  • theres over a billion people on earth, you wont run outta meat

  • @dislexic0311 over 7 billion idiot. and to the video poster, great food for thought

  • Start a squirrel farm. ;) or if your desperate kill stray cats and dogs.

  • Comment removed

  • squirrel!

  • hogs breed 3 times a year and and can start breeding 6 to 10 months old. average litter is about 8 to 14 piglets not uncommon in good environmental conditions and with older breeding sows. texas has the highest concentration due to the farm lands and has 3 different types of feral hogs as well

  • Great video,

I remember a few years ago when this economic crisis set in, over here in the UK the newspapers were filled with ‘pouching on the increase’ stories. A lot of the time it wasn’t so much blokes taking a deer for themselves but organized criminal gangs killing as many as they could to sell the meat, so there might not be any left by the time 'the SHTF'...

  • @triplejacked

On the upside, wild boar are making a big comeback, they became extinct over here in the 13th century, then in the 1980’s they people started farming them in a big way and obviously now and again a few escaped. Up until recently it was accepted that there were the odd ones running about the countryside, but now they have really established themselves.

  • @triplejacked you poor devil's in the UK are screwed in the event of a true cataclysm......except maybe north scotland and a good portion of ireland(i know ireland isn't technicaly UK)......england and wales will be "mad max and the thunder dome" hellholes.....you should come to america, upon obtaining citizenship you'll have access to true firearms freedom and much more land than england will ever have!

  • @smartacus88

The thought has certainly crossed my mind but I think as with most things ‘every cloud has a silver lining’. So we have got a overwhelmingly urban population, which on paper looks quite scary should the system collapse. Yet are they going to head for the country? Sure some might but if you ask me our urban lemmings are a breed apart; ‘children of the nanny state’ they’d most likely cling to the last semblance of authority. So the countryside will probably be quite safe.

  • @triplejacked

You can say the same thing about firearms, to be fair I think ‘Britain’s tough gun control’ is a bit of a myth, but it’s as prevalent here as it is abroad. Most people think ‘guns are banned’ or at least heavily resisted, out of reach of the average citizen, so they never bother trying to get a licence. So if you have got guns even if it’s just a double barrelled shotgun, in the event of a collapse your better armed than 99.5% of the general population.

  • @triplejacked im glad to hear that not everyone in england is dependent on the government for survival. and i wouldn't of thought the country would have been that far enough away from a major metropolitan area to be that immune for the biggest part, but i'm happy to hear it is.if only you were allowed to own effective firearms..........just regular capacity long guns like shotguns and bolt rifles would meet most all need's,and it's surely better than the hand ya'll are forced to play right now...

  • Your spot on about hogs. Most of my neighbors look at hogs as a plague due to the fact that they are not a trophy animal they can put on the wall. I think wild hogs may be a God send given the financial situation we are in here in America today.

  • people people.....swallow your pride...if there is a meat shortage you better believe ill kill people and eat them.....its them or me .....your wild at heart ust another mammal the concept of being civil has been pounded in your brain but its ot who we are! as mammals...dont cross my path you will be dinner!

  • @Kinggruul You are joking or just trolling, you have to be.... because when you eat people you will develop diseases such as the "shakes" brain diseases and what not. Go ahead and eat people your ass will not be around long after that.

  • If something kills most people, it would probably kill most animals. If most people didn't die, it wouldn't be such a bad situation because society would still exist.

  • eat zombie meat

  • The bottom line for me is this...the meat supply will probably become VERY scarce...which is why I purchased the survivalist seeds pack of heirloom seeds.. (heirloom meaning the vegetables produce seeds season after season) which means continuous seed's and also--BARTER goods! Meat should become a delicacy--NOT a requirement--

  • Awesome vid keep up the good work both on videos and

    the forum

  • WAY more people than deer , hogs , turkeys , and gators (FL here) . . . everything will be gone , eventually ... even most edible (wild) plants people know about .

  • There are millions more turkeys, deer, hogs than there were from the 1700s to early 1900's when there were many more predators. Of course there are many more people but 99% cant hunt worth a damn without a feed plot to shoot at.

