It DOES include the "same" Wall album, but with 5 MORE discs as well as the marbles/scarves/book etc etc, mines been ordered since last September along with the other Immmersion sets... I Can't wait till the end of the month !! I love all these whypinkfloyd clips, who cares about marketing, they would sell to GENUINE fans anyway !!
Wouldn't sur[rise me at all if this long time feud was a ploy, and a brilliant coming back together for Waters and David. In terms of albums, and touring. I strongly suspect that The Wall concert will be better than normal, and I think David will likely show up in New York! Any way to tell beforehand? : )
is about not revolting against "the man", its don't give up on your youthful dreams is what The Wall means to me. i'm truly ignorant to what you all think ,but this is what it means to me
@bonghitbrianws You know, that is a pretty good point of view. Like my father said to me once, one of the most intresting concepts from "tearing down the wall" is to be better on the outside than you were on the inside...
Ohhh Pink Floyd , what can i possibly say ? The greatest band of all time. Their shows didnt need barely any lighting and their music was pure heaven.
I don't care what people say, even if you're a 'Pink Floyd original' This is very clever, and makes me feel proud to own this on vinyl. From a wee 15 year old laddy
@jeffmuknaw Yeah, seriously, i just picked "The Wall" album to hear now, i dont remember listening to this song on Echoes, that is the only album i listened for full until now.
I wouldn't mind these Immersion editions if they actually filled with good content rather than cheap collectables and Blurays of stuff they put on the DVDs. There should be the original version of the Wall (before they edited Empty Spaces and Run like Hell), and whatever other material they recorded. earlier takes, rejected songs, actual MUSIC. If you take away all the fancy shmancy stuff you can have a much cheaper set that is contains much more content to enjoy.
I bought the Immersion edition of DSOM and it is utterly worthless. Some crappy paper coasters and a polyester scarf with books that mean nothing and cd's that were terribly scratched because they were put in the bottom of the box. The Floyd is a bunch of commercial marketers with their ideas Obscured By Clouds.
If you've already got a copy of The Wall whether it be CD,Mp3,casette,vinyl its ALL you need. All of this CRAP is designed for hipsters with money to burn.
@FilmsThatAreSucky I want a oak box with the poster, 27 x 36, and also marbles! The marbles can be one inside the other like the album cover! Oh, and Gigi!
@FilmsThatAreSucky Yes i do enjoy that, can't believe you're even watching this vid, a true floydian would admire the whole process since the beginning and how it became into DSOTM and The Wall
@FilmsThatAreSucky your'e just making absurd exaggerations. Ummagumma featured each of the four members' solo recordings...it starts off with Richard Wright's "Sysyphus" which i'm not obsessed with, but i still enjoy it.
then comes Roger Water's part with "Grantchester Meadows" which is a very good song. Several Species isn't a song, just experimentation
David Gilmour's "The Narrow Way" is very enjoyable to me, its not random guitar plinking at all, its an actual song. Mason's part is alright
@FilmsThatAreSucky Some people don't like the studio album. I understand. But that record has had such an impact in my musical tastes... I love it a lot. Specially the live record. Just imagine if they release the whole live performance! The studio album had Grandchester Meadows, which is a great tune by Waters... Ummagumma for Immersion!
@alakurt You've got a point there. Though I really thought/think (deep in the recesses of my mind) that the Floyd has something buried deep in the message of the DB, and the Wall. Really, I do. That message is Enlightenment. Its there, really. The Wall is that barrier we must destroy. the DB is that puzzle of life leading to Enlightenment. Its there. However, you're right, a marketing scheme. But PF have enlightened me. All that matters. After 111111, just disappointed. Could've done something.
@PubliusEnigma111111 Thanks, feel bad about my mocking tone now! I too have mixed emotions about this re-re-re-release - The Wall was a significant album for me in my youth but...
-This surge in interest may mean new listeners get to hear this album and it may become as significant for them as it has for us
Pink Floyd can do what the hell they want given the pleasure they have given me over the years ... and as you allude to
