who came 1st? BA is wearing SRV's shirt and using his strap, and playing all his licks. At first i thought the 1st guitarist WAS SRV with bad lighting. help me out!
I see a few mentioning a competition or cutting heads kind of thing, I agree with those who shoot these ideas down. This is not a competition, BA loved and respected stevie immensely, this was probably one of BAs moat fun and profound memories.
sounds more to me like the young lad tipping the hat to stevie rather than a face off - all the licks he came out with were already note-for-note stevies/alberts anyways. both are excellent players, awesome clip, really enjoyed.
@lonesomejob true, but it puts the whole 'tone quest' arqument into perspective. don't get me wrong, i saw a clip of stevie playing a gibson-v unplugged and you could tell from that alone that he could have plugged it inot a pignose and it'd 'sound like stevie'. still, great clip.
Wow that's wild!..Bernard was young then haha..his dad is a legend!..Stevie had to show him a thing or two about his licks tho haha!..man that must of been an opportunity of a lifetime
@ecmfreestyle I don't know about SRV show him a thing or two . Sounds like to me he was on SRV's behind at 21 years of age . That's what it sounds like to me and to this very day Bernard doesn't get his just due . Look at the rest of these vids . Someone else posted them . Bernard held his own .
@theguitarczar u mean bernard learned from stevie and albert. Stevie is about 11 years older and damn near mastered his style before bernard could even pick up a guitar
yeah thats me my father and cousin,,i strung up both sqires that nite,,,

I wouldn't say those notes belong to Albert King either. More like they were mostly machine gunned together by SRV. SRV's still solid though.

SRV is playing a squire in this video which just goes to prove it's the player not the guitar

@alphadogstudio True, but Squires were amazing guitars around this time. Jeff Healey's strat was a Squier.

Got a 1984 maple neck Squier Strat, better than many USA made Fenders.
But...the real sound and tone is in player's fingers, heart and soul.

stevie was too low,, bernard hogged all the volume and tone,, but stevie still was stevie, as usual,,, even though the sound guys were high,,
