  • This video deserved 100,000 views. Wish I could fish like that. Oh and one more question. Are you still working or are you retired yet?

  • @TwistedVortex22 Thanks...I don't know why this particular one gets so many views. It is an OK video but certainly not one of my personal bests! I'm retired now. It is good, but you never get a day off........ha. :)

  • love the vids

  • @Theflyman288 Thanks for watching this old video! Much appreciated.

  • how long do you fish per video?

  • @ima14yearoldmechanic Somewhere between 6-8 hours normally. Sometimes just a few hours; rarely over 8 hours.

  • @Winkiedoodles ok thank you alot.

  • only 4.5 lbs???????? I'd be happy any day catching fish like that!!

    great vid

  • @metallica250000 Thanks. Always fun for me to go back and watch a video from a couple of years ago!

  • good job you.. idiot

  • @PyMCnelson be nice......stupid is as stupid does

  • Nice video. What state are you in?

  • @clewi1091 Thanks for commenting; I hadn't seen this video for a while so it was fun to watch it again. State is Missouri.

  • @Winkiedoodles Im in Missouri also! Im about an hour from Springfield.

  • @clewi1091 Well, how about that. Great to hear from a fellow Ozarkian!

  • @Winkiedoodles Yes it is. I fish at Lake of the Ozarks mostly. Crappie fishing mainly.

  • @clewi1091 It's been a while since I've fished at LOZ, but sure enjoyed launching at PB2 and night fishing those docks. Best wishes in your crappie fishing. Thanks our next "target" and I'll try Pomme de Terre or Stockton in a short time. Bye!

  • niceeee

  • 88 degree water?! whoa thats warm

  • @sofleye23 Yes, it was. I think this was mid-summer and it is a shallow power plant lake so the water gets quite warm.

  • sit in a tree and go treble hooking for some deer

  • @177gaga No kidding, the deer are just thick down there as it is a conservation area and they are pretty much land locked.

  • Man, you 're just as crazy as I am. I talk to myself and laugh at my own jokes ( all by myself ). I love that pontoon you 're on. I grew up fishing farm ponds in Ohio, so this video brought back alot of good memories. Some times my dad would join me, but most of the time, I 'm by myself.

  • @Iamluv2351 Ha! There's something about fishing with a camera that does that! I'm sure most folks (myself included) would wonder about the talking to oneself. I've also often contemplated why most of the "normal" fishing (no video camera anywhere) is all done in total silence; not one word is uttered, but if we're at a football game we're yelling our fool heads off. Go figure.

  • Ma dove state,nel Paradiso???????

  • @Markotoscano Paradiso? Forse e particolarmente quando i pesci stanno mordendo. Ciò era a Springfield, Missouri. Fortuna il mio amico! Caio.

  • very nice video, did something similar today, i backlashed the only bait caster i had on me and started fishing my old ultra light spincater zebco 33 with an inline spinner, and caught 2-3 2 1/2 to 3lbers! then i had one break me of and i through my pole and went to pick it up by the tip end and it broke! it would have been fixable if i hadn't have did the same thing again lol frustrations frustrations

  • @Bassmaster26107 I had to smile about your story, but you were still catching bass which is great! Sounds like it's time to drag out the checkbook or credit card and head off to the sporting goods department! Best wishes and thanks for watching.

  • looks like someone had a good day fishing

    fish on!

  • @chicobanom Thanks for commenting! If I recall, this was about 2 years ago around this same time of the year. There's nothing happening in the same place this year because of the crazy weather pattern we've had. Hopefully it will pick up later this fall.

  • Nice fishing.

    Who make those boats?

    Thanks

  • @MrAfilao Thanks for commenting! You can get those boats on line at bass pro dot com. They are made by Water Skeeter. I don't know if it is a division of the Skeeter bass boats. They are very versatile.

  • favorite bass fishing video on the internet right here!

  • @FishinTheVille Why thank you for the kind comment! I don't exactly know why this video seems to be more popular than some of my other (to me better) fishing trips, but thanks!.