Doesn't matter if all the wildlife gets eaten up...there's will still be nice juicy people to eat...mmmmm nice arm with Fava beans and camp cup of Chianti. Get Hannibal Lecters Guide To Human Consumption.

  • I know hogs are way more plentiful than deer, especially here in Oklahoma,as I'm sure it's the same in Texas.

  • the only flaw i see in this video is that in a SHTF situation, the majority of the human population would likely die off, and while wildlife may sustain some casualties as well, they wont be as significant because us humans would be the targets of our enemies. Plus they would not want to destroy our environment, they would want to use it to their advantage. Therefore the ratio of humans to wildlife would be significantly lower, so i doubt hunting would cause them to become extinct. Great vid tho

  • @BeanerMan3k Your focusing on one specific scenario where the US is invaded or attacked, what about financial collapse?

  • @Hashishin13 Ok i see your point

  • What about rabbits, squirrels, rats, frogs, turtles, pegion, dove, crow, etc. There a re a few there that you could breed youself. Rabbit and pigeon, for instance are relatively easy to bread and are constantly productive.

  • @lanetxgp1 i meant breed :) I've never tried rabbit bread.:)

  • Shhhhhhh. (Hunt quietly.)

  • every body and there brother will be hunting.....have 6 to 8 months of food..!!!

  • Raccoons?

It has been shown that the number of rednecks is inversely proportional to wildlife population.

  • One thing not touched on in this video is that if you are hunting during shtf / teotwawki there will obviously be other starving hunters in the woods with you.

You will definitely be shot at or killed by other hunters looking to get food and to stop you from taking 'their' food.

If you're not hunting in groups you will be taking a huge risk being in the woods by yourself.

Imagine getting a deer or hog and getting killed by someone that watched you the whole time.

  • @breakneck14 That's why we'd have to have two guns. One for hunting, one for defending our kill. Or, one can hunt with a bow (skill needed) and others will never know you took game.

  • @aranelinya The key word to your statement is LEARN. The average American is moving so fast he can't stop to learn. He has a certain mindset controlled by his ego and is unwilling to work hard for anything anymore. I see the average American turning into this Zombie like creature. Basically all they do is want things and chase the dollar to support a craving or addiction. I see the average American as a threat to my family and others. Man is my biggest threat during a SHTF event.

  • @aranelinya

    ROFLMAO!

  • As always ya hit the point! Best ta you an yourn. GOD BLESS! LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC!

  • great info - time to practice hog hunting

  • Thanks for the info on all that. I didnt know about the problem from over hunting.

  • And don't forget protein-rich wild plants that are easily gathered and propogated, like stinging nettle.

  • I think you're right...after the crash, the more conventional food animals like deer and turkey are going to be hunted down to nothing. A person is much better off pursuing small sources of protein, such as small birds and animals like racooons, rabbits, squirrels. The wild hogs will be a good source in this area too. But honestly, the most abundant source of protein is going to be the animals that don't seem very palatable to the western mind, like cats and dogs.

  • I think what will be most devistating to the deer population is that people won't know how to preserve the meat w/out electricity & even if electric stays on they will waist a lot that they dont have room for or poor butchering skills. I have mineral blocks in my preps I'm hoping to attract game to me so I don't have to wander through the woods getting shot at by bands of noob hunters.

  • you guys are lucky to have hogs down there but I guess we have moose and caribou. I suppose farmers would disagree about being lucky to have hogs though.

  • @aranelinya Sounds interesting... I may have to shoot me one somewhere lol.

  • @aranelinya Really? Id imagine that nutria would taste like mud.

  • Crows are actually completely edible dispite thier diet. And i've scene some intetesting recipies out there. Never tried it though. But those are pretty reliable and you can kill a lot at once.

  • @aranelinya Rabbits aren't rodents. They are lagomorphs. haha. :)

  • After disasters, like the great plague or the Thirty Years' War in Europe, animal populations rather recovered, than decreased.

There were whole villages, that were uninhabitated, real ghost towns.

Even nearly extinct animals, like wolves and bears returned.

  • Thank you for the info and knowledge you pass on.

  • Great topic. Thanks.

  • Have you read any of the Foxfire Books?

