We had the best tanks but the poorest commanders. Sucks... along with air superiority, better communication and preparation, the Germans could easily take our tanks out although being inferior :(
@oOCrossroadsOo I say if they had learned to charge their tanks in the second the Polish were invade they could've easily had taken the advantage, except France only cared really for defending it's own borders
@Josex26 The whole series was called "Battlefield". It covered WWII in multiple series and did an excellent job. Their was a another series made about the US war in Vietnam and is very good as well.
the B1bis litteraly terrorised the germans in may-june 1940. it couldn't be destroyed by german tanks, nore by anti-tank weapons. only the flak 88 gun used as anti-tank could get rid of it.
One big weakness exploited by German Pzkw 38s of Rommel's 7th Panzer Division was the radiator grill on one side. Some B1 bis were refuelling when a unit of 38s came by. Shooting for the grill, many of these 30-ton French tanks were destroyed by 9 ton German tanks. The German's good communications and manouvering meant their tanks' faults were overcome in defeating the thicker armoured and often better armed French tanks.
@fabizio The placement of the guns wasn't optimal either, they had to turn the whole tank to aim that big gun in the hull. Also I believe the driver was also the gunner for the 75mm, which isn't that great either.
@evildeathmonkey1 Yes, he was and used a stereo-optic gun site. He would look at tow images and adjust the site till it was one image. Then it was ranged in. This was only done when firing the gun. The driver had conventional ports and a hatch to aid driving

Wasn't the frontal armor 100mm+ though?

@Paciat, though the Char B1 was an old concept the Matilda would surely lose an engagement on equal terms, because of its horrible weak 2 pdr gun.

I think that Matilda II would win a 1 vs 1 with a Char B1.

an excellent tank, with no major weakness except a large fuel consumption which limited its autonomy.
