@AdorableRaven sorry for my english i'm french but for your funeral listen bande of horses "funeral" or atticus ros "panoramic" it's really .....amazing if you like sigur ros "ara batur" i think you like also ...i hope for you "svefn g englar" and "viorar vel til loftarasa" amities de france!!!
without a doubt one of the most beautiful songs ever made. and to think that the music industry is dominated by such crap like "put your hands up" and get on the floor". THIS is pure class. THIS is what real music is about. THIS is an honour to listen to. Fuck off Bieber
I would say that I hope THIS is the song I hear when I die and Christ allows me (an imperfect human) to enter eternity with Him... but I think this song won't compare to the beauty of THAT music. Very close though.. :)
"Good God what an amazing song 'Ara Batur' is. I have very rarely been touched by music on an emotional level, let alone by a piece sung in a language I cannot understand. Sigur Ros have had many works which include a build up to a powerful climax, however none of them can quite compare to this one in terms of power, emotion and beauty. This song is monumental, perplexing, beautiful and captures the essence of what makes us human. After listening to this, I can truly say: I've felt the absolute"
@adeb0017 would you kindly like to inform me of other songs they have made that include "a powerful climax"? The only one i know of is "staralfur", my other favorite.
@K3vinEddie Well firstly you should know that the quote is of a review that i written (hence the quotes). Sigur Ros often used to go for the climactic ending. Vaka is a good example I think. And even Glosoli.
One minute I’d been looking at the cars blunder by, careless and bored, and the next the wheels started to turn into biscuits and the rain started to look like thick, black oil and the air became oil too and then I couldn’t breathe, not because of the oil but because I’d forgotten how and a person walked by and oil trickled down the person’s cheek, or was it their leg,
and then it started gushing down, engulfing their whole body so they became nothing but oil, nothing but thick black oil and I wanted to yell out to them but I forgot all words and then I forgot who I was, what I was, I forgot how to exist Luna, I forgot how to be...
Step out on a balcony, listen to this masterpiece, light a cigarette, be thankful for life and at the latest at 7:00 you´ll feel a peak in consciousness and have the mere feeling of beeing alive
@daywalker006 ya for a couple of years until you get lung cancer, then your friends and family will be listening to this thinking "if only he didnt smoke..."

This album came out a few weeks after my grandmother died, and I bought it the day we had to go clean out her apartment. It always makes me think of her, but this song specifically. Every time I listen to the crescendo at the end, it brings me close to tears.

Gracias Sigur Ros, sigue haciendo feliz a este joven fan tuyo;)
Impresionantes los 2 ultimos minutos, sublimes y celestiales.
It's good that people in American get to know music from other countries. Music is a universal language. You can tell how someone is feeling just by their music. :)
Every time I listen to Sigur Ros, I'm taken on a spiritual journey. It doesn't matter if I've heard the song before. In fact, I cried when I heard this song, again. Didn't cry the first time, but something about it just brought the tears... It was great.
I know people tend to get all sappy n stuff regarding this song and here I am about to add to the pile. I was coming to terms with impending death of my gramp, i was out reflecting remembering him and others who recently passed. As the song reached its climax the clouds opened up and the sun came shining down. I just pulled over and smiled while the tears came streaming down. Like God just looked down and said "Don't worry son, your gramp is going to finally rest and he won't be alone."
@Cheshykid ha sorry, i had to share my tale just to help myself accept what was happening. now whenever i listen to this song i just smile because i know my gramp is at peace. i hope you have a similar catharsis, if you happen to need it.
this song is maybe one of the most beautiful things I^ve ever heard...This makes me so sad and the same time so happy...Its so beautiful that it nearly hurts...SIgur Ros at it's best...!

Breathtaking powerful songs by this extremely young guy..
You know when you love someone when you look into their eyes and this song plays in your head ha. But this song is one of my favorite songs by sigur ros its completely amazing.
@jacachu Sometimes life turns around and smacks you in the face. But thats when you have to get up and keep pushing forward, never give up. I feel terrible for your loss, but don't give up, keep being strong, and let this song remind you of what you've been through, and make you stronger every time you listen to it.
i want to jump off a bridge with this in my ears and when it comes in i want to hit the water but it keeps playing underwater and then it ends and i die
When I first listened to this song, I started to laugh, and I was saying, "Yes! Yeeesss!" Anyone who witnessed this event may have and still do believe that I am insane. Do I care? Naaaahhh.. This song made me the happiest man on Earth for about 8 minutes and 57 seconds. I LOVE Sigur Ros. Now if only I could have been climbing a mountain like that other guy. SHEW, I would have just died.
The beautiful thing is when you listen to these songs they take you far away to beautiful places and not many would understand :) <3. I also love to see that the great people in YouTube actually are hear instead of having to see dumb comments elsewhere. It's great! Takk

@bigpimpdaddy69 love the build up around 5:20. but when it reaches its climax at 7:45 i got tingles and chills all over my body. i love how this music makes everything signifigant and beautiful
@gatheringleaves I wouldn't say I agree with you, but this could be the case for many others. I personally love having to wait so long for an AMAZING climax. It makes it just that much more special for me when it happens. However, I am a weathered fan of post-rock music, so I"m used to it, I suppose. :) cheers.
6:58 just took my breath away..Incredibly beautiful that it nearly hurts..! And from 7:43 i just felt like I was in heaven.. Breathtaking and magical song, one of the best they ever made IMO..Sigur Ros are definitely the band of the century!

I like to think I know my music and have varied and eclectic tastes, and believe that this is the most beautiful song ever written.
Thankfully more and more people are becoming aware of this unique and extra ordinary band and they will move away from cult status.
How wonderful that more people are touched by this and 'Glosoli' and 'Hoppipolla' and 'Sven-n englar'.
The more people who listen to their music the better this world will be.
Bless You - Sigur Ros

@wightnproud wonderfully put!
I can think of no other band that has had a more powerful effect on people.. they seem to hit you right in the inner child in the best possible way

@wightnproud 'Glosoli' is painfully beautiful. Everytime i listen to anything from Sigur Ros, i have to sit and think.

When i climbed a mountain in Wales I put this song on and just relaxed at the top, looking at the awesome landscape before my feet,...simply amazing!
