  • i stopped eating mr dog when they changed the recipe.

  • look how much bigger the creme eggs r i knew those bastards had shrunk them

  • All bran advert very catchy

  • i really fancy a cadburys dairy milk now

  • Heat Electric? you need to be millionaire these days to do that!

  • Don't try for a wimpy work/life balance- take Solmin instead!

  • Those "scrumpers" are amateurs, you gotta climb the tree lads to get the best apples. And Mr Kipling didn't treat me to his Bramley apple pies... I got chased out by him waving a big stick at me ;-)

  • I remember the good old days when bus fare for kids was 15p and for adults it was 25p. And the old 01 STD Code. Those were the days.

  • Mister Dog should stayed Mister Dog!LOL@ the name!! My mum told me our dog used to eat it!! Mr kipling apple pies...ugh! far too sugary! never liked them! 80s ads eh...ahh the memories...

  • Economy 7 is shit!

  • Eat yourself fitter?!

  • in my town a week rider is 15 quid for a week not 2.80 quid! how times have changed and storage heaters the most cheapest way to heat a home? now electric is so dear you have to go cold in winter cos ur to scared to put them on!

amazing how many people are profiting off poor peoples wages

  • 100% meat in dog food? now its something like 3 or 4% in the leading brands!!

  • OMG I am a bus driver and the weekly ticket back then is less cost then a day rider!! A day rider round here cos £3.70 and a weekly ticket is bloody £16.00!!

  • lol MR DOG

  • wow cream eggs used to be well bigger

  • Those Creme Eggs look huge too

  • "Even if your bus fare is as little as 30p" - hah, I wish! They've increased by almost 700% since then!

  • excellent stuff,my pooch would enjoy mr dog!!

  • bit jumpy at end

  • omg!!! up to fifty percent off carpets!!!!!!

  • haha its so dramatic!

  • well that was exceedingly pleasureable

  • That 'Solmin' logo looks like the 'Dispirin' logo. 'Dispirin' are soluble tablets taken to ease headaches and sick stomachs. I remember that they had a nice fizzy taste.

  • the adverts where done with such originality and simplicity back then. wot happened? :(

pretty much like everything these days, goes down hill lol

  • They went repetitive and rubbish. There are some good ads these days but I can't think of one current ad that would compare to the 80s classics.

  • How about the NETTO ADS

  • great ads thanks for uploading

  • £2.80 for a week bus pass is very cheap.

  • check out this site for all UK TV adverts

    advertlibrary dot com

  • do you reckon the guy who wrote the dairy milk song wanted to be in Pink Floyd.. very Wallesque... in a feeble kinda way

  • Is it just me or is the music in the All-Bran ad a cheap sounding version of the Jacksons' "Can You Feel It"?

  • Is it just me or is anyone else laffin at the thought of two young scrumpers after Mr Kiplings bramleys..

  • "So tempting, its a good thing they don't grow on trees!" Yes, I've always had my doubts about that Mr Kipling. The police should confiscate his computer and examine the hard drive.

  • Lol! Him and Captain Birds Eye too!

  • "It tastes all wiggly!", the young lad observed, and at this point I felt it prudent to zip up my trousers.

  • What are Solmin headache tablets?? never heard of them

  • They were taken off the market after it was shown that they dissolved your teeth and gave you brain tumors.

  • Dissolved your teeth and gave you brain tumors?

    Oh God!!!

  • headache tablets :)

  • I'm a pharmacist and I've never heard of them either. I'm guessing they're an obsolete brand of dispersible aspirin 300mg.

  • wow thigs wer cheap then. and mr dog lmao

"The cream egg ad comes from the late seventies. I know this as I've seen a clip elsewhere on the net of a version of that ad (with that same bit) in a 1979 LWT junction. Interesting how it still fits in an early '85 ad break, with only one or two details looking out of date."

I think the ad dates from 1981. But whenever it was, it still fits. This is because once the 70s got rid of the left-over 60s fashions, like flares and big collars, clothing settled down a bit.

  • £5 discount!!! Wow, what a SALE!!!! Thanks Allied Carpets!!lol

  • When I was a wee nipper, that Dairy Milk one was pretty scary!

  • Wow in 1985 a weekly bus pass was £2.80, now its £12.50 O-O

  • all bran tasted like cardboard then, and it still does now

  • Christopher Timothy had ben eating Mr Dog!

  • woh, those creme eggs are the size of the world, I never saw one though, I was born in'93

  • They were exactly the same size then as they are now (I was born in 1971 and I've eaten a few!).

  • crunchy nut is much better!

  • The "Balance of Heating" was changing alright. From a national asset in 85 to 2007- a bunch of non-uk rip off merchants doing their bit to get rich while the world boils!

  • i was born way after 80's but i luv watching the old adverts :)

  • Am I too late for the Allied sale?

  • I think they'll be having another one soon!

  • Looks like Allied Carpets had a tight budget for their ad - all still photos, no moving images at all!

  • I remember Solim headache tablets in that little plastic tube. I remember the Bus Pass advert and it changed the date on the bus pass to coincide with the week it was shown so this set of adverts was clearly from January 1985.

  • Thanks for the dating of this clip.

  • that cream egg ad scared me as a tot

  • Notice the flared collars on the guy's shirt near the end?

  • The cream egg ad comes from the late seventies. I know this as I've seen a clip elsewhere on the net of a version of that ad (with that same bit) in a 1979 LWT junction. Interesting how it still fits in an early '85 ad break, with only one or two details looking out of date.

  • Interesting to see Economy 7 heating being promoted. I lived in a flat with E7 heating for years, a dreadful idea! It heats up a huge brick inside overnight, so you have to ask yourself "do I want the heating on TOMORROW?" If you guess the weather wrong then you either freeze or boil...

  • Which is probably why it became Cesar.

This could be from quite early in 1985, actually.

  • Well, you could be right (you are an expert in dating things, after all!). I might have misread the UK Nova description of when in 1985 did these ads come from.

  • The All-Bran ad is from 1984

  • Thanks. Definately being used until early '85 here.

  • Mr. Dog is the stupidest name for a dog food ever.

  • I like the announcers voices. They sound vintage (for want of a better word!) That Mr Kipling ad was good too
