Bleck! I'm a HUGE fan of Blackmore's Night, but this is NOT a good cover. It lacks the soul, feeling, and depth of the original. It seems very wrote. They're simply making noise, in my opinion. Thanks for the upload, but the performance gets a big ol' thumbs down.
I think you need to hear the actual album version {including the intro which has been left off here}, but without this 'faked' clip. The music would then be able to speak for itself...

So many people are critical of Ritchie following his current musical direction. Not much a folk group in like Blackmore's Night.
But DP dit make some classical orientated musix in the late 60ties.
Songs like April and Anthem for instance.
But not folk music like Ritchie plays now.

Amazing how many closed-minded people there are here, with all this crap about Ritchie being 'brainwashed' or 'controlled' by Candice. They have been together since 1989, she co-wrote several songs for the "Stranger in Us All" album, and Ritchie himself has said he is now making the music he always wanted to {and he still cuts loose with the 'Rock' on their albums}. Heck, did no one else notice those 'Mediaeval stylings' back in the Deep Purple / Rainbow days?!

Bleck! I'm a HUGE fan of Blackmore's Night, but this is NOT a good cover. It lacks the soul, feeling, and depth of the original. It seems very wrote. They're simply making noise, in my opinion. Thanks for the upload, but the performance gets a big ol' thumbs down.

During Rainbow/Purple'age, Blackmore never would play in programs like it. He is loving your blondie (maybe the only women that passion) and forgot heavy rock. Sad, but true.

Obviously his new wife Cnadice, lead singer with this mob, has brainwashed him, cant blame him for that as she looks kinda hot and if I was in my sixties and had the sniff of a pretty gal 30 years my junior, I'd be happy to smurf it up too. So many people are critical of Ritchie following his current musical direction. He has nothing whatsoever to prove with rock music , having recorded plenty of iconic tracks, so why shouldn't he play this style? I think he is just laughing in the face of his critics a lot of the time but they don't get his humour. Of course he can mime in sync, he may just be playing up in front of the camera here.

OK... Been mad at Ritchie for a long time, for unimportant reasons. Always thought he was pretty good though, so lately, been trying to 'rediscover' some of what made us love DP so much back in the garage band days. Give him 'another listen' so-to-speak. Having said that... I sincerely hope he is happy in this life, and good luck to him. Because THIS... this is shockingly bad.

He never was able to playback well. Check out the official videoclip for 'Gates of Babylon' by Ritchies band with Dio called Rainbow. The solo is TOTALLY out of sync :)