  • geat video and some very nice largemouth bass

  • @BryanGUYCLARKFISHfry Thanks, Bryan. I went down to the same spot about a week ago and caught basically nothing but dinks (what a difference the weather makes) but counted 30 deer on the way out.

  • Thank u very much il try that and ya I was jus playn around when I was typin lol

  • Can u tell me how I can find weeds under water that would be a good place to cast a spinner bait I fish from shore and also what conditions are good for spinnerbAits thankssssssss

  • @Creekangler19 Sure. If you throw a bait and it comes back covered in weeds or moss, you've found the weeds. Throw your spinnerbait out and reel it fast enough so it rides just over the weeds but doesn't get caught in them. Also you need a new keyboarddddddddddddddddddddd :)

  • Is this is in Mississippi near Pontotoc?

  • @adamlesh Thanks for watching; no, it is in Springfield, Missouri.

  • you maybe be a crazy old guy, but you sure are a good fisherman! lol!

  • @pikeangler145 Hey, I never said I wasn't old! Ha! Thanks! :)

  • k ty

  • ur wlcm

  • how much was your boat?

  • I bought it from my neighbor who was moving to Washington state. He paid somewhere around $1200 for it at Bass Pro shops and then added the motor, battery and anchor. It's pretty cool but a fishing kayak would be easier to handle.

  • awesome video! those were some nice big fat bass! looks like a ton of fun! seems like each time i go bass fishing, i seem to always catch the little ones, but you seemed to catch all the good ones while trying to get crappie! ha! guess you can't complain though :)

  • Elijah, thanks for watching and commenting. The issue that day was a typical "river" situation where the crappie moved around somewhere and I couldn't find them. Bass are more predictable as they tend to hang out in the same places, or so it seems. Oh, I don't always catch the big ones, that's the magic of editing!

  • lol! i like ur intro! good stuff! :-)

  • Thanks, appreciate your watching and commenting! I don't know why this video gets so many hits; it must be the herd of deer! I had a digital camera (not a camcorder) so that's why the deer were blurry when I zoomed in on them.

  • what spinnerbait at 2:37?5*

  • It was just a Wal-Mart spinnerbait, probably 3/8 oz, that I modified by changing out the blades and skirt. Unfortunately, I lost it a few months ago, it was really good!

  • ive caught bout a 4 and 1 half pound bass with just a johnson beatle spin no prob

  • Thanks for commenting, Rider7! I think everybody that throws those beatle spins eventually finds that's exactly what the bass want at times. Some of the most fantastic crappie fishing I ever got on was with a beetle spin, too. Great little bait.

  • Just today i went crappie fishing, got 20-30 little ones on a small white grub. coincidentally, I picked up some 1-2lb bass on that grub. I also used a green/gold spoon to pick up a 2lb rainbow, a small cutthroat, and 2 bass! Hurray for variety and success!

  • You are making me jealous! Congratulations on all that great fishing action. If conditions are right, you can slay crappie with a variety of grub colors. Some of the best crappie luck I've ever had has been on small curly tail yellow grubs. At other times, those squirts work really well in various colors. Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • is that a inflatable?

  • Yes, it comes with a pump that you use to blow up the two big bladders. I've inflated it once in a year, so it holds air just fine. Thanks for watching!

  • 4.5 isnt skinny lol thats a good fish the fish I catch in my ponds are small with the occasional 4 lbers witch I caught yesterday (yay for the senko). the biggest is a 6.4 off a Zara spook

  • Thanks for watching, Chips! A conservation agent once told me that when a fish gets pretty old it will start loosing body mass but still have a big head. This fish probably would have been close to 6 if it were younger. Your 6.4 on that Spook is a great bass. Lots of times there's a few really big bass in small ponds.

