if we could afford to buy bmw's we wouldnt be in a ford, Nice to see Ford doing a steerling job of keeping up with the sherman tank, not bad for a shopping cart, with bent crow bars for pistons
The person in the focus thinks he's racing while the bmw driver is probably gently pressing the '+' button on cruise control. And, even if he was giving full throttle, a difference of 19hp and 50nm should be much bigger considering the bmw is heavier, especially on highway.
BMW is not only for high speed driving :). and specially 320d :). Ford may be faster, but how you will feel after 4-5 hours of driving with high speed on Ford and BMW :).
Focus is a good car for the money, but cannot compare it with BMW - quality, materials, engineering.. Everything is better in BMW. Ford is better only in service costs :)).. way better.
@naraithsil US factory line??, get your facts right... this focus was built under Ford's European division, America got a different version of the focus.
@RSROBXR2 Ford is a US company, therefore US factory line - I don;t care where exactly the cars are built. BMW build in different places around the world too, but I still treat their cars as German. What didn't you understand?
Ford has two divisions... Ford of Europe and Ford of U.S, same company name but everything else is different... management, design, manufacturing, EVERYTHING is different to the U.S side of ford.
So how can it be "U.S factory line" when they're designed and built in Europe on a European production line.
Your original comment was "German precision vs U.S factory line"... what it should have been was "German precision vs German precision".
@RSROBXR2 Are you thick? The U.S factory line "stack them high sell them cheap" model was what I was getting at. Ford GLOBALLY go for affordability so that they can sell more cars. By doing so they have lower prices than BMW but at a cost of quality of engineering and class. If Ford Mondeo cars were designed by BMW and the production of them was overseen by BMW also, the cars would be worth MUCH more money and have a lot more quality associated with their name.
@naraithsil So... that has nothing to do with what I was saying, all I was trying to say was: this focus was designed.. and as far as I know built by Germans, so therefore has nothing to do with the U.S.
basically you're just contradicting yourself each time you reply to me, so just leave it at that friendly youtuber and let's get on with our live's eh? peace.
@RSROBXR2 Well, I'll allow you to sidestep my originally intended point entirely if you want, but you clearly still don't have a clue what I was trying to get across. Laters, "friendly youtuber".
@naraithsil I can't stand this "Fords as good as BMW" I worked for a rental company and no way are EU Focuses on par with BMW's. Have you ever been inside a Focus? Talk about square, and ill fitting. If they want to be BMW they need to start with quality. They need to get rid of the gaps on the ends of the dashboard, they need to galvaise the bodies against rust, they need to close up panel gaps, they need to put gas pistons under the bonnet instead of old bent shoddy crow-bars...
@naraithsil This particular Focus was designed and built in Cologne, Germany but that does that mean its any good? Were German Tribants any good? No. Ford is an American company not a German company and I know what you are getting at. Ford slap a load of chrome and tinted windows on it and they think its quality. Er... No. Quality isn't how a Ford is made. Quality is sound proofing, rust proofing, solid interior, closed panel gaps etc etc. Not rattly, noisy old shopping cart like a Focus is.
A puszta számok is mutatják: BMW 163 lóerő, míg a Ford 134.
Most komolyan?
I mean neither of you would gain a clear advantage over the other. You would when you get to around 125mph, the beamer will keep on going whilst the focus will start to linger back a bit
er..... No its not as much as 125! I came along side a twat in a black vectra CDTi 150 last week trying to thrash me out but he started lingering back at over 100Mph. Ive raced other TD sport cars i.e 130/136/150 many many many times and its usually around 100Mph is where you start giving them the slip
look mate, I can totally guarantee it! If you had my Stock Leon 150TDi & you up-shift after 3,500 you will give all those 320Nm 130/136 sport TD's the slip everytime after 100Mph! If it takes you 125Mph to pass another 130/136 then you seriously need to learn how to drive a T/Diesel
The focus has 136hp, the beamer, dependent on how new it is, either has 163BHP or 17BHP. My dad has the focus, and it generates the same torque as the beamer, you wouldn't notice much difference if you were both flat out at 60mph
y ke me kieres decir con eso? en mi primera respuesta dije que el focus no tiene nada que acer, ke alomejor lo sigue un poco por el rebufo pero que se olvide ke le da palante igual y sin rebufo ni te cuento
It actually isn't at all uncommon for the 2.0 TDCI Focus to actually dyno STOCK at upto 155bhp. Mine dynoed at 146bhp when it was stocked, before I got it mapped. And before you say the dyno was out, it wasn't - my mate's Golf was dynoed spot-on. And the stock torque for the Focus is 251lb/ft of torque.