  • I'm in heat every day of the year! LOL

  • Good point about animals being hunted to extinction, especially as the human population is now much higher than it was in the depression. Also the habitats of such animals have been encroached upon from development further since then. If it hit the fan now, things would be much tougher. It leads me to thinking, how hungry does someone have to get before people start cropping up on the menu. Yeah, morbid I know but.. what if?

  • @CreamPie9uy It wouldn't take long bro. Most people don't know how to hunt, fish, or trap. I think "long-pig" would be on the table very quickly.

  • @CreamPie9uy if im not mistaken during one of the world wars there were whole towns and citys that became cannibalistic so yes it is a vary real concern.

  • @ GrdNovGrns- Down in San Diego Tx, South Tx we are having the same Hog problem. This yr is the worst ever. The hogs have lost their fear of hunters. They hide in the brush & as soon as we drop off someone at their blind & come out as soon as the truck leaves. Our next trip we plan to remove our timers & strictly go with gravity protein feeders to keep feed off the ground. Multiplying like rats is exactly right! Gentleman Hogs will run off your deer! Take them all down.

  • look up hogzilla.

  • great vids sir

  • Back in the 30s and 40s there were more hunters than there is now.

  • @papamoose71 That is totally incorrect in Michigan at least. Every year the DNR reports both record hunter numbers entering the woods and record deer harvests (typically not always). Back in the 30's-40's my grandfather tells me there were no whitetail deer in southern counties of Michigan. He said you had to go north of Houghton Lake into the top part of the lower peninsula to find white tail.

Currently we have record populations (especially of doe's in MI) turkey, and rabbits are rampant.

  • @papamoose71 thats a good thing. more food in the wild for us. the weak will not survive.

  • @papamoose71 Maybe by percentage, or even outright numbers, but there are far more people who might become hunters and there is alos probably much less wild land to go hunting on.

  • @Hashishin13 They will try to hunt and most likely will fail. Hunting is a lot harder than they think.

  • @papamoose71 Taxes, regulations, and connivence of walmart...

  • Great information in this video, thanks for your knowledge and thoughts....

  • It's hilarious how people think that they will just live off the land. As if that is a lifestyle that you can just adopt one day and immediately do fine.... There will be some people that hunt who will know how to get meat and sell it to the helpless city dwellers, but that will not last very long at all.

  • @mikebius

U are absolutely right. Even fishing is not a reliable long-term survival skill, unless u know how to make fishing hooks and line out of natural material found in the woods.

And even if you are the best hunter and fisher on the planet, u can't kill something after it has gone extinct. During the Great Depression of the 30's animals like deer became endangered.

  • interesting

  • great information thank you kevin!

  • About once a month we have a big hog hunt (Central Texas, just south of Austin). The hunt usually nets about 50 or so hogs and yet we see the numbers INCREASING on the hogs in the area, it's crazy! We hunt with dogs and the hogs are processed for feeding the dogs a raw pork diet. We don't eat them, I raise my own pork, I can't stomach the taste of feral no matter how I prepare it. Grant it, out of necessity I would deal with it, lol.

  • my money and belly is on rabbits.

  • @ConquerTheWild Rabbits are quite tasty. The other-other white meat. However, you will starve eating only rabbits. You'll need something else to supplement your rabbit meat diet for long term.

  • man you would make a great pres. Bush impersonator.

  • Estrus; I learned a new word. Thanks.

  • your right.

  • I hope people like pork after SHTF!

  • Good info. Thanks.

  • Most of our immediate ancestors hunted, coons, possums, squirrels. Even had some who tried a skunk. That probably tastes like cat, or your local chinese restaurant....

  • I hear "Liberal" citiots taste like chicken...

Don't understand? Follow my links. Read the quotes page first. Then share and prepare for what will be required.

  • As far as post shtf meat goes. I'm leaning toward guinea pigs. They'll eat grass, and they breed like mad. They grow fast too. Down in So. America they like to eat em. I haven't tried one yet, but I"m fixin to. Rabbit is good too for the same reasons, but they haven't got the fat in em to make them a viable food source, unless one can get their fat from other sources.

  • How long will the food supply last before we have to eat people????????????????