  • I hope theres more big ones if you watch my new video youll see all the small dinks I catch in there lol

  • ive never heard of crappie fishing with jigs and spinner baits, if you have a fly rod ive had great success, pull in a good 20 crappie a session with a small fly, also any top water rapala's just kinda of jerkin em around the serface produces some good crappies too works for bass but mostly crappies. bass fishin kicks ass haha nice vid bro

  • if im fishing for bass with spinner bait which should i use??

yellor & green or yellow or red?

  • Thanks for commenting. I'd start with the yellow, then try the red, then try the yellow and green. Don't forget to add white and black to your arsenal of spinnerbaits!

  • hey dude u gotta make a vid on making the homemade spinner (hope i took it right) and how to pick wich color for the water and hpow to fish them love ur vids.

  • Thanks for the nice comments. I never thought of doing that so it is an interesting idea. Might be some value in seeing what I do which is basically straightening out the wire loop and replacing the blades and skirts. If the bass where I go "get on" spinnerbaits this year I might do just that.

  • Man, Don! You sure get some hits on your videos. I guarantee you know what you're doing! Nice fishing vessel! What kind of cameras were you using? You just gotta love the deer sightings! Makes my mouth water, too! I always love watching your videos!

  • Matt, I have no clue as to why this particular video seems to be somewhat popular. It has no special effects and no transitions at all, as I recall, so maybe less is more. I used my same Canon digital Elph camera. There were quite a few deer that day but I saw 26 on the way out(filmed them all but didn't put all the footage in the video because it was the same thing over and over) in that recent video about the Bass Guide pontoon boat.

  • Don,

I really love to deer hunt, too! I'm into hunting deer for the total experience. Sure, I'd have a nice shoulder mount done on a nice buck, but I'm not really a rack hunter. I'm quite content to take a nice, meaty doe.

  • I'll usually get an any deer and a bonus tag. For the past serveral years I've gun hunted and muzzle loader as well. I'm not real happy with the fact that I take a nice deer in for processing and don't really know who's deer I'm getting back in the box a few weeks later. I've often butchered my own deer, especially if I get one on opening day and have the time. I've put "trophy racks" out of my imagination because none have ever come anywhere near where I hunt!

  • I hear ya on the processing, Don. I do my own deer processing. The processing is just part of the whole experience. To me, late October into early November puts me in a pretty good state of mind. I love the smells of the woods, the days growing shorter, sunsets from the deer stand, & the list goes on.....

  • nice vid, too bad you couldn't catch the Crappies! But nonetheless, a good day of fishing.

  • Thanks for watching and commenting! I haven't had a "spinner bait" day yet this year, but am crossing my fingers for mid-August!

  • what do you think would be the best color spinnerbait with about 10 feet deep water in the middle

  • If I was fishing a pond around 10 feet deep I'd throw: white, black or yellow, all with willow leaf blades (single or double). Try both the larger (1/2 oz) as well as the smaller ( 3/8 oz) spinner baits, and perhaps even the little 1/4 oz types that are like crappie spins.. The fish will tell you what they want.

  • This guy smokes drugs. It's awesome.

  • Nope! No drugs. No booze. All natural, which is perhaps even scarier! :) Thanks for watching!

  • haha I meant that as a compliment, essentially. If you know what I mean.

  • I understood completely, and no offense taken! Appreciate the compliment and glad you liked the video as it was fun to make.

  • yay me crap is really gay but other wise good vid

  • What?

  • how do u make a homemade spinner?

  • I found some store-bought ones that work and others that don't. So I dismantle them and put different blades on selected bodies. In the case of the spinner bait in this video, I took off the original double silver Colorado blades and put a hammered white willow leaf blade and a gold willow leaf and then replaced the skirt. This spinner bait works really well now. If you watch my new Fishing for Fish video, that spinner bait is also a home made creation. Its basically tinkering around.

  • Well, first, thanks for commenting. Now, if you can't use magic or win some more $ playing poker, your $20 budget seems to be the limiting factor. Perhaps buy some Gamakatsu worm hooks, some bullet weights and one or two packs of Berkley Power worms. Make sure you know how to tie the Palomar knot (google it for instructions) and have good line and go start slinging those worms! Good luck!