Its 136bhp and its 320NMs of torque, 236Ib/ft. The fact that your ''stock'' ford focus had 146bhp is not true my friend. The cars are properly dyno tested with very expensive industrial factory equipment before they have an approval stamp given to them before they go onto a transport lorry to be exported
The Ford factory dyno equipment is caliberated and certified properly by an engineer before-hand and is more expensive and far more accurate than laptop dyno software. They have to be, as this will interfere with the insurance grouping of the vehicle and would be illegal A car is only allowed to be out of power caliberation by only +3Bhp not +15 or +20 as you claim it to be!
Yes I agree this isn't meant to happen, but it does. There are well-documented cases of this throughout automotive history! In fact, Top Gear found that one of the Lambos they were testing had nearly 40bhp more than it was meant to! And I've had mine dynoed twice since and it's always been between 144 and 146 bhp. I agree that it shouldn't happen and that the cars are tested before leaving the factory, but the actual fact is that it does.
It does mis-caliberate Im not saying it doesn't but, Different Dynos say different things because they are caliberated differently from eachother depending on how expensive they are or where they are made has an impact on accuracy.
Well, all i can say to you is, Don't drive around thinking all these 2.0TDCis are over-caliberated because im sure Golf TDi/Leon TDi 150's might also be over-caliberated but, you are still gonna look very silly trying to beat a 150 even if yours is supposedly 144-146 Its still not going to work!
Also - the standard Golf and Leon 2.0 TDI engine is 138bhp (not the 170bhp found in the GTI versions) with identical torque to the Focus. In fact, they don't have overboost, so the Focus should marginally nip them with 15lb/ft more torque from lower in the rev range.
In theory it should, but, the Truth is realistically you won't get past them with flying colours mate. The overboost at 15Ib/ft extra will not offer enough sufficient power to perform an easy overtaking manouvre especially if the TDI has its boot down. You won't outdo a 150 or a 170 with it. Mine is not 138 its 150. I really don't think you know an awful lot about VAG
I'm not saying I'll get past them, I'm pointing out that the PSA engine you think is so "shitty" is actually bang on the money when compared with it's equivalent 2.0 TDI VAG engine, if a tad faster. The only other 2.0 TDI VAG offer is a 170bhp one which is relatively new. Please link to where your 150bhp VAG lump is as there is no mention of it on the VW or Seat site, or Parkers. Just two - a 138bhp and 170bhp, of which the 138bhp is now very dated - much more so than the 2.0 TDCI.
I don't know about VAG!? You're talking about the old 8 valve 1.9 TDI engine, not the a 2.0 TDI! That's a very old, PD 8 valve, SOHC engine. The new 2.0 TDI and TDCIs are common rail, 16 valve, DOHC engines. There's no comparison. I had a Golf with the 1.9 TDI in it (the 130bhp one) and it was rattly, gruff and put down its torque very badly compared to the newer 2.0 engines. In fact, your 150bhp 1.9 has identical torque to my 2.0 TDCI, worst refinement and only half a second better 0-60!
Pumpe Düse is NOT common rail! There is Common Rail Injection and then there is Pumpe Düse Injection where the injector pump and injector nozzle are combined, and not multiple nozzles coming off one "rail" as in Common Rail. The 150 is SOHC, and you can look it up on Wikipedia (as I've just done) if you're not convinced. My Golf was NOT common rail and you don't make a 2.0 engine by adding valves - it's about the bore of the engine. I never said it was multipoint as that's totally irrelevant.
I'd also have a quick Google of "Pump Duse Common Rail" if I were you and notice all the the PD vs CR threads and the differences in the two technologies.
listen mate I really can't be bothered to argue all night long on TDi's becuase your head is full of so much shit and there is no changing your mind. TDCi is a pile of shit, Mine is unmistakably faster than that piece of french engined shit called a Focus TDCi so even though mine is an 8V DOHC 150 it still murders the 16V DOHC TDCi and you know why? mine has more fucking Bhp and is more fuel efficient, thats why!
Anyone with half a brain also knows that BHP has no relation to power. BHP divided by weight is a better indication. And as the TDCI has a much better 0-60 time for it's BHP and weight than your old PD engine, that means the TDCI is also more efficient too. It's simple mechanics mate, that you seem to twist to your own liking. Anyway, I couldn't care - I defy anyone to want an old PD Seat Leon over a new 2.0 TDCI Focus!
you are in that mindframe that because its common-rail, 16Valve, 251IB with an overboost Its automatically BIGGER BETTER & FASTER than an FR TDI and YOU CAN BEAT THEM ALL EASILY! no its not and no you don't beat FR TDis. Mine still does over 50 to the gallon and goes faster than your focus so how is the focus TDCi more efficient?
