  • well done im glad i watched

  • ROCK ON!

  • I want a tattoo of an F-14. Any ideas where or what it should be doing?

  • @ltsmum3316 Have it mid air refuelling and the tube leading into you arse crack lol.

    there are other stuff too....................

  • I am long time fan of F-14 Tomcat. lately I started looking at web pages about F-14B/D dogfighting capabilities but I cannot find anything in particular. I'm in general interested how it holds against F-15C.I want to ask If anyone knows the instantaneous and continuous turn rate of F-14B/D at LOW and HIGH altitudes, and at LOW and HIGH speeds? How does it compare to an F-15C Eagle.

  • nice video pal !

  • What is a tactical fighter?

  • Nice. Thanks for sharing

  • Fy f-n va vackert...

  • I am a big fan of F-14 Tomcat. But hornet is still better than nothing :D

  • i cant beleive they retired those things

  • i cant beleive they retired those things

  • GO USAF!

  • hey thescrumpty, i mean 1:05 it looks like the two planes are crashing or something!!

  • f 14 and f 18 looks same size

  • Tomcat RULES!!!

  • @MrMaverick1971 tomcat was my favorite plane it really sucks that it's out of service that's what i was gonna fly when i join i guess i'l just settle for the FA-18, or F-16 ( the concord is also out of service)

  • It's a good thing that piece of shit F-14 got shredded, otherwise it would stink up the whole sky with its pathetic engines.

  • @Tomcatsux4ever It's obvious you don't your airplanes because the F-14D is faster, more range, can target more boogies and engage 6 targets flying different altitudes, air speed directions. Hornets can only engage 2 targets at a time and at closer range. I refer you AMERICAN MILITARY AIRCRAFT BY JIM WINCHESTER. Great book with photos, specs & history of all US planes including the F-22 and 35.

  • @yipper47 So you're saying a A/F18 can not outperform in the air a F14???!?!?!? Yes sir, i think the big whigs get it, i hate to of seen the tomcat die like most of us, but it was built to destroy the USSR jets that just don't exist. We need cheap and heavy firepower now..... the old formula which failed the airforce in the 50's has been reversed

  • @Tomcatsux4ever F-14D's GE F110 engines are the same engine used in the new F-15K, F-15SG and the kickass Block 60 F-16.

they are not pathetic, you are.

BTW, they got shredded so the only other country that uses F-14s, which is Iran, can't acquire it's spareparts. But the Persians are just too damn genius, they've re-engineered it, upgraded the shit outta it, and made their own spareparts.

  • what the heck is goin on at 1;08?

  • looks like he is taking off from a waist cat, why?

  • If a tomcat went up against Su-33 Flankers, it's best bet would be in it's AMRAAM's not it's AIM-54's, the Phoenix is a very poor missile to use against anything less agile than a Tu-95.

  • @F15pilots You actially have a brain about the AIM-54

  • YOU ARE KIDDING RIGHT? the pheonix was only ever fired in practice and never in combat but its kill percentage was in the high 90 percentile, and could very easily be used agains fighters as well as bombers, due to it's top speed no matter how maneuverable a fighter plane is it wont outrun a pheonix, nor would a pilot have the time to attempt to get out of its way, combined with the lethal radius of its warhead being 7X larger than the amraam, it dont even have to get real close to it's target

  • @TheScrumpty The AIM-54A Phoenix Long Range Missile was originally designed for the failed F-111 program for the US Navy, it was designed for the sole purpose of shooting down bombers before they got in firing range of the Battle Group. When you get into the medium to short range dogfights, the missiles semi-active homing system becomes quite "stupid" because of the pauses between the updates on the targets position from the aircrafts radar.

  • i agree with you right up to the point wher you say a medium ranges it get stupid because of long lapses between updates from the parent aircraft, this is wrong the pheonix is fire and forget due to it having it own onboard radar it needs no updates from the parent aircraft after it is launched, it guides to the target all by itself after the umbilical is severed upon launch

  • I'm glad the F-14 Tomcrap got retired.

It was a piece of shit fighter that was only an interceptor and nothing else.

  • Tomcatsux4ever, hahaha..... some who posted negative comment on F-14 had themselves forcibly removed from comment. Agree with you, F-14 was retired due to heavy fuel guzzling, poor climb rate and higher maintenance than F-15E.

  • @taekarkung Well the Tomcat had poor acceleration, poor climbing rates, poor turning rates, and terrible radar signature (it had a huge radar signature). So pretty much, it sucks.

