oh yea best part of the song..weve synthesized a compound to treat this conscience and its.........one part loss, one part no sleep, one part the gunshot we heard, one part the screams mistaken for laughter, one part everything after, one part love, one part stepping out of the driving rain...
ew why do i always get emo/screamo bands in my recommendations? no offense to every1 here who loves it, im just tired of thinking "oh, if i got recommended this video it must be something ill like" and then clicking it and im like "wtf"
@canthinkverywell Keep in mind that Thursday has been around since 1997. They are one of the very first sing/scream type bands. When they came out, nobody I knew had heard anything like it. It was new and different. And, to the point; the lyrics are simply amazing, bordering on poetry. I understand if you just can't get in to it, but to those of us who have been fans for a long time, they're great.
@mhaneline im just not understanding why i get recommended these types of videos, like youtube or whoever does the recommendations confuses punk with emo, i can enjoy punk, i just cant enjoy emo...its really hard for me, its just...corny music...
@canthinkverywell YT recommends it because the people that like the music you like also like this. It's not because of genre, it's because they have given it Thumbs Up, added to Favorites, etc..
@canthinkverywell Thursday isn't even emo. They are pretty much just a rock band. If you wanted to get more specific, they are post-hardcore. Emo is like dashboard confessional, death cab for cutie or sunny day real estate. People categorizing Thursday as emo are basically just lumping anything and everything in to a generalized category. It's much better to call them what they are, a Rock Band, or Alternative Rock even. You might as well call Whitechapel Emo >:|
@mhaneline i know the difference, and this is screamo. i can see the post-hardcore in there too, i listen to post-hardcore, like at the drive-in and fall of troy, but this is definitely screamo too. no band perfectly fits into just 1 genre, and maybe this 1 doesn't perfectly fit screamo, but its pretty damn sceamo too. screamo of course being emo + screams, not just any music with screaming as a lot of people wrongly assume
@canthinkverywell If you look at it that way, like 80% of music could be emo, and any music with screaming is immediately screamo. Anyway, they're a rock band to me.
@mhaneline i just looked at it the opposite way of that, i think u misunderstood. emo + screams is screamo, and emo is a style that formed out of punk in the 80s and 90s. original emo isn't even that bad, its just when they started stealing alternative rock elements that it started to get kinda gay. melody and arpegios are best left to alternative and dissonance and dynamics are best left to emo, when they blend its not a great mix. then hardcore and post-hardcore are a whole different rant
@canthinkverywell If you ask me, "emo" was born from bands like The Cure. Then again, emo is short for emotional. So.... my original point: if a song is emotional, by definition, it's emo. Emo as a genre of music is just retarded.
@mhaneline emo can have a few meanings, "emo" as in short for emotional is a term u can use for any person or subject or type of entertainment that is very emotional, or "emo" as in people who are very deppressing and usually also goth, or "emo" meaning a specific style of scene music. and scene music overal is just hard to listen to...
@canthinkverywell No. Emo is short for emotional, that's where it originated as far as music goes. That's my whole point, most of what people say is "emo", as far as the pseudo-genre goes, freaking isn't.
@mhaneline yeah people fuck that up all the time but i dont, i actually know the difference. i know a lot of people who tend to call any kind of punk-related band that they don't like "emo" i dont do that, and not any form of music with any amount of emotion is emo, that would make most country emo dude...
i was considering posting this song (ckreticeland) but i didnt lol. they used to be my all time favorite, but once they released their newest album i kinda lost interest... only one song on that album i really really like.