Look, I really can't be bothered with this. I've seen from other videos, you'll proclaim your old Leon is better than most modern cars. The Focus is a highly praised hatch and is still considered the best hatch by the motoring press. The Leon, well, isn't. I never said the Focus would whip your super amazing Leon, I said it might be a tad faster in real terms. The Focus is a more expensive car with more modern engines, better suspension, and a highly-praised chassis. The Leon is a cheap Golf.
The Focus is a cheaper car than SEAT. See you don't know anything again! Ford depeciates more than SEAT does its a fact mate! The focus is a cheap faulty little piece of shit Ford that is worse for reliability than anything on the market if you know anything about Ford you wouldn't touch them
The 2.0 TDCI Titanium I have is a £22k car, the new Seat Leon FR 170bhp is an £18k car. I'd much rather have that over my Focus. But your PD Leon? Not so much. Reliability ratings according to Parkers and Autocar are better for the Focus than the Leon and the handling and suspension are MUCH better in the Focus than the Leon. Google it - even people on the SeatCupra site agree. Yes, you have all out speed over the Focus. But the Focus has refinement, quality, reliability and handling.
In fact, having said that - I'd still take the Focus over the newer Leon. If I couldn't have the Ford, I'd have a standard 2.0 TDI Golf before I had the Leon. The Leon has cheap suspension like the Astra and poor damping.
Lol, Fords are such a fucking rippp offfff, give your £22k 2.0TDCi titanium 3 years of depreciation and it will retail at no more than 6 grand!!! Fords will depreciate quicker than SEAT and thats a fact. If you got an 18K FR it will still be standing at 8-9K in 3 years time so I think you have more money than sence!!!
the Focus has better reliability over a Leon? like F*** does it! everytime it rains you are swimming in a fish tank on wheels! because the sealing on them is that crap! The interior build quality on yours is shit, full of plastic fall-offs everywhere like the new Mondeo! and large companies buy new Ford Titaniums in bulk for about 7K each, well done, you just stupidly wasted 22K! Let me know what its worth when you sell it 2nd hand past 3 years, I'll laugh my socks off!
Sorry mate, you are right - I DO want a Seat Leon. All those leaky seals, common rail failures and plastic falling off that I HAVEN'T had are really getting me down. So's the 175bhp I have on tap after my remap today. By the way, it's 3 years old already and I got it for £5k as I know how to haggle. So yeah you're right, I definitely want a cheap imitation Golf rather than a Golf rival.
You must have the ugly looking box-shaped Morris minor fronted Focus then! 5K was the right price for it, the haggle didn't knock it down at all. So how can you have a proclaimed 22K car when its worth 5K? Thats what Fords are only worth! the garage probably couldn't wait to see it off the forecourt and made out they knocked off the price as a favour! well, do enjoy your dull, cloudy but dry sales rep car! you finally realised a re-map is the only thing that makes it slightly exciting!
Oh and as I'm "sooo thick", perhaps YOU should have a read of "Seat Leon" on Wikipedia and when you've established there was never a 2.0 SOHC diesel in that car, perhaps you should read the first Google result for "Pumpe Duse" for the differences between the two technologies. You can't make shit up and call it fact.
Ford never made the engine to go in that focus and had to borrow from Citroen, VW make thier own engines and Ford can't compare anything to that. Commonrail Diesels are the most faulty engines among todays cars with EGR valves and inlet manifolds I will stick with pump duse as it lasts longer and is more reliable even if its a few tiny decibles louder... FACT!
Yes VW make their own engines, Seat DON'T! Seat went to the parts bin of VW. Seat developed NONE of the engines in the Leon, VW (its sister) did. Ford actually co-developed the PSA engine with Peugeot and Citroen and is very highly praised in the press for great reliability, very good refinement and very good in-gear torque. You can stick with your PD, that's fine, I really don't care. In 97k miles, I've had no issues with my 2.0 TDCI and I shall enjoy the overall better car too.
Ford went to the parts bin in Volvo and Peugeot! to fish out the HDi and T-5 engines and all the other shit that Fords made of! The only thing Ford had anything to do with the PSA engine was fucking up the injectors! If its in the press for great reliability then why the fuck are the new Fiesta Econetics and 1.4 TDCi's so much faultier shit than the petrols then?
Ford OWN Volvo!! Ford MADE all the Volvo engines. They made the 5 cylinder that went in the ST but market it under the Volvo brand. Blimey, you really are making this up! Peugeot have had nothing to do with Ford engines aside from co-developing the 2.0 and 2.2 used in the Focus and Mondeo. And it's all irrelevant because you can't refute that the Focus has better suspension, more damping, and much higher quality interior. The only thing I like about the PD is the tunability.