-I think the music will outlast the ads, the webclips and hyperbole
@robwhite727 Indeed, it's exact same The Wall, only with remixed audio (If you often hear Floyd on MP3 then you will understand why is it so important), the remastered Earls Court live version (The original Is There Anybody Out There has awful quality), the entire The Wall studio demo and a bunch of other extras, including restored footage of the 80's tour.
@robwhite727 However the Immersion box set comes with the live version, and unreleased takes of songs. And marbles. I'm only buying the Immersion box sets. I don't need the remasters, since I already have the 1994 CD remasters.
Can't think of anything more deserving of strong marketing and advertising than great music. Some people need to really get over themselves. There is nothing wrong with success. Everyone is pissed off that music sucks now and then when great music is put out in visibility you want to cry. Who's Pink Floyd's victims? Nobody. If you want to be pissed off at something go protest against the military industrial complex or the federal reserve or your politicians who are taking your rights away.
To repeat, because it's horrible to think that people see this and somehow go away with the impression that 'The Floyd' has somehow 'gone wrong'... this is EMI marketing bollocks, exactly the sort of thing that Pink Floyd criticise in their music. Just because those dickheads are using Pink Floyd's name, doesn't mean that the band contribute in any way shape or form. And you might say: ah, but they get money from it regardless - but do you know what they do with that money? No, so fuck off.
i bet the guys didn't have shit to do with this . but i want to hate it but i don't mind all this advertising anymore . just when i hear a song from animals , it makes me wanna go write a comment about how they , ehh fuck it .
You guys have to remember that The Wall is owned by Roger Waters now. To those who say that this (The Wall, the marketing) isn't Pink Floyd anymore, it wasn't since Roger Waters left. David Gilmour and the rest of the band after Waters left never went to such lengths as these.
@slickspades57 No he doesn't own "The Wall" that's why he sued the band back in the late 80's for the rights to the band name "Pink Floyd" and the rights to "Pink Floyd's music. Since he abandoned the band all right's was given to the current band members.
Oh come on! Its a bit of fun to promote the new releases! It gets the younger generation (including myself) in the know about of Pink Floyd and the life long fans have releases that have never been released before! Lighten up will you's! Its a great video, and obviously alot of work has gone into it! I love it!
The cost is disproportionate to the material so they've been fleshed out with cheap nasty, inaccurate, misplaced and lacklustre accoutrements in a pathetic attempt at alluding to value.
These releases aren't for diehard fans who have followed the band since the 60's and 70's. They're designed for wealthy casual Floyd listeners and if you are one you'll like them.
My loyalty is horribly misplaced but this is Pink Floyd and you gotta love them.
Everybody... think about it. They arent saying "HEY! Everybody buy are shit now or else". Yes this is a marketing campaign, but #1 it's pretty cool and unique and #2 it's a very good social commentary, which is exactly what the wall has become. There is no product, no prices, and no direct relation to any sort of commercial trade. The Floyd have enough money and they know it. I highly doubt thats what they are after here.
Why are people complaining about Pink Floyd using marketing to keep the message alive? It is a necessary evil to keep that message from being drowned out by the rubbish being written today.
aside from what we fans consider PF to be,it's still the brand name of a product, and it needs to be advertised in order to sell. i don't think it delutes the way the music touched me over the years to have it brought to the attention of a new generation of music lovers through slick ads. PF can be a mind opening experience for young people but it has to be made attractive to them, if not, alot of them may consider it uncool old people music and ignore it. anyway,my old LPs still sound great!!
Its a good spot, Anywhere fuck off the comentaries all sai, I will buy the Inmmersion Box set, Pink Floyd music are still good!!! and this is bussiness, because the record producer EMI wants more money and the rights for this of "Pink Floyd Music Publishing Limited" are BUSSINESS and the bandmemebers had legal actions because are still going in a bussiness music for won money and with this Roger Waters is benefied for the tour, the box set and the disc.