  • Quite true, wonder if the Tomcats were to go against Su-33 Flanker D, will they fare better compared to F/A-18E/F. F-14B/D with 4 AIM-54C, 2 AIM-120C7 & 2 AIM-9M or F/A-18E/F with 8 AIM-120C7/D & 4 AIM-9M? vs Su-33 with 4 R27ER/AE, 4 R77 & 4 R-74? Good thing about F/A-18E/F is its AN/-APG-79 AESA radar that could make it great weapon plattform.

  • @taekarkung The Super Hornet is also capable of carrying the AIM-9X. It can deploy farther.

  • Looks like we have another McDonnell Douglas supporter like me. Mc'D builds practical, reliable & durable aircrafts that could fight. A-4 Skyhawk, F-4 Phantom II, F-15 Eagle, F/A-18 Hornet/Super Hornet. It is sad that McDonnell Douglas is no more after losing ATF YF-23 Blackwidow II & JSF X-32 programme due to Lockheed Martin's ties wih government. Lockheed builds F-104 that can't maneuver, A-12/YF-12/SR-71 has speed but not for combat, U-2/TR-1A, F-117A. F-16 is built by General Dynamics

  • @taekarkung Lockheed is now known as Boeing. They make some of the world's best planes....like the F-15 and the F/A-18. Best company ever.

  • What!! Lockheed Martin absorbed into Boeing too? Looks like the merger is reducing total number of US aircraft manufacturers to just 2. That means monopoly with no competition. The sad thing ever is to see best manufacturer, McDonnell Douglas winding up and bought by Boeing (civilian aircraft builder).

  • @taekarkung Oh, sorry, not Lockheed, Mcdonnel Douglas.

  • lockheed works with boeing, but is not known as boeing

  • @leonscottkennedyre4 Actually, Lockheed, Northrup Grumman, and Boeing worked together to create the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet.

  • mhm,and the F-22 and the F-35,i was simply stating lockheed is not known as boeing, lockheed is much more advance

  • @leonscottkennedyre4 Oh, yeah! Of course. I just made an honest mistake :)

  • Lockheed Martin involved in developing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet? That plane was already built in 1994-1996 before McDonnell Douglas was absorbed into Boeing. It is still McDonnell Douglas final masterpiece alongside with X-32 before the end of the great legend.

  • @taekarkung and faster.

  • True, besides F/A-18s are proven tougher just like F-15s that it could take more punishment and higher survival rate of coming back home alive despite getting hit. Overall performance & capability determines whether a fighter is good. Many would just read from specifications and judge. Radar, maneuverability with payload, max payload, combat radius, speed with payload, RWR early warning system, weapon effectiveness counts. MIG-29s in Serbia & Iraq were easily splashed due to lousy RWR. Flankers?

  • With the swept wings and engines outputing over 27,000 pounds of thrust each, it was no slouch, and no other aircraft with the exception of the F-15E Strike Eagle had the standoff strike capability that the F-14D had, and despite it's size and weight, tomcats still had the ability to get inside F-5's turn radius and go guns on them. Believe you me, i've seen them at Red Flag back in 83' they are a force to be reckoned with.

  • Ahh the Tomcat. Such a beauty. A naval symbol of the 80's. Huge and Muscular. Its not a piece of sh*t. It's a piece of art! Beauty! and the Super Hornet...hmm, just the name "Super" makes me sheer. It looks ready too bite its enemy's...like a Cobra!

  • F-14D super tomcat.... will forever miss the sound of the engines in afterburner at NAS Oceana.

  • The F 18 may be a good fighter but it dosen't have that bad ass look like the Tomcat. In my opinion the only fighter that comes close to looking as mean as the Tomcat is the old F 4 Phantom.

  • @mondo78 True, the F-18 dosen't have a sexy look as the Tomcat. Actually, it looks better than even the F-4. But the F/A-18 Super Hornet was aimed to replace the Tomcat. That was the intention of the US Navy.

  • Hornets by mandate, Tomcats by choice....Anytime Baby!!!

  • @xTomcatsForeverVF84x Well it depends on the pilot. If they want low-speed, extreme (but not too extreme like the Raptor) maneuverability, wide array of weapons, very capable aircraft, the Super Hornet would be their man ;). If they want hi-speed, not very maneuverable, but just enough capable aircraft, they would pick the Turkey...I mean Tomcat ;)

  • I would seriously check your "not very maneuverable" thinking.....The Tomcat held its own in dogfights with F-5's, A-4's, and F-16N's, which are WAY more nimble and agile fighters than the Hornet or Super Hornet. If the Tomcat beat those three fighters, then it WOULD'VE held its own as of today....if only it was still in service!