Ford own volvo and thats why Jag went down the pan with depreciation becuase Ford started ramming smokey little 2.2 Transit TDCi engines under the bonnets! You can't argue that the Transit engine isn't found in the Mondeo and X-type Jag
This really is my last post as you clearly believe your car is better than any other! PD engines have EGR valves and inlet manifolds too! Sure, the early Common Rail diesels had problems, but not today's engines. Whether Ford made the engine or whether Bob down the road made the engine is of no odds to me, I only care about the car as an overall thing. The 2.0 TDCI lump is very highly praised and is used in the award-winning new Mondeo and C30. And it was made precisely for the Focus first.
Its not better than any other but its still better than Ford which stands for First On Rubbish Dump! All common-rail diesels get problems mate. They are shit thats why I stuck to Pumpe Duse its more fucking reliable than Rail! For a few tiny decibles of noise which is not even noticable! Ford really know how to make Turd-bo, Diesels!
I don't think mine is better than any other car on the market. You are the one who thinks the best refinement, reliability, and quality only lies within the Blue Oval badge. And thinks the Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo is what all other cars should be. You say the Mondeo is award winning? I want to share a website I discovered about the 2008 Mondeo. I liked it and was considering the possibility of owning one untill I saw a website that completely changed my mind about it.
I don't know why you're so aggressive, I'm only stating what I think. I like the Seat Leon. Would I have one over a Focus? No. Except for the Cupra, of course. Not once did I say the Fiesta and Mondeo were the best in my opinion, but the Mondeo is award-winning. You'll find all manner of sites that will slate a car - there are plenty that slate the Leon, Golf, Focus, Astra, etc. I would much rather have, for example, an A3 but in this league, in my opinion, the Focus is best, then the Golf.
Ford have been well known over decades for producing mixed quality cars in thier current range. They aren't like others who set the same standard on all thier models. Thats why Ford are crap & over-rated. Only Ford can manage to make a bigger more expensive model crapper than the smaller, cheaper one? It was the same story with Escorts. The 1996 Fiesta was more solid and better quality than the 1996 Escort? And yet the Escort cost more?
The Mondeo and Fiesta in the 1996 range were, both more solid cars both chassis and interior build than their sister model, the Escort. And now its gone Vice-versa!? The 2005 shape but facelifted Ford Focus is more reliable and slightly better quality than the 2008 Fiesta and 2008 Mondeo? Ford get it all wrong!!! Why can't they just set a simple standard and just keep it, instead of facelifting things all the time!
I know we won't agree on this :) but they have a fairly normal facelift cycle. The Astra, Golf and even the Leon have had several facelifts since launch as well. You have to move with the market. The Escort was a massively popular car, with the Cosworth still being loved by the motoring press today. There's a reason people like evo, TopGear and Autocar praise Fords so highly and they certainly know more than you or I do about cars. Again, I like the Leon - just to clarify.
The Leons don't have any major facelift changes part from F/R Bumper shapes & Door mirrors and, neither do Ashtrays aka Astras or Fiat Bravas. Ford actually change the whole Front style, sweep the whole body shape and the lines etc. Seat, Vauxhall, Fiat always have interchangable exterior body parts with the previous shape, Ford usually don't with the exeption of Mondeo III and Focus I, You can't interchange change doors, wings, rear lights, etc from most other facelifted Fords.
My father used to own a dark green R-reg Mondeo Ghia-X 2.5 V6 Automatic. He sold it because petrol got very expensive. It was the only car I ever drove, as I had an automatic driving liecence from 18 years old and had to pass my test in a manual car all over again. Some old git didn't see a red light and crashed into him at a set of crossroads.
The damage the old git caused was a write-off but it was still running good, after he got the shitty market value for it which was about £550, he bought it back off the ins company for about £150 and repaired the whole car himself with my uncle. He couldn't interchange any of the body parts from the previous 1992-1995 shape Mondeo! Which made it difficult for him.
After he put it back together and reprayed everything he sold it for £1100 and put another full MOT on it. When he bought the car from a trade dealer, I think he paid about £1600 then 7 months later some colour blind old git misses a red light and he gets a measly £550! But he claimed for leg & head injuries and he got a couple of grand from that about 2 years after.
Actually the facelifts are nothing more than changed panels. You can actually take the new front bumper, bonnet and lights off the new model and stick them on the old. The underlying car is exactly the same so the facelift is no more major than that of the Leon or the Astra's very minimal 08 facelift. Nothing has changed to the chassis at all and there have only been a Mk1 and Mk2 Focus. The current Focus is still based on the Mk2 platform of 2005 with completely interchangeable panels.
No Its not always quite like that with Fords, the wings & doors off a 92-95 Mondeo won't fit a 96-00 Mondeo. The exterior body shape on the 96 is slightly wider and is flared out at the sides.
