@xxxmikeyjock most of the skylines and supras etc were coming out of the factorys 15 years back, they are by rights fast 'imports' not to mention the FC's and JX's that were around before hand, Japan and Europe have been making fast cars as long as America. But yeah America has some what perfected the car lol

Nice, It only took 15 years for domestic engine builders to realize that the import guys were on to something by turbo charging. Sure turbo's have been around forever but the import guys light the fuse and started pushing their 4 and 6 cylinders over 1000hp then it finally trickled down to the big block domestic engine builder. Finally big block domestic V8's can rule the streets once again.

@dieseldan420ca I think the V8 crowd has known the power of turbocharging for ever, the problem has been controlling the boost & vehicle on the track. When a big engine makes boost, it can hit unpredictably, and without today's controllers and EFI systems, the power hit would simple annihilate the tires on a race car making it too inconsistent. Today, that power can be managed so a car can be consistent and maintain traction to win races.

2.0-2.3L 4g63's in Evo's have been making over 1,000awhp for 5+ year's now and 2JZ's in the Supra's are now making 1,400whp. For vids search, AMS Evo, Dynoflash Evo, and the latest Texas 2k11 videos for 1,400whp Supras.

@bigenginesismythang Yes, the 4g63 found in 90-98 DSM's (Eclipse, Talon, Laser, Galant VR4) and Evo's are pretty much the only 1k hp streetable 4 cylinder. John Shepperd is in the 7's at 200mph in his 1400hp 4g63 powered 5 speed Eagle Talon street car. There are a few 1k whp Honda and Nissan 4's but those are on drag car's.