  • @xTomcatsForeverVF84x Oh, sorry, no AS maneuverable as the super hornet.

  • well, honestly i don't think we will ever know unless they bring the tomcat out and test it,i believe the main reason for retirement was cost, also i heard the hornet has something like 7 parts or something and the tomcat had like 42,so maintenance was harder, longer, and more costly on the F-14,but the tomcat does have a better record then any version of the F-18

  • @leonscottkennedyre4 Well, no debate or anything, but the Tomcat was a maintenance man's worst nightmare.

  • i agree,however if they remade a newer version i would disagree

  • @leonscottkennedyre4 Ehh, I love both. But what the navy needs to do is create an entirely new aircraft. I'm talking both engines of the F-16 with thrust vectoring in one aircraft. Make the aircraft airframe entirely different. Make it maintenance friendly, Have the Wings of the F/A-18F Super Hornet. Hows that for a replacement aircraft for the Super Hornet?

  • honestly i woulda loved to see the f-16 navy version again,i like the super hornet and the f-16,but combined i smell a fail, what they need is a double engine, thrust vectoring stealth aircraft, like the f-35 but with 2 F136 engines

  • @leonscottkennedyre4 Well we know that stealth is going to end. So just stick with non-stealth aircraft. Focus on speed, maneuverability, payload, and radar. so yah.

  • dude you scrumpty and alot of others may know more about jets then me,but one thing i do know is physics, and quasicrystals and meta materials, stealth will not die,it will simply become better, true invisibility, also britain has already showed invisibility on a tank, house hold experiments also show it useing certain wave lengths

  • @leonscottkennedyre4 Wow? Really? Physics? Nice! Respect!

  • mhm,though i do agree,the f-35 is bad

  • @leonscottkennedyre4 The guy below me stil thinks I'm a pretending to be a pulot. I ADMIT I'M NOT A PILOT. Yes I used to be in the Navy, but as a 3rd class. I failed the test, so they kicked me out. And Now I'm just working as a DOD civilian in North Island NAS as a servant in one of the restaurants. At least I served my country and have a clue about aircraft. Well anyways, the F-35 will probably be the worst aircraft invented in US Military. It should be for the US Marine Corps. Not the Navy.

  • agreed, but i wanna hope the guys up at the top know what their doing,so maybe the F-35 is gonna be decent

  • @leonscottkennedyre4 They take an emphasis on ground-strike. No longer air-to-air. But I really dont understand. The F-16 has 1 engine, and can go mach 2+. The F-35 also has 1 engine but is slower than the F-18. Only Mach 1.6. Which is pretty fast. But it's slow by comparison to the other aircraft. Mach 1 is fast. Just not fastER. The only time you can say it's slow is if its subsonic.

  • yeah i know, thats why i personally voted for the F136 engine, cheaper stronger and more fuel efficient but it didn't win

  • @leonscottkennedyre4 *sigh*. Well, Russians are really smart. I mean look at the SU-35. One of the best fighters out there. And Russia says that they will "outrun and out-maneuver" our planes. Russians are rally smart people. Okay so how about this, single-engine thrust vectoring engine with super cruise. How's that for an idea ;)?

  • russia does have good jets and is smart, but they can't mass produce their jets,a single engine with thrust vectoring and super cruise? sounds like the F-35 :P

  • @leonscottkennedyre4 Okay, Mach 2.2, Single engine, thrust vectoring, 2 wingtip, 12 weapons on it, not stealth, and for pure air superiority.

  • sounds more like the F-16 vista now haha, but i know what you mean :P

  • @leonscottkennedyre4 Okay then. Well I guess the Fail-35 will have to do for now.

  • mhm,unless they wanna grab a FB-22

  • @leonscottkennedyre4 Sure. Well I don't know what to say. I think the F-22 is the greatest fighter ever built. Oh wait, sorry, not I think. I KNOW it is the greatest fighter ever built. But we haven't seen it in combat.

  • F-22 is greatest fighter except that it has much unnecessary electronic gadgets needed to be removed & replaced with practical, reliable & durable mechanical + electrical as being used in F/A-18E/F. It doesn't need electronic controlled hatch opener, voice recognition & touchscreen MFD. With these stuffs removed, price & maintenance of F-22 & also F-35 could be lowered much.