The only other car my dad could find suitable within 30 miles at the time was a side dented Ford Contour import (Mondeo USA). Even the doors and wings and styling lines on the Ford Contour wouldn't even fit! He only got a matching identical left headlamp, oval grill-piece & bonnet from it. The rear end was different as well, It was like the Scorpio with a red tail-plynthed boot complimenting the rear lights. It looks cooler from behind than our Mondeo! especially with a spoiler & Zetec Alloys!
well, i suppose it is the PSA developed Peugeot/citroen shitty commonrail T/Diesel engine shoved under the Focus so what reliable configuration can you honestly expect? I know French HDi engines are bad, but not quite this bad!
Mate, I don't drive around looking for races - I'm not a twat. I'm just stating what I know about not just this engine but many. The PSA engine is very well regarded and is used in many different cars - the Focus, the new Volvo C30 (where it's highly praised), the Pug and Citroen hatches, etc. I'm not looking for an argument, I'm just stating fact. Also, the engine features "overboost" which takes it to 251lb/ft when you floor it. 236lb/ft is normal driving.
The overboost fucks the cars turbo life up by putting too much pressure on the wastegate and then the over-exhailed air backfires through the turbo the wrong way while the turbo is still forcing air in the opposite direction towards the wastegate. This is the problem with overboost! its fine untill this happens!
And being a member of the FFOC and knowing several mechanics, I've never heard of this overboost problem you speak of. Ever. Diesel engines are more than robust enough to take far more power than they put out, by design. This isn't even a listed problem on the engine notes. The Turbo is a VVT Garrett rated at well over 250bhp so there's no problem with that blowing or the wastegate for that matter. Stop talking out your arse.

ericspekla 1 year ago
@ericspekla - láttam a leírásban, hogy tuningolt Ford, én a 'gyári' Ford adatait írtam le,ami 134 lóerőt ír; +/- 2 lóerő már mindegy ;). Amúgy nem tudom mi ez a bizonyítási vágy a Ford Focus, Mondeo tulajokban a többi autókkal szemben; főleg e prémium kategóriával szemben(BMW, Audi, Mercedes). Most komolyan?
zso8 1 year ago

170BHP* lol
I mean neither of you would gain a clear advantage over the other. You would when you get to around 125mph, the beamer will keep on going whilst the focus will start to linger back a bit
westland2323 2 years ago
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
look mate, I can totally guarantee it! If you had my Stock Leon 150TDi & you up-shift after 3,500 you will give all those 320Nm 130/136 sport TD's the slip everytime after 100Mph! If it takes you 125Mph to pass another 130/136 then you seriously need to learn how to drive a T/Diesel
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
The focus has 136hp, the beamer, dependent on how new it is, either has 163BHP or 17BHP. My dad has the focus, and it generates the same torque as the beamer, you wouldn't notice much difference if you were both flat out at 60mph
westland2323 2 years ago
sorry, i dont understand You!!Where i wouldnt notice difference??

ericspekla 3 years ago
no mate i seriously don't know where you got 152Hp from a 2.0 TDCi focus II the 2.0 TDCi focus II is 136CV
1ns4ne1d10t 3 years ago
i got 170bhp and 300lb.ft torque on my focus mk2 2.0tdci!
danielshaw007 3 years ago
yeh but it isn't stock, stocks 136
1ns4ne1d10t 3 years ago
yeh correct 136bhp 210lb/ft stock!
danielshaw007 3 years ago
236lb/ft actually lol - sorry.
westland2323 2 years ago
It actually isn't at all uncommon for the 2.0 TDCI Focus to actually dyno STOCK at upto 155bhp. Mine dynoed at 146bhp when it was stocked, before I got it mapped. And before you say the dyno was out, it wasn't - my mate's Golf was dynoed spot-on. And the stock torque for the Focus is 251lb/ft of torque.
benweston2002 2 years ago
Its 136bhp and its 320NMs of torque, 236Ib/ft. The fact that your ''stock'' ford focus had 146bhp is not true my friend. The cars are properly dyno tested with very expensive industrial factory equipment before they have an approval stamp given to them before they go onto a transport lorry to be exported
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
The Ford factory dyno equipment is caliberated and certified properly by an engineer before-hand and is more expensive and far more accurate than laptop dyno software. They have to be, as this will interfere with the insurance grouping of the vehicle and would be illegal A car is only allowed to be out of power caliberation by only +3Bhp not +15 or +20 as you claim it to be!
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
Yes I agree this isn't meant to happen, but it does. There are well-documented cases of this throughout automotive history! In fact, Top Gear found that one of the Lambos they were testing had nearly 40bhp more than it was meant to! And I've had mine dynoed twice since and it's always been between 144 and 146 bhp. I agree that it shouldn't happen and that the cars are tested before leaving the factory, but the actual fact is that it does.
benweston2002 2 years ago
It does mis-caliberate Im not saying it doesn't but, Different Dynos say different things because they are caliberated differently from eachother depending on how expensive they are or where they are made has an impact on accuracy.