  • Texas has the largest white tail deer population in the nation, (No, not Montana, or even Alaska) There are approximately 6 million White tails in Texas. These two factors should be kept in mind. 1) The meat would probably spoil in 4 - 5 days without refrigeration. 2) There are a little over 24 million, 700 thousand people in Texas. (So how long can you live in the woods after SHTF?)

  • @GoatHollow. What is: 2 weeks. Naw jk

  • Thank you. Do you know if there is some kind of Russian hog starting to run wild in America? I've they get real big and aggressive. Might need a really big rifle to shoot em? I'm just thinking they might eat me or family if we have to go to the woods. God Bless,be well.

  • @Hobohube I'd more worried about wild dogs.

  • alright....now we are talking gun crazy!

The survivalist channel has morphed into a teabagger NRA gun nut channel.

  • ★★★★★

  • hunt racoon!

  • @0122358

When I was a kid in high school I knew dozens of people who hunted coon but now i don't know anyone who does. It's like people just stopped hunting them. Why??

  • After the fact I am hunting COW. Going to the nearest field slaying a bull then dragging his flesh home. Will store in salt in barrels for future use.We are surrounded by cows. If it is total lawlessness I plan to stay as close to the base as possible. I am hoping for a miracle but we know things lasting as long as they have is already a miracle.

  • @cdltpx Don't hunt my cows i'll brain u and add ur rumps to the beef sausage.

  • @cdltpx U can put pork in a salt box and save it in conjunction with smoking all year. But i don't think that works for beef. I have been told by people (who should know what they are talking about) that doesn't work. obviousely salt smoke and drying will make it last a while but i think it's only around a month. U might check into that if that is ur plans. I plan to trade cows for pigs and then preserve the pork.

  • more farming videos! :D

  • @sind55 agreed!!

  • lets be honest there would be lots of mice and rats to eat in that situation which i might use as an option

  • @bigd5000100 if u can eat squirrel u can eat a rat. Might taste like shit because they are scavengers but its protein.

  • @Gnostic279

Squirrel has a very good taste, almost 'nutty.' Been eating them all my life.

They're beginning to sell them in supermarkets in England, where the american gray squirrels were transplanted in the past and are now considered a nuisance.

  • @Gnostic279 just make sure theres no poison in theire guts and cook and clean it good plus my mom is a single mom so it wouldnt be safe for me to hunt deer rabits and other stuff because me walking through the woods with my rifle makes me an easy target and my mom and sibilings would be easy targets too

  • @bigd5000100

Do not have any1 living around u that u can trust? U need a hunting buddy, man. Then u can go after ferril pigs, yeah.

  • @Gnostic279 well i got my grandpa close by and if i was at school when it happened id grab a few of my friends and head home

  • -- Good thoughts sir!

  • -- Now if someone would chase a few of those hogs over our way! ;^{)>

  • Hey at 3:33 you did a perfect porky pig lol got put that in one of your blooper episodes, made me chuckle ; ) Again thanx for a look at this information.

  • Agriculture has lead to a population level that is unsustainable without agriculture, ecosystems could never handle so many people hunting at once if modern agricultural technology and production ceased to exist (in a SHTF situation). Your best option is to have your own gardens and to raise your own animals.

  • Hey Kevin I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. How did your gardens turn out and can you show your camera setup for this type of video, what is it attached to and how? Thank you Kevin. Peace "Z"

  • I love how you say Piglets (:

  • avg deer hunter gets a deer every 5-10 years with a managed population. When shtf, all bets are off, better learn how to raise your own and be able to defend your stock, but your main issue I think is feeding your stock when the grain supply and farm space may be unavailable or unusable do to many different factors. If you plan to turn your pigs out ....good luck pigs roam like hell, Free range chickens here in Maine is a big no Nov-Apr. so some grain and water storage is absolutely necessary

  • @yonny1954 You say free range chickens is a big no- Nov-Apr. I don't think I understand what your saying. I know down here in Portland ME we've got a cayote problem. Heck, folk even have to keep their outdoor kitties inside. Cayotes love em. I reckon they'd like chickens even better. It's got me wonderin what cayote tastes like:)

  • I'll have to watch this tomorrow, youtube is just to slow right now.