  • Sounds like the F-16 MANV demonstrator.

  • Like they said with the F-15, not a pound for air to ground!

  • You really have lame facts against anything. You wouldn't know anything until its happened. Get lost!

  • @xTomcatsForeverVF84x No actually, you do. Most of your "facts" are bullshit. Why don't you get lost and talk to a real navy aviator.

  • SuperHornetTV, You are NOT a former Tomcat pilot. In fact, you don't even fly. You're just a teenager that stays home with his brother and tries to pretend to be a pilot on the computer =P Most of my facts are bullshit? Really, thats not what you and everybody else said. You are a hypocrite, you sent me messages that had no proof and weren't even real. I proved to you that you were wrong, and now you are getting all upset LMAO. Get back to playing pilot on your computer nerd =)

  • @xTomcatsForeverVF84x Look, I am NOT a pilot. I was only in the Navy for 5 years, but couldn't pass my exam for 2nd class. Look at my recent comment.

  • LOL really? I thought you told me you worked for Boeing?

  • @xTomcatsForeverVF84x That was before.

    Boeing for 1 year

    Navy for 5 years

    DOD civilian present

  • Great choice of music! Having a good friend who was an F-14 pilot, seeing this is very special to me. Thank you for posting it.

  • F14 with AIM54...Hornet what???

  • if your a pilot in a dog fight which 1 would you rather be in?

  • great falcons, love this music

  • Ljubim ti kurac

  • The F-14 looks AMAZING with it's wings partially retracted.

  • song name???

  • co tu písete

  • Long live Mig-21

  • Its preety amazing how F-14 goes Sonic Boom Im joining the airforce When im 18 Im expecting to see sonic boom :D

  • @projectinfamous24 Nice grammar.

  • @_@ AWESOME @_@

  • this stinks..was expecting flyby video not photos

  • Thanks you, Videos veyr nice, 5★★★★★

  • Awesome !

God Bless all the Fire Fighters and workers.

    Love,

    Teri

  • compare with F 18 and sukoi 29...????

  • I get to work on those mofos... AE3 is a great rate in the Navy

  • I am F18 pilot.

  • and i am Gott

  • Are you?

  • yes but pssstt..

    it´s a secret ^^

  • what does it feel like when u dive?

  • oh really?

  • Are you really that is cool man lucky you for me a dream which could never come true and never will makes me feel bad some times

  • the hornet at the 37 second mark is an australian airforce one. not a navy f18

  • America have better jets than russia and china?

  • yes

  • It will always be my generation's P-51 =) i'd take one any day

  • More like this generation's F4U or F6F, the P-51 was not a naval aircraft, it served with the USAAC (predacessor of the USAAF)

  • P-51D Mustang, the best aircraft evermade!

  • my dad knows the pilot of the f-14 at 2:07

  • i want a f-18

  • well if you come up with 60 million dollars you can have one,, still doesnt mean you can fly it, as for me,, im well on my way to being a fighter pilot...

  • how much longer until youre a pilot? im on the way to becoming a naval aviator (f-18)

  • It's so crazy that the F-14 is retired! The premier fighter of my youth. Plus Top Gun!! However I must say that I have seen the F-22 in person a couple times at Oshkosh....UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

  • the f16 and f18 are the superior american aircraft thats why they canceled the f14

  • more because the actual frames where so old the upkeep for a tomcat compared to a hornet after a flight was almost double the time.

  • Every Super Hornet wants to grow up and be a Tomcat!!!!

  • There's a few different F-25 varients coming into service which will replace the following aircraft in phases:

    Navy F-14's, F/A-18's (all varients).

    USMC: AV-1B Harriers.

Air Force: F-16's (only selected sqd's).

While I think the F/A-18 is one of the best aircraft, it's fairly dated, but oh well.

    Whatever helps us win. ^^;

  • you are wrong my friend...the F-35 not F-25 will replace the F/A-18 A,B,C and D not the F/A-18 E and F (super Hornet). The F-35 is a stealthier compliment to the super hornet and is not ment to replace it, it is not even a replacement for the F-14 because the replacement for the F-14 is the Super Hornet. In the USMC the F-35 is meant to replace the Harriers and the Hornets and possibly the prowlers. As for the rest you are correct.