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
Well, all i can say to you is, Don't drive around thinking all these 2.0TDCis are over-caliberated because im sure Golf TDi/Leon TDi 150's might also be over-caliberated but, you are still gonna look very silly trying to beat a 150 even if yours is supposedly 144-146 Its still not going to work!
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
Also - the standard Golf and Leon 2.0 TDI engine is 138bhp (not the 170bhp found in the GTI versions) with identical torque to the Focus. In fact, they don't have overboost, so the Focus should marginally nip them with 15lb/ft more torque from lower in the rev range.
benweston2002 2 years ago
In theory it should, but, the Truth is realistically you won't get past them with flying colours mate. The overboost at 15Ib/ft extra will not offer enough sufficient power to perform an easy overtaking manouvre especially if the TDI has its boot down. You won't outdo a 150 or a 170 with it. Mine is not 138 its 150. I really don't think you know an awful lot about VAG
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
I'm not saying I'll get past them, I'm pointing out that the PSA engine you think is so "shitty" is actually bang on the money when compared with it's equivalent 2.0 TDI VAG engine, if a tad faster. The only other 2.0 TDI VAG offer is a 170bhp one which is relatively new. Please link to where your 150bhp VAG lump is as there is no mention of it on the VW or Seat site, or Parkers. Just two - a 138bhp and 170bhp, of which the 138bhp is now very dated - much more so than the 2.0 TDCI.
benweston2002 2 years ago
You really don't know anything about VAG at all do you? The 1st generation of 8V TDi engines are 90CV, 110CV, 130CV, 150CV,
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago

I never said it was multipoint as that's totally irrelevant.
benweston2002 2 years ago
You total spastic its a DOHC engine!!!!! your Golf was a 110 it was not a 130! oh my god you are soooo THICK
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
I'd also have a quick Google of "Pump Duse Common Rail" if I were you and notice all the the PD vs CR threads and the differences in the two technologies.
benweston2002 2 years ago
listen mate I really can't be bothered to argue all night long on TDi's becuase your head is full of so much shit and there is no changing your mind.
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
Anyone with half a brain also knows that BHP has no relation to power. BHP divided by weight is a better indication. And as the TDCI has a much better 0-60 time for it's BHP and weight than your old PD engine, that means the TDCI is also more efficient too. It's simple mechanics mate, that you seem to twist to your own liking. Anyway, I couldn't care - I defy anyone to want an old PD Seat Leon over a new 2.0 TDCI Focus!
benweston2002 2 years ago
you are in that mindframe that because its common-rail, 16Valve, 251IB with an overboost Its automatically BIGGER BETTER & FASTER than an FR TDI and YOU CAN BEAT THEM ALL EASILY! no its not and no you don't beat FR TDis. Mine still does over 50 to the gallon and goes faster than your focus so how is the focus TDCi more efficient?
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
Look, I really can't be bothered with this. I've seen from other videos, you'll proclaim your old Leon is better than most modern cars. The Focus is a highly praised hatch and is still considered the best hatch by the motoring press. The Leon, well, isn't. I never said the Focus would whip your super amazing Leon, I said it might be a tad faster in real terms. The Focus is a more expensive car with more modern engines, better suspension, and a highly-praised chassis. The Leon is a cheap Golf.
benweston2002 2 years ago
The Focus is a cheaper car than SEAT. See you don't know anything again! Ford depeciates more than SEAT does its a fact mate! The focus is a cheap faulty little piece of shit Ford that is worse for reliability than anything on the market if you know anything about Ford you wouldn't touch them
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
The 2.0 TDCI Titanium I have is a £22k car, the new Seat Leon FR 170bhp is an £18k car. I'd much rather have that over my Focus. But your PD Leon? Not so much. Reliability ratings according to Parkers and Autocar are better for the Focus than the Leon and the handling and suspension are MUCH better in the Focus than the Leon. Google it - even people on the SeatCupra site agree. Yes, you have all out speed over the Focus. But the Focus has refinement, quality, reliability and handling.
benweston2002 2 years ago
In fact, having said that - I'd still take the Focus over the newer Leon. If I couldn't have the Ford, I'd have a standard 2.0 TDI Golf before I had the Leon. The Leon has cheap suspension like the Astra and poor damping.
benweston2002 2 years ago
Lol, Fords are such a fucking rippp offfff, give your £22k 2.0TDCi titanium 3 years of depreciation and it will retail at no more than 6 grand!!! Fords will depreciate quicker than SEAT and thats a fact. If you got an 18K FR it will still be standing at 8-9K in 3 years time so I think you have more money than sence!!!