Pink Floyd are still Pink Floyd. They always put out excellent, quality material; they are still the beat musicians around; they bandmembers are still huge in charities; Roger still loves to get his opinion wedged in and put out. Come on you guys. WTF?
I didn't get an advert. or anything. Besides, they are just trying to inform people of their product. For fuck's sake people should've expected these to be so expensive because there is so much.
Can you hippies stfu. So what if this is marketing? That's how a business works. I know you people like to think business is solely evil and terrible, but business keeps the world flowing. So enjoy their music and stop bitching about their advertising. You chose to click this link.
for everyone complaining about the re-issues dont we want younger generations of floyd fans maybe this is what will help them "discover" or immerse them into all of this wonderful music !!!! You dont have to buy it just be glad they are still relevant 45 years after their first album dropped !!!!!! FLOYD FOREVER !!!!!!
whats this bullshit about all these people saying all this crap about them not being what they used to be.get over it.thats what they are now and thats what they want. ur not a true fan if u dont support what they do.stop complaining about it
Oh yes it is Pink Floyd, they were the ones who endorsed the re-release of their material and how much money have you donated to charity latey? The product is awsome but save your money if you like it's your choice.
@soopawhoops Yep, the first commercials were all woah, nice for me. But the whole SOPA PIPA ACTA shit has done it for me, no more excitement from EMI. Ever.
The question should be: "Why, Pink Floyd?" As in, why do you keep repackaging all this crap for too much money? Don't you have enough cash already...? ;-)
@vrooomuk The question should be, Why do you call Pink Floyd crap? Also, the bonus features some unreleased songs and demos. I think it's pretty cool having that.
@MrKoiking1 When a band exploits its back catalogue as much as Pink Floyd, there are no rules. Repackage, remarker, re-sell... It is a cynical exercise and one that the fans should avoid. But if you want to see what the products look like, visit my excellent YouTube channel! ;-)
@vrooomuk i suppose, but 'pink floyd' itself does not do this. it's the record company. they don't say when it's time to put the album up for sale for the 6th time to scrape the barrel.
@MrKoiking1 If that's what you believe, fine. You are wrong though because the band says: "Yes". They are not the innocent party. They just want your lovely cash...
and here comes the Storm... adverts. ye think something is coming? yes, an advertising scheme for more product. sad for those who thought the Floyd had so much more to say... the day is gone. all of you with the Money (the root of all EVIL today) to buy this materialist nonsense, go ahead. there are other things (such as food, clothing and shelter) that others need - do not forget your obligations to your fellow human beings before buying material. That is what Floyd USED to KNOW. They forgot.
Hey, here's an idea: if you don't want them, then don't buy them! These box sets are for a select number of fans who are willing to pay for them. I'm not one of those, I'm more than happy with the studio albums. Everyone has a choice, so stop whining.
@PubliusEnigma111111 You are not obliged to buy this. This kind of products are not bad, specially for people that never had the chance to buy this kind of "collections" because they are too young or never had the chance.
Like I said you don't want? Don't buy it, plain simple.
Yeah I don't "sympathise" with this kind of commercials, I think is not what Pink Floyd is about, but don't go around talking nonsenses.
@CallSignRaven Don't be too harsh. I know that David Gilmour and PF have given immensely to charity and are very good people. Its simply sad to see such commercialization - I thought 11/11/11 would bring something truly positive from the Floyd, revolving around the Enlightenment of the Enigma, not selling more music. Maybe something better is to come? Maybe I am being impatient. Mr Gilmour is a stand up guy, and yes, I have a life, but I will shut my mouth, as I may be wrong.
@PubliusEnigma111111 lol you're taking that Publius Enigma thing too serious. That was not even started by Pink Floyd, it was some guy on the EMI that liked puzzles and decided to start this thing to advertise the upcoming album.