  • Ey, sorry. Not used to the new keyboard, I did mean the F-35. :p

It's a shame we're not replacing the Harriers over here in England, although I prefer the idea of jump-jet augmented planes as opposed to a turning nozzle engine for VTOL craft... the control systems in the Harrier are very, VERY hard and delicate in comparison to the majorly computer-assisted flight dynamics of the F-35.

But it's nice to know that not all the F/A-18's are going out of service, at least not right away. :)

  • As far as I know the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force are getting the F-35B...138 units I believe.

  • french pilot kick your ass

  • @cyberlool French pilots are pretty good too.I flew a few sorties with some of the French Pilots.

  • Really so this means you are a pilot which plane do you fly

  • I wanna videos damn

  • They're all great airplanes, but the F-14 takes the cake against any military airplane in the skies in my eyes.

  • There is no such airplane as an "F-18" The Hornet (and Super Hornet) is neither a Fighter nor an Attack weapon. It is an F/A-18. It will never match the Tomcat in the fighter role nor does it even come close to matching the A-6 in the attack role. Having said this, it performs it's intended mission (as designed) quite well. The F-35 will not (and is not designed to) replace the F/A-18.

  • On the contrary, the F-35 is designed to and will replace all the Legacy Hornets in the Navy's arsenal, as well as all Hornets and Harriers in the USMC. Try not to spew BS and people won't call you on it.

  • song? btw Awesome video!

  • Youtube is not for slideshows.

  • if you think the old f-18's are to shit then why do you think they came out with the super hornet ? HUH? HUH?HUH?

  • aye, i'm trying to make my explanation in some kinda parody here.... to answer ur question: because F-18 C/D sux too much, the navy cannot gain the air domination without a good fighter, while F-35 is not in service yet, so F-18 E/F is a compromise choice...to replace F-14 temporarily for a few yrs.

    then we got F-35~

  • THIS IS A MEASSAGE TO ALL MEN AND WOMEN BRAVE ENOUGH TO ANSWER THERE NATIONS CALL! Join...join your country...join them and lead them to victory!! air, land or sea...make your country proud!!!

  • Future Navy Aviator right here.

  • best regard to all of pilots

  • its not a aeroplane! its a monster!!

  • Yeh different generations, i agree i have flown both aircraft, I still hold my opinion that the F/A-18 is 'underacheiving' and beleive the navy made a huge mistake in retiring the F-14, Makes it even worse there replacing ever airframe with a modded F/A-18 I.E. EA-6b (Love it) is being replaced by the ....... EA-18G (yuck!) I simply don't understand why the navy r doing this...........

  • kid, your 15...when did you fly a plane? is there someone you know in the force?

  • @FsxfleetRobertw Hello, regarding your EA-18G statement, The EA-6B is going to be replaced with the EA-18G because:

    1. The EA-18G has more hard points that could be used in self-defence against air-to-air threats

    2. The EA-18G is able to go Supersonic unlike the subsonic aircraft

    3. It carries less crew. There is only a pilot, and EA officer.

    4. It only looks like a regular F/A-18F on the outside, but inside, it will look completely different.

I might be working with the Growler in the future.

  • F-14 is 10x better than the F-18, amazing wot the navy will do to defend that piece of shit we call the hornet

  • You've got that right. The new Navy slogan is "Slower! Less Range! Carries Less Useful Load! But Newer!!"

  • yeh man and everyone has been brainwashed into thinking the F/A-18 is a good plane!!!hahahahahaha shame wot has become of the navy now :-(

  • The F/A-18 is just one generation ahead and there are things you just can't do with an old plane, especially concerning the avionics. Today, speed isn't as important as 20-30 years ago when you had to clear out if you shot on something or if somebody noticed you. Also the range and payload ar becoming less important to save weight for other systems. You just can't compare jet fighters of a different generation by datas like weight, speed or payload because they are made for a different...

  • purpose. In the last 20-30 years, the characteristics which make a good fighter aircraft have changed.

I think the F/A-18 is a really great plane, it does it's jobs great! Put a good pilot behind the controls of an F/A-18 and it will be an inveterate enemy! At it's time, the flight control system of the F/A-18 was revolutionary, it's still one of the best dogfighters without thrust vectoring. I know a F/A-18 C/D pilot who already flew against an EF 2000 in an exercise, the EF 2000 pilot...

  • was pretty busy I think... :P

  • Do you.... Love God? Repost this in 7MINUTES if you truly love God...no matter what anyone says. If you do... A MIRACLE will happen tonight!! P.S. Don't ignore this....because you never know when God is actually testing you