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
the Focus has better reliability over a Leon? like F*** does it! everytime it rains you are swimming in a fish tank on wheels! because the sealing on them is that crap!
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
Sorry mate, you are right - I DO want a Seat Leon. All those leaky seals, common rail failures and plastic falling off that I HAVEN'T had are really getting me down. So's the 175bhp I have on tap after my remap today. By the way, it's 3 years old already and I got it for £5k as I know how to haggle. So yeah you're right, I definitely want a cheap imitation Golf rather than a Golf rival.
benweston2002 2 years ago
You must have the ugly looking box-shaped Morris minor fronted Focus then! 5K was the right price for it, the haggle didn't knock it down at all. So how can you have a proclaimed 22K car when its worth 5K? Thats what Fords are only worth! the garage probably couldn't wait to see it off the forecourt and made out they knocked off the price as a favour! well, do enjoy your dull, cloudy but dry sales rep car! you finally realised a re-map is the only thing that makes it slightly exciting!
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
Oh and as I'm "sooo thick", perhaps YOU should have a read of "Seat Leon" on Wikipedia and when you've established there was never a 2.0 SOHC diesel in that car, perhaps you should read the first Google result for "Pumpe Duse" for the differences between the two technologies. You can't make shit up and call it fact.
benweston2002 2 years ago
Ford never made the engine to go in that focus and had to borrow from Citroen, VW make thier own engines and Ford can't compare anything to that. Commonrail Diesels are the most faulty engines among todays cars with EGR valves and inlet manifolds I will stick with pump duse as it lasts longer and is more reliable even if its a few tiny decibles louder... FACT!
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
Yes VW make their own engines, Seat DON'T! Seat went to the parts bin of VW. Seat developed NONE of the engines in the Leon, VW (its sister) did. Ford actually co-developed the PSA engine with Peugeot and Citroen and is very highly praised in the press for great reliability, very good refinement and very good in-gear torque. You can stick with your PD, that's fine, I really don't care. In 97k miles, I've had no issues with my 2.0 TDCI and I shall enjoy the overall better car too.
benweston2002 2 years ago
Ford went to the parts bin in Volvo and Peugeot! to fish out the HDi and T-5 engines and all the other shit that Fords made of! The only thing Ford had anything to do with the PSA engine was fucking up the injectors! If its in the press for great reliability then why the fuck are the new Fiesta Econetics and 1.4 TDCi's so much faultier shit than the petrols then?
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
Ford OWN Volvo!! Ford MADE all the Volvo engines. They made the 5 cylinder that went in the ST but market it under the Volvo brand. Blimey, you really are making this up! Peugeot have had nothing to do with Ford engines aside from co-developing the 2.0 and 2.2 used in the Focus and Mondeo. And it's all irrelevant because you can't refute that the Focus has better suspension, more damping, and much higher quality interior. The only thing I like about the PD is the tunability.
benweston2002 2 years ago
Ford own volvo and thats why Jag went down the pan with depreciation becuase Ford started ramming smokey little 2.2 Transit TDCi engines under the bonnets! You can't argue that the Transit engine isn't found in the Mondeo and X-type Jag
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
This really is my last post as you clearly believe your car is better than any other! PD engines have EGR valves and inlet manifolds too! Sure, the early Common Rail diesels had problems, but not today's engines. Whether Ford made the engine or whether Bob down the road made the engine is of no odds to me, I only care about the car as an overall thing. The 2.0 TDCI lump is very highly praised and is used in the award-winning new Mondeo and C30. And it was made precisely for the Focus first.
benweston2002 2 years ago
Its not better than any other but its still better than Ford which stands for First On Rubbish Dump! All common-rail diesels get problems mate. They are shit thats why I stuck to Pumpe Duse its more fucking reliable than Rail! For a few tiny decibles of noise which is not even noticable! Ford really know how to make Turd-bo, Diesels!
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
I don't think mine is better than any other car on the market. You are the one who thinks the best refinement, reliability, and quality only lies within the Blue Oval badge. And thinks the Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo is what all other cars should be. You say the Mondeo is award winning? I want to share a website I discovered about the 2008 Mondeo. I liked it and was considering the possibility of owning one untill I saw a website that completely changed my mind about it.
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
I don't know why you're so aggressive, I'm only stating what I think. I like the Seat Leon. Would I have one over a Focus? No. Except for the Cupra, of course. Not once did I say the Fiesta and Mondeo were the best in my opinion, but the Mondeo is award-winning. You'll find all manner of sites that will slate a car - there are plenty that slate the Leon, Golf, Focus, Astra, etc. I would much rather have, for example, an A3 but in this league, in my opinion, the Focus is best, then the Golf.
benweston2002 2 years ago
Ford have been well known over decades for producing mixed quality cars in thier current range. They aren't like others who set the same standard on all thier models. Thats why Ford are crap & over-rated. Only Ford can manage to make a bigger more expensive model crapper than the smaller, cheaper one? It was the same story with Escorts. The 1996 Fiesta was more solid and better quality than the 1996 Escort? And yet the Escort cost more?
