There have been talks. for several years and failed. Kosovo became part of Yu in 1913 artificially, it was never Serbian. There's nothing to start negotiating with. Serbian minority have all their rights and can decide to live peacefully in Kosovo or go back to Serbia! There will be no exchanging territories. Thats just Serbian dreams. You fail to understand the significance of Kosovo to Serbs and to Orthodox Christians. Kosovo is the heart of Serbian culture and history. Let us suppose one of your states was settled by a particular ethnic group who soon became a majority there...would you accept that state which is a part of the USA to declare independence? Kosovo is an illegal entity, and its demographic make-up is the result of illegal Albanian immigration there under the late Tito who was not Serb.

I read a lot of old books at archive,org on the "Near East" written between 1800 and 1920 and it is clear in those books that Kosovo has been about 80% Albanian speaking for a long time and that Albanians and Serbs have never liked each other.
Trying to force Albanians and Serbs to live together in the same state was a huge mistake of the London Conference of 1913. The Versailles Treaty was based on self-dertermination which usually involved common language.
Serbs are orthodox slavs. Albanians are muslim non-slavs. They are oil and water. They can not live together in the same state. That's like Turks and Greeks or Poles and Germans. It's a recipe for disaster. Even Tito couldn't get them to live together.

There have been talks. for several years and failed. Kosovo became part of Yu in 1913 artificially, it was never Serbian. There's nothing to start negotiating with. Serbian minority have all their rights and can decide to live peacefully in Kosovo or go back to Serbia! There will be no exchanging territories. Thats just Serbian dreams. Kosovo does not kill Serbs. That's Serbian propaganda for the local consumption. Sad I sometimes think of it as North Korea!

Let us suppose one of your states was settled by a particular ethnic group who soon became a majority there...would you accept that state which is a part of the USA to declare independence? Kosovo is an illegal entity, and its demographic make-up is the result of illegal Albanian immigration there under the late Tito who was not Serb.

Your analogy is wrong...Kosovo's independence happened in the last decade, it is not something that happened centuries ago, and no one can expect Serbs to accept illegal NATO intervention, and Bush who has no roots in that geographic neighbourhood and who'se country is not on the same continent even and on the other side of the Atlantic to make decisions about Kosovo was not correct.

You have to remember that a country can go from victimized to victimizer. Germany was victimized in the Thirty Years War and in the Napoleonic Wars...and yet from 1864 to 1945 Germany was the victimizer. Things change.
Serbia couldn't get along with the other Yugoslav republics that's why Slovenia and Croatia decided to succeed from Yugoslavia. They didn't want to live in a Serb dominated Yugoslavia. Watch "Death of Yugoslavia" on YT by the BBC...it explains what Serbia did.

I actually have researched this kosovo problem because I was curious to know why Pres. Clinton and Pres. Bush both supported Kosovo independence even though they have totally different political views.
I read a lot of old books at archive,org on the "Near East" written between 1800 and 1920 and it is clear in those books that Kosovo has been about 80% Albanian speaking for a long time and that Albanians and Serbs have never liked each other.

Trying to force Albanians and Serbs to live together in the same state was a huge mistake of the London Conference of 1913. The Versailles Treaty was based on self-dertermination which usually involved common language.
Serbs are orthodox slavs. Albanians are muslim non-slavs. They are oil and water. They can not live together in the same state. That's like Turks and Greeks or Poles and Germans. It's a recipe for disaster. Even Tito couldn't get them to live together.

What planet are you living on? Mother Russia, a BIG country with nine time zones is behind Serbia, so is the rest of the Orthodox world. Serbia's size is irrelevant (hope you've learned how to spell "irrelevant" by now). Serbia was signifcant enough to be the reason behind WWI, which the "rest of the world" was watching anxiously. It reeks of Central Committe meetings or Party Congresses. When I was in Germany right before the war, we were just amazed that the Serbs of the 1990's sounded just like the Soviets of the 1960's. What was worse was we now know the Soviets didn't believe what they were saying, while the Serbs did. Oh Well.
