@leoantrizzy5 It's not ugly. What made it ugl was his ugly boot screen. It's actually a very powerful phone and it's better than the iphone 3g for that matter. It's just a little chubby lol coz it has a qwerty keyboard.. But i love mine HTC Dream!
that's because you're probably very computer illiterate, and really don't need all this shit we do. 1.5 is slow, outdated, and total crap compared to 2.2! and 2.2 is so much faster.
Fixing it is easier than rooting the phone. You put the DREAIMG.NBH file on your memory stick and boot the phone using the camera button and power button
hey can u please tell me how u got out using recovery image and SPL i can acces them both but except i dont know how to use them that well so can u please give me the instructions thanks
The problem is, without a working SPL, you can't enter recovery or bootloader mode. I see two possible ways out:
- The IPL may have an emergency recovery mode, which may allow to flash a working SPL, problem is, documentation is private, and we don't know if this mode is present (or how it works, supposing it is)
- To open the device open and attach a jtag to the motherboard (again, we don't know the points, and all documentation about how to do it is propietary)
I found out that if you press the power button and the scroll ball the led turns blue but the screen is off. That might be a start to access the IPL. I plugged it into the computer but nothing happened or showed up in device manager.
@crazyeye1 only is a sign of the jtag possiblility, which means you can unbrick it but its gonna take soldering and a shitload of reading up, look it up.
@harpowned Supposedly some guy hooked a jtag up to it and found that any paths that could have been used to upload new code through the chips had been disabled (fuses were blown in the circuit paths at the factory) The only way to fix one is to get a new motherboard out of an old phone. HTC was charging nearly $400 for factory new boards. Just another case of a phone manufacturer trying to prevent customers from using their phones as they see fit.
Owh...so sad :( The same thing happened to me once, after one of my continous firmware changes...but I was at least able to go into the bootloader and reflash the firmware.
What you see in the video is caused by flashing an incompatible SPL.
As you can see, there is no way to enter bootloader for fastboot or recovery mode, so there's no way to flash a correct spl, therefore this can't be fixed by normal means.
That phones ugly

have you managed to solve it? i have the same problem.

As I said below, I took it back and got a new one, I don't think this can be fixed, or at least not without special machinery and such.

I bricked my G1 after trying to install Rosie firmware. Luckily I had a recovery image, and my SPL was all correct and functional.