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
The Mondeo and Fiesta in the 1996 range were, both more solid cars both chassis and interior build than their sister model, the Escort. And now its gone Vice-versa!? The 2005 shape but facelifted Ford Focus is more reliable and slightly better quality than the 2008 Fiesta and 2008 Mondeo? Ford get it all wrong!!! Why can't they just set a simple standard and just keep it, instead of facelifting things all the time!
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
I know we won't agree on this :) but they have a fairly normal facelift cycle. The Astra, Golf and even the Leon have had several facelifts since launch as well. You have to move with the market. The Escort was a massively popular car, with the Cosworth still being loved by the motoring press today. There's a reason people like evo, TopGear and Autocar praise Fords so highly and they certainly know more than you or I do about cars. Again, I like the Leon - just to clarify.
benweston2002 2 years ago
The Leons don't have any major facelift changes part from F/R Bumper shapes & Door mirrors and, neither do Ashtrays aka Astras or Fiat Bravas. Ford actually change the whole Front style, sweep the whole body shape and the lines etc. Seat, Vauxhall, Fiat always have interchangable exterior body parts with the previous shape, Ford usually don't with the exeption of Mondeo III and Focus I, You can't interchange change doors, wings, rear lights, etc from most other facelifted Fords.
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
My father used to own a dark green R-reg Mondeo Ghia-X 2.5 V6 Automatic. He sold it because petrol got very expensive. It was the only car I ever drove, as I had an automatic driving liecence from 18 years old and had to pass my test in a manual car all over again. Some old git didn't see a red light and crashed into him at a set of crossroads.
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
The damage the old git caused was a write-off but it was still running good, after he got the shitty market value for it which was about £550, he bought it back off the ins company for about £150 and repaired the whole car himself with my uncle. He couldn't interchange any of the body parts from the previous 1992-1995 shape Mondeo! Which made it difficult for him.
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
After he put it back together and reprayed everything he sold it for £1100 and put another full MOT on it. When he bought the car from a trade dealer, I think he paid about £1600 then 7 months later some colour blind old git misses a red light and he gets a measly £550! But he claimed for leg & head injuries and he got a couple of grand from that about 2 years after.
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
Actually the facelifts are nothing more than changed panels. You can actually take the new front bumper, bonnet and lights off the new model and stick them on the old. The underlying car is exactly the same so the facelift is no more major than that of the Leon or the Astra's very minimal 08 facelift. Nothing has changed to the chassis at all and there have only been a Mk1 and Mk2 Focus. The current Focus is still based on the Mk2 platform of 2005 with completely interchangeable panels.
benweston2002 2 years ago
No Its not always quite like that with Fords, the wings & doors off a 92-95 Mondeo won't fit a 96-00 Mondeo. The exterior body shape on the 96 is slightly wider and is flared out at the sides.
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
The only other car my dad could find suitable within 30 miles at the time was a side dented Ford Contour import (Mondeo USA). Even the doors and wings and styling lines on the Ford Contour wouldn't even fit! He only got a matching identical left headlamp, oval grill-piece & bonnet from it. The rear end was different as well, It was like the Scorpio with a red tail-plynthed boot complimenting the rear lights. It looks cooler from behind than our Mondeo! especially with a spoiler & Zetec Alloys!
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
well, i suppose it is the PSA developed Peugeot/citroen shitty commonrail T/Diesel engine shoved under the Focus so what reliable configuration can you honestly expect? I know French HDi engines are bad, but not quite this bad!
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
Mate, I don't drive around looking for races - I'm not a twat. I'm just stating what I know about not just this engine but many. The PSA engine is very well regarded and is used in many different cars - the Focus, the new Volvo C30 (where it's highly praised), the Pug and Citroen hatches, etc. I'm not looking for an argument, I'm just stating fact. Also, the engine features "overboost" which takes it to 251lb/ft when you floor it. 236lb/ft is normal driving.
benweston2002 2 years ago
The overboost fucks the cars turbo life up by putting too much pressure on the wastegate and then the over-exhailed air backfires through the turbo the wrong way while the turbo is still forcing air in the opposite direction towards the wastegate. This is the problem with overboost! its fine untill this happens!
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
And being a member of the FFOC and knowing several mechanics, I've never heard of this overboost problem you speak of. Ever. Diesel engines are more than robust enough to take far more power than they put out, by design. This isn't even a listed problem on the engine notes. The Turbo is a VVT Garrett rated at well over 250bhp so there's no problem with that blowing or the wastegate for that matter. Stop talking out your arse.