aside from what we fans consider PF to be,it's still the brand name of a product, and it needs to be advertised in order to sell. i don't think it delutes the way the music touched me over the years to have it brought to the attention of a new generation of music lovers through slick ads.

Pink Floyd the first in the space!!!

Pink Floyd are still Pink Floyd. They always put out excellent, quality material; they are still the beat musicians around; they bandmembers are still huge in charities; Roger still loves to get his opinion wedged in and put out. Come on you guys. WTF?
Jabasourus 4 weeks ago 7
@Jabasourus yes, you're talking about Pink Floyd and I really agree; but this spot here is not Pink Floyd
soopawhoops 4 weeks ago
I didn't get an advert. or anything. Besides, they are just trying to inform people of their product. For fuck's sake people should've expected these to be so expensive because there is so much.
Jabasourus 4 weeks ago
Can you hippies stfu. So what if this is marketing? That's how a business works. I know you people like to think business is solely evil and terrible, but business keeps the world flowing. So enjoy their music and stop bitching about their advertising. You chose to click this link.

Pink Floyd is doing exactly what they railed against.
Can't you people see the beautiful irony in this ?
It's genius.

Don't you have enough cash already...? ;-)
vrooomuk 4 weeks ago
@vrooomuk The question should be, Why do you call Pink Floyd crap? Also, the bonus features some unreleased songs and demos. I think it's pretty cool having that.

@KanonXD Because I'm trolling in a desperate attempt to get hits to my channel! LOL :-)

MrKoiking1 4 weeks ago
@MrKoiking1 When a band exploits its back catalogue as much as Pink Floyd, there are no rules. Repackage, remarker, re-sell... It is a cynical exercise and one that the fans should avoid. But if you want to see what the products look like, visit my excellent YouTube channel! ;-)
vrooomuk 4 weeks ago
@vrooomuk i suppose, but 'pink floyd' itself does not do this. it's the record company. they don't say when it's time to put the album up for sale for the 6th time to scrape the barrel.
MrKoiking1 4 weeks ago
@MrKoiking1 If that's what you believe, fine. You are wrong though because the band says: "Yes". They are not the innocent party. They just want your lovely cash...

You! Yes you! Stay right here!

and here comes the Storm... adverts. ye think something is coming? yes, an advertising scheme for more product. sad for those who thought the Floyd had so much more to say... the day is gone. all of you with the Money (the root of all EVIL today) to buy this materialist nonsense, go ahead. there are other things (such as food, clothing and shelter) that others need - do not forget your obligations to your fellow human beings before buying material. That is what Floyd USED to KNOW. They forgot.
PubliusEnigma111111 4 weeks ago 45
@PubliusEnigma111111 Dude it's the record companies, cashing in on people who have good taste in music. They're doing it with Hendrix too.
RedWolf3487 4 weeks ago
@PubliusEnigma111111
Hey, here's an idea: if you don't want them, then don't buy them! These box sets are for a select number of fans who are willing to pay for them. I'm not one of those, I'm more than happy with the studio albums. Everyone has a choice, so stop whining.
Pulsar89 4 weeks ago 2
@PubliusEnigma111111 You are not obliged to buy this. This kind of products are not bad, specially for people that never had the chance to buy this kind of "collections" because they are too young or never had the chance.
Like I said you don't want? Don't buy it, plain simple.
Yeah I don't "sympathise" with this kind of commercials, I think is not what Pink Floyd is about, but don't go around talking nonsenses.
CallSignRaven 4 weeks ago 5
@PubliusEnigma111111 (couldn't fit everything in one post)
Pink Floyd, and specially Mr David Gilmour, gave more money to charity than you ever you will, so shut your mouth and get a life.
CallSignRaven 4 weeks ago 5
@CallSignRaven Don't be too harsh. I know that David Gilmour and PF have given immensely to charity and are very good people. Its simply sad to see such commercialization - I thought 11/11/11 would bring something truly positive from the Floyd, revolving around the Enlightenment of the Enigma, not selling more music. Maybe something better is to come? Maybe I am being impatient. Mr Gilmour is a stand up guy, and yes, I have a life, but I will shut my mouth, as I may be wrong.
PubliusEnigma111111 4 weeks ago
@PubliusEnigma111111 lol you're taking that Publius Enigma thing too serious. That was not even started by Pink Floyd, it was some guy on the EMI that liked puzzles and decided to start this thing to advertise the upcoming album.
CallSignRaven 3 weeks ago
@PubliusEnigma111111 Calm down. It's only a bloody CD.
Nik0ran 4 weeks ago 2
