-like audio has a bit to do with the roughness of it. As you said, Rush at their worst is better than most bands at their best. Thanks for commenting!

  • Thank you for posting this!

I love the way Alex's H&K tri-blades ring out with both the overdrive and the acoustic sound coming through.

Very nice. Absolutely love the Paint it Black intro to Spirit of the Radio!

  • @NoCheeseJustCrackers You're welcome! It does have a very raw unmixed sound to it which is kind of neat in a way and reveals the things you mentioned. They were a little sloppy at this show by their standards but it's still pretty darn good. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • This was so much fun. I was about 1/4 mile away from the stage, but still had a blast.

  • @INDYDG Cool! Thanks for the comment.

  • I like being able to hear Alex sing in this mix!

  • @analogkid01 Yeah, you can hear him very clearly in a lot of soundboard bootlegs as well.

  • Anybody else think "Dreamline" sounds better without all the little 'extras?'

*Too bad they couldn't have gotten a Camera Operator(s) who knew the band better so they could've shown key "solo" parts during YYZ.

AWESOME PERFORMANCE THOUGH, THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!!!!

  • @21PRIMEMOVER12 Thanks for the nice comment and glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, this is the raw footage that the CBC cameramen captured and the live director is the one who chooses what gets shown on the fly, not the cameramen. For those who have the official Sarstock dvd you'll notice that those three songs were re-edited after the fact for release.

  • This is really awesome!!, thank you for sharing it

  • @neolz You're welcome! Glad you liked it.

  • Nice to see them without the circus atmosphere.

  • @brengf

What do you mean by "circus atmosphere?

  • @MyTravelClips He can answer for himself but I'm sure he means all of their normal stageshow. Lights, pyro, rearscreen, etc.