  • hey winkie i was wondering if i have to use a smaller hook for crappie then for bass

  • Falls714, if you are fishing with live bait (minnows) then yes, you use a smaller wire hook. I've caught crappie on rare occasions on big worm hooks and big bass jigs and also big spinner baits and crank baits but they generally like little squirts and jigs and road runners and stuff like that.

  • what spinner bait do recomend i dont go fishing often but i want to catch a bass

  • Thanks for watching and commenting Fallenrocks! I'd recommend a 3/8 oz double willow leaf in white or black. Spinnerbaits work best (for me) in June and July but folks throw them year round so I've heard.

  • Im sorry if you already said so, but just curious what lake was that?

  • Lake Springfield, on the SE side of Springfield, MO. Its not real big and is very shallow overall. Thanks for watching.

  • how big are those spinners?

  • Hayden, thanks for watching....I think I normally throw a 3/8 oz to 1/2 oz spinnerbait in that lake. Hopefully they'll be on spinnerbaits again this year as well!

  • Nice bass there on spinnerbaits. Cute little boat to.

  • Thanks, Steve. These pontoon style boats are quite popular for smaller lakes, rivers and streams. Do you fish in your "winter" that is coming up?

  • Think you could mount a Trolling motor on one of those boats? I want one but I dont want to paddle lol

  • Absolutely! Its a little hard to see, but in the opening of the vid, at around 43 seconds, you can see the top of the trolling motor. I can mount 2 batteries on the back deck of the boat as well. I've only used the paddles once on a pond. You can check out this kind of pontoon at Bass Pro Shops on line.

  • nice fish but do you ever slip and fall off those little planks in that boat

  • Thanks for watching and great question! No, actually that pontoon boat is extremely stable and virtually impossible to fall out of. The floor is a metal platform, plus the model I have you can stand up and there's a bar to lean against, similar to what they attach to a float in a parade. All in all, it is a very safe setup, plus fun.

  • u want to catch big fish come to falcon lake.. see u on the water

  • frist chnance i get im all oevr falcon laek like a chikcen on a cheeetoe i think it is in mexcico

  • Haha nice video, what lake is that? keep fishing

  • Thanks, glad you enjoyed the goofy thing. Well, it was at Lake Springfield, on the S. side of Springfield, MO. It is a very shallow power plant lake; not very big, either.

  • does that mean the water stays warm?

  • There's a warm-water outlet on the W side of the lake (limited bank fishing) but it doesn't keep the whole lake warm. Its plenty cold right where I fish as the river runs through there.

  • Thanks, Ray, I'd recommend them to anybody who has "small" waters to fish. They are the cat's meow.

  • wow those are some nice bass! good job!

  • Jacksattack, I can't wait for this year because so far we haven't had any flood conditions so perhaps it will be a great year. Thanks for commenting and good luck on the water!

  • I didnt know there were crappie in that lake cool

  • 45, yes, some real dandies. My B-I-L told me about them but I sort of stumbled on them by accident about 5 yrs ago. They were noticeably "absent" last year because of the floods.

  • yesyes, I use the gary4ingrubs willingly.

I want to go soon in the pre-sporning season to catch it for big 1 in Lake Biwa-ko.

I should be able to catch snow gill, too.(^v^/

I wish you do splendid fishing!!

  • Excellent! Be sure to let me know how you do this spring. Ha, ha, ha, glad you liked the joke about the Snow Gills.

  • By the way, do you know any of those fishermen in the Float Bassers International? Watch at the channel of mead6969 as they do many tournaments in Japan.

  • wow! good size!

I do bass fishing in Japan, too.

It's the best that fishing is made happy at a good location!

  • Meekun, thank you for the nice comments! I have seen many excellent videos of bass fishing in Japan. Also, I use many lures that might be from Japan such as Gary Yamamoto, Senko, Yo Zuri.

  • I need to bring my winchester 270 up there and do some deer fishing of my own! haha.

  • Hey, no kidding, there's a very large population of deer in that conservation area but unfortunately it is unhuntable.....I heard they do the bow thing every now and then. There's nature trails and you can see deer everywhere, sitting and standing like lawn ornaments.

  • ha you crack me up! with the deer live well thing :). nice fishing.

  • Halibut, thanks for the kind comments! That lake I was fishing is right in a city park with a huge herd of deer.....people go down there just to see the deer come out near dark.

  • Sooo... you were crappie fishing... with a baitcaster?

  • Well, I had been throwing a small crank bait for crappie on a spinning reel with no success. I usually bring 3 to 4 rods/reels with a jig, spinnerbait, crankbait and plastic worm. It isn't unusual to catch large crappie on a baitcaster/spinnerbait at times as well, despite the conception that crappie only chase small stuff.

  • what were you fishing from? i know it was not a boat what was it? and where could i get one?

  • Those types of boats are called pontoons and they come in a lot of different syles and with lots of options. The one I have is from Bass Pro Shops. It is a Water Skeeter River Guide. I put a Hummingbird depth finder on it, but all the other things (less trolling motor, anchor, battery of course) are pretty standard on this one. I really like the casting support bar; you can stand up and it is very safe.

  • nice damn video man.

  • FBMarco, hey, thanks! Glad you liked it! STILL HAVEN'T found the crappie this year, dang it!

  • Great vid! Keep em coming!

  • DandT, thanks for the kind comments! If the "feesh" cooperate, I'll sure try to share what's going on in my neck of the woods!

  • this is the funniest and craziest fishing vid hahaha hey winki have u seen my biggest bass vid 1 and 2 thats the quality of fish youll get on the jig

  • TG95: glad you liked that silly vid! I'll head on over to your channel and see what you hammered with those jigs.

  • GREAT JOB ! bEEN THERE WITH THE HOLE IN THE CROTCH ! My nephews Suburban was higher than my pants wanted to stretch lol. I see you have the same wind problem , We need windless mikes LMAO MMMM deer saugage Slim jim deermeat ! *****

  • BF: Ha, nice comments! Actually, it was a "pole in my crotch" not a "hole"! I had a net in one hand and a camera in the other so there was no place to put the rod/reel so I stuck it between my legs and hoped for the best! Of course I finally had to put the camera down and net the darned thing. No fishing for a while (hurricane effects).

  • Lmao Hell to get old < My hearing is shot been on one too many flight lines ! That makes sense now lol

  • Ha! I saw something the other day about those MP3 players/IPODs and so forth; about 1/2 of the "users" already have hearing loss.....wow.

  • oand by the way. i have found blue and green being a gr8 color this season. caught many bass on a blueand green spinner this year

  • Rail End, hey, thanks; right-on with blue and green! Excellent colors. In this particular lake they really like double gold willow-leaf and yellow skirt, too.

  • only bad thing is. when i catch a northern. nothing hits it again. =[ so then i have to air it our 4 a day

  • Why would you have to air out a spinnerbait for a day...do pike leave some sort of slime or something on the lure?

  • yeap they do. i had to learn the hard way they dont hit it after 1 hits it. at least around these parts.

  • nice fish

  • Oh, by the way, definitely 5+++*

  • Where the heck do you find all of those big fish? Doodles, you make me embarassed to put up videos!!! Seriously though, keep puttin' them up becuase your'e an inspiration to us all. Lord's blessings to you.

  • 707, I keep getting comments on this vid and so I was scrolling down and I can't remember if I replied to yours. If I didn't, many apologies! What's happening in your neck of the woods?

  • Nice fish! Where's the Bowfins? Video graphic and editing are outstanding! 5*

  • Crazy...ha! Thanks for nice comment. I'm going to have to figure out how filter out "wind" background noise. Bowfins have not been an issue since I mounted my BDAAS (Bowfin Detection and Avoidance System) HA!
